Bella
“Alice NO!”
“For the last time Bella, stop your complaining!” Alice was trying to set me up again! This time to a boy she described as ‘incredibly lonely’.
“I don’t want another blind date. I want to be left alone!” I threw a pillow at her, this was the last straw.
“Edward is really nice, at least I think. He sounds like your type. I don’t want you to put him off by coming in your ‘save the animals’ t-shirt, and your oldest jeans. I’m taking you shopping.”
I like that t-shirt! She just directly challenged my choice in clothes, and then she wanted to take me shopping. Shopping with Alice was hell on earth!
“Alice, I get that you don’t approve of my clothes or my refusal to date anyone, but you have gone too far.”
Edward sounded like a complete moron! Everyone I knew told me all he ever did was hang out alone, because he constantly put people off by making rude comments. His room mate doesn’t even hang around him. She could have at least picked somebody more likeable….
“Bella, you have refused to go out with every suitable guy in this school. Edward may not be your first choice or heck even your 10th choice, but give him a chance.”
It was true that I had never seen the guy. I had only gone with Alice’s stories, and Ben, Angela’s boyfriend’s opinion of him. Emmett had just told me the guy was a complete jerk, more or less.
“Fine, but you heard what Ben, and Emmett told me! If this date turns into a disaster, I blame you!”
“Ben is his room mate, and I consider that a bias opinion. Emmett can hardly be considered a reliable source. His choice in girls is horrible!”
Emmett had been dating Rosalie for five months, and Alice hated her. They had both rubbed the wrong way, and I have to admit Rosalie isn’t the nicest girl ever. She seemed to dislike us both from the start.
“Okay good point, but he is your brother. Just because his girlfriend is a little more than unpleasant, doesn’t mean you can avoid him.”
She had refused to see Emmett whenever she was around, and I missed my best friend’s brother, because he was one of my best friends too. Emmett, Alice, Jasper, and me had completely hit off when I came to Forks. Alice was my first new friends there followed by her brother, and her boyfriend Jasper.
Now we were going to college in San Francisco, California. We were all freshman and it had been almost five years since we had become friends. Angela Weber was another one of my friends, along with her long time boyfriend Ben. What puzzled me was that even Ben thought Edward was a jerk, he usually liked everyone. Alice was pushing me too far, again!
“How about this, if you go on a date with Edward, me and Jasper, Emmett and Rosalie, and Angela and Ben, will all go on a double date.”
This did sound rather pleasing…. We hadn’t been out together in ages. It was almost like old times. Well subtracting Edward and Rosalie of course. Maybe Edward and Rosalie should date each other because they both were pig heads, maybe I should date Mike instead.
That wouldn’t be fair though, while I liked Mike a lot I wasn’t sure if I liked him at way. At times I was sure I did and other times he was just a very good friend. He seemed to like me a lot. He never gave up despite my refusal to date.
“Ok Alice, I will try. Who knows this might be a nice experience for me.”
It was true, that I had never been on a date. Lots of boys asked me out but I always felt that I should only date until I was sure I had found the right one. Now that Mike had come along last year I thought he might be the one. If only I could muster up the confidence to ask Alice for advice! She like Emmett and Jasper thought Mike was a fool. I didn’t want to embarrass myself in front of them when I wasn’t sure…
“Oh Bella I knew I could wear you down! Please don’t think I’m being pushy, I just want you to stop being picky and find someone. Now let’s go shopping!”
Alice had been dragging me around the Fairview mall for hours. First we went to a ridiculously over priced clothing store were she made me try on a whole bunch of dresses. I went with a knee length gothic style, black dress. It was cute, and Alice agreed with me.
Next we went to a shoes store. Alice insisted on buying me some super long black heels, and I told her no. We both compromised on some inch thick soled platform heels. This way I might be able to avoid tripping over everything.
The last store Alice took me to was a department store. She went off to look at makeup for herself and me while I wondered around. My official job was to look for accessories. So I didn’t disappoint Alice, I went to look at necklaces. I found an awesome silver chain with a red apple at the bottom. The apple even opened up like a locket.
Deciding I had some time to spare I headed over to the sunglasses. Seeing no one there I started trying on several pairs. Some were huge and white, some were catlike, but the worst was completely covered in fake rhinestones. When I looked in the mirror I started hysterically laughing. To make myself laugh even more I made funny faces in the mirror. That was when I was interrupted by a beautiful annoyed voice.
“Excuse me, but can you stop doing that? You look like an idiot!”
I swirled around to see a male about 22 years old. His hair was a bronze-brown color. He had tan skin like he just got back from the beach, and wonderful green eyes. I was practically swimming in them before he interrupted again.
First he did a double take on me and made a disgusted sound. “Your clothes are crap! ‘Save the Animals’? Don’t tell me you are one of those annoying vegetarians?”
I started blushing a furious shade of red, it slowly faded it pink. Who did this guy think he was? Just because he was hot doesn’t mean he could go around flaunting himself.
“It just so happens that I am! What are you a jerk that goes around bugging people? Get a life already!”
He looked dumbfounded! I walked away, hoping to prove that he didn’t affect me. In a hurry to walk faster I tripped over my own shoe when I twisted sideways.
To my complete horror that guy caught me. Oh crap! That had to me the worst mouth off ever! I looked thankfully at him to show that I wasn’t mad anymore.
“The worst case of clumsiness I have ever seen!” He chuckled. Now he just pissed me off again!
“Well at least I’m not a jerk!” That should show him!
He smiled mischievously. “Fine if that’s how you feel I’ll get away from you!”
I had hit the ground before I knew he dropped me. What an Asshole! Just then I heard footsteps coming near me.
“Bella? I have been looking for you everywhere, and I find you sprawled out on the floor!” She helps me back up to my feet. “What in the world happened?”
I told her my story while we walked over to the checkout stand to buy our items. Needless to stay she agreed with me. “That guy is a complete ass! If I were you I would have punched him in the mouth!”
She shows me her fist, and demonstrated. I laughed out loud because the idea of Alice punching that guy seemed prosperous.
After everything was bought, we made our way to the car. I was frightened to think of what Alice had in store for me when we made it to the dorm.
Edward
I needed some sunglasses. I looked around. The department store, it was huge! So far I had picked out my outfit for tonight’s date, gotten some decent shoes, and talked to Alice on the phone. She had said I would need the sunglasses for tonight, why I couldn't imagine.
I spotted the sunglasses over in the right corner of the store. Getting there I mental pictured what Alice told me to get.
"Black, and all black," she had said.
Suddenly I spotted the perfect pair. I took them over to try them on. The only problem was a girl was standing in front of the mirror, wearing a pair of rhinestone glasses making silly faces.
“Excuse me, but can you stop doing that? You look like an idiot!” I did this to piss her off, so she would get away from the mirror. She didn't actually look stupid. In fact she looked quite pretty. Her eyes were a classic shade of brown, her hair was long and wispy, and her skin was a pale white color that reminded me of cream.
I noticed what she was wearing, and I had the urge to piss her off more to see how she would react. “Your clothes are crap! ‘Save the Animals’? Don’t tell me you are one of those annoying vegetarians?” This didn't go too smoothly.
“It just so happens that I am! What are you a jerk that goes around bugging people? Get a life already!” With that she started walking away.
Ok so I deserved that, but I was just having a little fun. She wasn't supposed to try to mouth me off. People usually just took my comments silently, even though they continued to think I was an ass.
I watched her walk. She was walking very fast in a confident manner. I also saw the way her legs moved uncoordinatedly to keep up with her pace. She was going to trip sooner or later.
I started walking up to tell her to slow down. Sure enough she tripped. I caught her.
She looked up at me gratefully. This was a major improvement, obviously her temper didn't hold long.
I tried to make conversation. “The worst case of clumsiness I have ever seen!” I started laughing while I said that, and came off offending again.
“Well at least I’m not a jerk!” Ouch.
I decided to play along with her assumptions; I wasn't going to be able to change her mind. So I dropped her. By the look on her face she wasn't expecting that. I speed off before she could look at my face again.
Later while I was in the checkout line I wondered what had gotten into me. Why had I acted like a moron?
Oh well... At least I had a new start with my date tonight.
Please review! Oh and I added Edward's poit of view for this chapter. Some of the other characters will have their say in the other chapters as well.
