The phone rang from its stand on the desk for the fiftieth time that day. Seto Kaiba, CEO of Kaiba Corp, busy as he was, merely picked up the phone and hung it back up, not bothering to answer it.

It was well into the evening, and the people on the streets hurried to get home to their families. The sun was setting, but Seto Kaiba continued to work.

He called his assistant, Isono, to his side.

“Mr. Kaiba, sir, don’t you think you should take a break before you overwork yourself?” Isono asked.

“A break? I’ve never had one before. I’ve never had time. Have you got the package?”

“Uh, sir, don’t you think you’re jumping the gun a bit? She hardly even knows you.”

Kaiba glared at him.

“Err... right here, sir!” Isono cried, extracting a small maroon velvet box from his coat pocket. He believed that his boss had gone crazy. He was going to propose to a girl that hardly knew him. He hadn’t even gone out on a date with her, and was going to propose to her that night.

“Alright, I expect everything to be in order when I come back tomorrow morning. And no one should bother me, I will be making plans.”

“Yes sir.”

Kaiba believed that because he was a rich multi-billionaire, all girls would want him.

But was that the case?

He would find out that night.

He walked out of his office in a hurry and headed towards the elevator.

Inside the parking lot, Kaiba was preoccupied with the plans of the night. As he put his helmet on and climbed onto his motorcycle, he realized that he had forgotten one of his papers back in his office. He wondered if he should ring for Isono, but decided against it.

Mounting his bike, he pulled out into the cool night air. Traffic was light, and there was still some orange sun rays peeking out over the tall corporations.

Kaiba turned onto the road which led to the girl’s house. A fat orange tabby cat was lying in the middle of the road.

His mind still preoccupied, and not wanting to run over it, Kaiba swerved to the right, expecting to run into the fence. What he did not realize was that the fence was weak, and it gave way and fell down into the ocean below. Kaiba plunged into the water. For a moment, he could see stars. He felt the velvet box slip from his fingers, and then the world went black.
