A/N: I have no clue where this story has been going over the last year or so… maybe two years but just so you know I haven’t given up… I am just trying to remember where I left off and where it had originally been going.

Chapter 6

Combat

When Robin had gotten back to the tower he knew his team would be out in the city already, but he wanted to pick up a few things. Emergency things, things that he swore he would never use unless absolutely needed. He ran up to his room and jumped to the opposite side of his bed. He reached around the backside of the bedside table and pushed a small black button.

Instantly the wall next to his bed opened and before him lay an arsenal. Some of Batman’s inventions that he had refused to ever use, unless they were in dire need and at this point it was way passed dire and more at the point of no return. Even if Robin stopped Slade today, this very minute, there would be damage done that could never be fixed. So many people were already dead because no one could stop him. That was the thing though; Robin and his team had stopped him before. Three times actually, nothing like adding a fourth time to the mix, especially when Slade was involved.

Robin packed all the weapons he had stored in the secret compartment and then turned to his closet. He needed to be darker, not because he was going to go insane but because tonight he would be doing recon… and he needed to be able to disappear. Batman had always taught Robin to fight fire with fire. What better way to fight a dark figure then to be dark yourself? If Slade wanted to use firepower and sneak about then so would Robin and his team. The people of the city wouldn’t like it, but they had no choice, it was time to bring them into this war and tell them exactly what was going on. If they hadn’t figured it out already.

(BREAK)

Cyborg and the rest of the team rushed around the fallen tower. They searched not only for civilians but also for league members. “Where is Robin!” Terra called.

“I don’t know but he is ignoring his communicator.” Raven said.

“Don’t worry about Robin right now, Terra and Raven keep digging, Beast Boy keep sniffing and Starfire don’t give up, keep flying over, if you see anything let us know!” The team went back to work. They had been here for three hours now with out their leader digging, helping civilians who made it and helping find the bodies of the ones who didn’t.

Beast Boy had been counting, 15 survivors, and 150 deaths. Even though he hadn’t expected the survivors to out number the dead he had still been surprised. Beast Boy jerked his head up as some of the loss rocks gave out below Terra; she had managed to catch herself though. Beast Boy relaxed and went back to sniffing. All he ever did was watch Terra now that she had returned. All he ever did was worry for her, was she stable now? Could she control it? Was she a double agent? They would never be able to prove anything, but she had gone so long with out even hinting at betraying them.

No strang behavior and of course the fact that all those years ago she had betrayed Slade to help them. Had this been part of a bigger plan? To hard to believe, but stranger things had happened. And how quickly he was willing to take her back into his heart. How quickly he allowed himself to love her again and cherish her and want and need her. She was so beautiful and yet, Beast boy remembered the angry Terra, that one he had had so many nightmares about. It was hard to forget something that was that ingrained into your subconscious. But he was going to try, for Terra and for himself.

Cyborg raised his head at Robin’s motorcycle rounded a corner and swerved to miss a large rock Terra had just tossed. “Oh my God Robin! I am so sorry!” She said jumping down and rushing over, “I swear I didn’t see you!” She paused a moment and looked him up and down. “Nice out fit.”

“Thanks, don’t worry I have one for you too… your folks make it out okay?” Terra nodded, “They left the city a few days ago to lead a rebellion against some of Slade’s spreading forces in the East.”

“Did you let the Titans East know they were coming?” Robin asked walking over towards the large Space station that crunched most of the city. “None of us have been able to get a hold of them, their communicators are unable to get our signal since Slade took over the satellites.”

“Have to fix that.” Robin said to himself. “Team, report.” Robin said. The titans rushed over to stand in a circle. Cyborg spoke first, “It’s looking like no league members were on the station when it crashed… but we have no clue where they went.”

“I haven’t been able to pick up any brain waves either… and when we managed to get inside to look we found no information that could give us a clue as to what happened.” Raven added.

“I know what happened.” Robin said. The team looked at him, no shock apparent, that was good, they were getting used to Robin’s random knowledge.

“Slade brought it down.”

“Well that was obvious.” Raven said.

“But somehow, with out anyone knowing, he got the entire league to leave it before he brought it down. So now, Slade must have the League.”

Stone cold Silence, no one spoke, no one moved, and no one breathed.

Finally, “So what do we do about it?” Terra asked looking at the team “We can’t just take this laying down.”

“We won’t. Trust me, I have already figured out a plan… one that might have a chance of working…”

“Oh glorious friend Robin!” Starfire said hugging him.

“But listen to me when I say this won’t be easy and it could take a long time. And unfortunately it’s going to take effort from all of you, more effort then I have a right to ask for, perhaps more effort then any of you are willing to give or are able to give. But if you are willing to listen and hear me out we may still have a chance to turn this whole thing around.” Robin said looking at his team.

“We’ve come this far Robin. We aren’t going to back out on you now.” Cyborg said. The rest of the team nodded.

“Okay then here is what we are going to do…”

Slade sat on his throne, before him screens lit up, screens that covered places all over the Earth. They filled the wall before him, there had to be over a hundred. He stared watching and waiting. Finally he noticed in a screen over to his right that Robin had finally shown up in the city. Slade pushed a button on the arm of his throne and all the screens became one large image. And it was Robin talking to his team.

Unfortunately due to some rebels that had escaped from their cells in his tower his audio was not working. They had been so kind as to try and destroy the power grid that Slade used to power his tower. Lucky most had been killed or trapped; the ones who had managed to get away were being hunted down as he was sitting there.

So he watched and thought and wondered what the boy wonder was planning. Odd outfit of choice, a simple black jump suit, with a black belt and boots. Gloves too, and it appeared to be black metal that adorned him and protected him on his shoes, fore arms, chest and legs. Odd for him, rather dark, but perhaps he was planning on doing some spy work.

He talked for a long time, everyone few minutes a team member would comment. Finally they all put their hands in and did a break just like a football team. How cute. Slade thought. Robin went to his bike and pulled off a large set of saddlebags. He handed out parcels to all of them, and for Cyborg he tossed a can or two of spray paint. Slade managed to catch Robin mouth the words PUT THEM ON. Before Starfire’s head got in the way. The team changed quick and each one had an outfit that in some way resembled their own but also resembled Robin’s new one.

He talked some more and Slade managed to catch a word or two from Robin’s mouth that looked like PARK, MEETING, and CIVILIANS. So Slade’s best guess what that Robin was going to have a meeting in the park and he wanted civilians there. As many as he could get, it appeared that Robin was going to try and start something. Perhaps a real war, if only, it would give Slade some new people to kill. Perhaps Robin wasn’t totally useless after all. This would be most interesting.
