“I’m bored.”

“Well, that makes two of us.”

The two of them sat there on the fairway in the middle of the new country club. They wore matching, dark green shirts with their names printed neatly on tags attached to their shirts. Both of them had been so excited about finally getting jobs for the summer, and what better way to make easy money by bussing old people on golf carts and collecting their pay? What they hadn’t signed up for though, was the immense amount of boredom that came with it, and Hayner was certainly not one for boredom.

“Where’s Pence and Olette today, Roxas?” the boy asked his friend. By now, the two were sprawled out on the grass with their eyes closed and hands behind their heads. The sun beat down on them strongly, causing beads of sweat to trickle down their faces.

“I think Olette said she was dragging Pence to the mall with her today,” Roxas answered, stifling a long, lazy yawn. “God, I wish I was with them in the air conditioning.”

And that’s when one of Hayner’s bright ideas hit him. But then again, that was deep, heavy sarcasm because none of Hayner’s ideas are very bright. “Hey, Roxas. I dare you to drive us to the mall.”

Roxas sat up abruptly with one eye open. “What?”

Hayner sat up as well, as if challenging him. “I said, I dare you to…”

“No, I heard what you said,” Roxas interrupted. “It was more like a ‘What…the hell are you thinking, Hayner?’ Are you trying to get us fired before we’ve even been on the job for a week?!”

Hayner got right in his best friend’s face and smirked. “I triple dog dare you.”

Now, Roxas remembered what happened last summer when Hayner triple dog dared him to do something stupid. They had ended up in an awkward position that wasn’t very good-looking when Fuu came by and got a picture of them in their tangle and posted it on the Internet.

“Absolutely not.”

“Roxas, what the hell!? Slow down!!”

“You on my foot, Hayner!!”

“Hey look, there’s Olette and Pence!”

Roxas slowed down and crept up on their friends. “Hey, Olly! Hiya, Pence!” Hayner exclaimed.

Olette stood there in shock to see the boys driving a golf cart through the mall. “Are you supposed to be riding a golf cart through the mall!?” she cried.

“Of course not, silly,” Hayner replied. “Why would I ride a golf cart if I was allowed to?”

Roxas turned to Hayner. “…Hayner, that makes no sense.”

Then again, nothing Hayner did ever made sense.
