Disclaimer: I own neither Death Note or Caramelldansen.

A/N: This is the one I've been waiting for! I can't wait to write something based loosely around Caramelldansen. If you've heard this song, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about. If you haven't, open a new tab, go to YouTube, type in Caramelldansen, and watch the little video with the dancing pink people (make sure it doesn't say "original". You'll want the speed mix). It is physically impossible not to dance along, or at least rock back and forth a little. I dare you to try it.

Caramelldansen

L sat at his desk, staring into the depths of his keyboard as he munched on what had to be his eighth piece of cake that day.

And it was only nine in the morning.

Anyway, he was incredibly absorbed in his work. His brain was working hard, establishing connections between evidence, pulling up new suspects, and still observing Misa Amane for any suspicious activity. Yes, he was one hell of a multi-tasker. Raito was right beside him, doing the exact same thing. Except for looking at Misa. He tried not to do that very often. Anyway, the blonde on the big screen flopped onto her sofa and pulled out a suspicious looking object. Ok, so it was only a cell phone. But still! What if she was communicating with Kira?

"Someone turn up the volume to the screen. I want to observe Misa-san's phone call. She might be attempting to communicate with someone on the outside, possibly even Kira." L's command was immediately obeyed, and soon the entire task force was treated to a mind-numbing debate between Misa and some friend of hers. The subject they were disputing over was epic indeed: Is hairspray better for all-day-hold than hair gel?. The two girls argued this back and forth, until the girl on the other side of the line finally had to go.

"Ok, I'll talk to you later! Love ya, bye!" Misa finished up her phone call, and turned, stretching. L was relieved.

"Alright, you can turn the volume down again." Matsuda rushed over the the large screen and tried to turn the volume knob. Suddenly, he turned around, looking guilty.
"Ryuuzaki?"

"Yes, Matsuda-san?"

"The knob broke off..." Sure enough, Matsuda held up a little circular object that looked suspiciously like a volume knob in his hand. Raito leaned forward toward the screen. There was no volume control now. The only volume was "high".

"Matsuda! What did you do?!"

"Raito-kun! Stop glaring at Matsuda-san! This is a matter of no importance, so long as Misa-san stays relatively quiet, our work will not be interrupted. So, let's stop squabbling like children and get back to work!" With Ryuuzaki's command, all was peaceful.

For about five minutes.

L was once again in his ninja-like state of multi- task, when suddenly, a loud noise punctured his bubble of thought. Or maybe, exploded is the right word. Jumping in his chair, L called out, "WHAT is that infernal racket!" Everyone looked at the monitor to Misa's room to be met with the image of Misa dancing around, her hands flapping above her head as her hips jerked side to side rather violently. All in all, the task force was rather startled by this sudden burst of speed music music...

"Matsuda-san! Please go to Misa-san's room and ask her to turn down this... music, I suppose it is..." L asked, still rather shocked. Matsuda left at a run, leaving the task force slightly stunned and dazed.

"He's arrived" Raito called out as they watched Matsuda enter Misa's room at full speed. They listened for a few minutes while he explained the problem and asked her nicely to turn the music down. There, everything was settled, right?

WRONG!

Misa seemed a little hurt, and then she turned the music back on, grabbing Matsuda's hands.

"Dance, Matsu!" she shouted cheerfully, waving his hands for him. And the task force watched in awe as Matsuda joined Misa in this strange dance.

"Damn it, Matsuda! Can't you do anything right?!" Raito yelled in frustration at the screen, not caring that the idiots dancing around couldn't hear him anyway. L looked murderous.

"All right, Raito-kun! I should have known that if I wanted it done right, I should have had anyone but Matsuda-san do it. We will be going to Misa-san's room ourselves." And so the boys journeyed to the room of Misa Amane.

"What is going on?" Raito shouted as he and L walked through the door. Misa abruptly stopped her crazy dance and zoomed to him like she had magnets on her. And the magnets happened to be in her hands and his chest.

"Raito! I'm so glad you came to see me!" She looked almost in tears of joy. Ryuuzaki seemed to be giggling to himself, which earned him a glare from Raito (over Misa's unsuspecting head). Then, with a sudden change in attitude, she greeted L. "Hi, Ryuuzaki." she said, rolling her eyes.

"Actually, Misa, we just came to ask you to turn down your music. There's a problem with the sound system and the music is interrupting the important work of the task force." Matsuda, skulking in the background, looked a bit embarrassed at this.

Misa pouted, "But it's Caramelldansen! How can it bother anyone?" L suddenly erupted into a "coughing fit" that sounded remarkably like, "Do something Raito!"

So Raito did something.

"Misa, how about if Ryuuzaki and I dance with you, you'll turn it off, just for a little while...love" he added as an extra bonus. Of course Misa agreed.

"Raito! Okay! We'll dance together, then I'll turn it off!" So it was that Caramelldansen went back on. And Misa and Matsuda began to all out dance.

"Raito! You promised!" So Raito swung his hips from side to side a little, skipping the hand-flapping. L just stood there.

"Ryuuzaki, I promised her that BOTH of us would dance. You wanted the music off, damn it, so you dance with us." Raito hissed at the detective, who began to shake his hips a little. A little.

But as the song progressed, L seemed to have more fun, getting into the whole groove of it. And dancing in a circle with Misa and Matsuda. Had the whole world gone mad?

Not quite. But it did eventually.

When the rest of the task force showed up to speed along the music-going-off mission.

Misa took it all in stride... with, "Come on everybody!"

And so it was that the entire Kira Task Force spent the afternoon dansen(not a typo) away
