The first part of the preface in italics is part of ‘New Moon’ (pg. 508 and 509) by Stephenie Meyer. I do not own it, and I did not write it. This fan-fiction takes place during ‘New Moon’, right after Edward tells Bella he lied to her about not loving her. In my opinion this is what should have happened. Please review, if you want to tell me what you think.

He brushed the tip of his cool finger against my lower lip. “Bella, you seem to be under a misapprehension.” He closed his eyes, shaking his head back and forth with half a smile on his beautiful face. It wasn’t a happy smile. “I thought I’d explained it clearly before. Bella, I can’t live in a world where you don’t exist.”

“I am…” My head swam as I looked for the appropriate word. “Confused.” That worked. I couldn’t make sense of what he was saying.

He stared deep into my eyes with his sincere, earnest gaze. “I’m a good liar, Bella, I have to be.”

I froze, my muscles locking down as if for impact. The fault line in my chest rippled; the pain of it took my breath away.

Bella

He tried to touch me, to comfort me. I backed away. “You lied to me,” My tone was full of accusation.

“Only so you could have a normal life. Now I can see it hasn’t worked out, and I’m back.”

I stared at him expectantly, he wasn’t getting the point. He couldn’t just waltz back into my life like nothing had happened. He had been gone for almost a year. According to him he had left because he thought it would be better for me. My pain had been for nothing. How could he have done that to me?

“Bella, I” I cut him off.

“Edward you don’t get it, people don’t do things like that to someone that they love. I can’t just let you back in like nothing has happened, you hurt me.”

“Bella I never meant to hurt you.” He pointed to my bed. “Sit down so we can talk.”

“Get the hell out of house, Edward. Just get out.”

“But Bella…”

“Talking isn’t going to fix us Edward. It will take time.”

“I don’t get it. Don’t you love me?” I looked up at his face, his expression almost made me crumble. Then I remembered what I had gone through, because of him.

“Of course I love you Edward. But Love isn’t enough here. I need to trust you, and to be honest I don’t. I don’t even think I will ever be able to trust you again.”

“Does it have anything to do with the dog?” He sounded angry now.

“No, it has nothing to do with Jacob. He is my best friend, and only that.”

“Then why?”

“Edward you were my life, when you left I had lost half of me. I thought it was because you didn’t love me anymore, and I understood that. Now you are telling me you still loved me, and you did that to me. I wouldn’t be able to look at you the same way anymore, much less being around you knowing that.”

He seemed to consider what I said. “Ok Bella I will get out, but I will not give up. I am still going to be there, and I am going to make you trust me again.” He took one last look at him before climbing down my tree.

I walked over and shut my window. The tears started coming before I sat down on my bed.

That night when I went to sleep, I had a nightmare. Only this time Edward was ripping my heart out of my chest. I screamed, just like so many nights before.

Edward

I ran all the way home, knowing that if I even stopped to think or consider what Bella had said I would have a mental breakdown.

When I stepped through the door of my house Alice, Jasper, Emmett, Rosalie, Esme, and Carlisle were all sitting on the couch. Alice stood up and hugged me.

“I’m sorry, Edward. She just needs time. She deserves time.”

I looked over at Jasper. He was running his hands through his hair, trying to control my emotions.

“It was for her greater good, she should understand,” Rosalie whispered. Of course she would think that. She didn’t know Bella, and she didn’t know what she had gone through. For that matter either did I.

“I don’t agree. This is all your fault. If you would have listened to Alice, Jasper, and me this would not have happened.” Emmett paused. “You did this to yourself.”

He was right of course. I had done this to myself.

I can’t take this anymore, the sadness from Edward, the anger from Emmett, the stupidity from Rosalie, and the pity from everyone else…

“Jasper’s going to blow!” I yelled.

Everyone got safely out of the way before Jasper freaked out.

Jasper ran through the house like a mad man, trying to make his way upstairs so he could lock himself in the bathroom. One his way he broke two doors, made a hole in the wall, and snapped off a bit of the railing for the stairs.

Alice ran up to talk to him.

My whole family stayed up with me the entire night. Emmett gave me angry glares for hours, Rosalie tried to comfort with stupid thoughts on how it wasn’t my fault. Esme and Carlisle, just sat there thinking. Their thoughts were all about Bella, and how I could fix this.

Eventually Jasper and Alice came back down.

“I had a vision, about Bella Edward.”

“What, what was it?” I had a stutter in my voice.

“I saw her past. She wasn’t doing so well Edward.” She stopped, and stared around at everyone. “She isn’t going to be doing well for a while, she’s hurting. It’s worse than what I saw from you, when we left. She isn’t going to be able to deal, like you were. She’s going to collapse, if you force her into anything.”

Collapse? What did Alice mean?

“What do you mean Alice?”

“Bella isn’t going to get over this Edward, and you have to give her some time to learn. I can see that she can’t live without you, but she needs to learn to trust you again. Edward, you need to start over with her. Teach her to trust you.”

I started sobbing, being without Bella while she was so near, and having to start all over seemed like a sort of hell on earth.

Alice started talking again. “She needs to know that you love her. She doesn’t understand what you did.”

I sobbed even louder. Bella didn’t even know I loved her anymore, because I had heart her so much. What had she gone through, that was that bad? I needed to know.

“Will everything turn out all right Alice?”

“It depends on what you do. I have seen many outcomes, and not all of them are happy.”

“Which one is it?” I knew she couldn’t answer me, but I still had to ask.

“Only time will tell.”

Ok I know this was a confusing chapter. I know it might not make any sense, but please give it another shot. Setting the mood for this was really hard.

Please review, and give me some opinions!
