AUTHOR'S NOTE: About the title, I couldn't think of one so I decided that the title of the next song on my playlist would be the title of this story. And the song that played was “Breakdown” by Urbandub. It's been a while since I've written anything and I'm a bit rusty. Forgive me for that. Well, here goes nothing. Please review.

Tortured artist? I beg to differ, I'm merely frustrated with my writing. Nothing I write is ever good enough. There's always something missing. Something wrong. I can't get it right, not like I did back in middle school and high school. It's a good thing that my publisher and editor think that whatever I write is genius. Then they get disappointed when sales fail to match up to their expectations. I'm glad that they still believe in me, even after writing two flops in a row.

My life is pretty good I would say, definitely better than I expected! I'm surprised that I'm able to afford everything I have, or then again, maybe I should say, I'm glad Darren can afford everything we have. I never went to college so I always expected living in a life of poverty and despair. I can thank Darren's athletic skills for this lovely home we have and for everything that's in it.

I does strike me as odd that Darren doesn't mind that I don't want to get married. We have been together for nearly ten years now and I expected that he would want to get settled down by now. I should be thankful I guess, I'm not the marrying type after all.

Yeah, that's me in a nutshell.
