I Remember You Well

I looked at you, you stole my heart
You were all that I anticipated
I wanted you, every part
But I knew love would be complicated.

I began to touch but you wouldn’t let it
It never seemed to be the right time
I started to give up, down to the limit
And then you changed your mind.

Chapter Two: Most Dangerous Game, Indeed.

They stared at Bella in shock; even Emmett was looking through the rearview mirror at her. Again, she seemed not to even recognize this as she stared on into the darkness, breathing in the freshly scented air. Carlisle then shifted his gaze to look at Edward, who had a very hopeful look on his face.

That doesn’t necessarily mean anything, Edward.

He attempted to ignore the loud voice of his father in his head, keeping his eyes on Bella.

Listen to me, Edward. I can’t fathom what you’re feeling right now. Just know that we will get through this. Your Bella will return to you. You must have faith, give her some space and she will come around on her own time. Don’t force anything from the past you share upon her.

Edward turned his head and looked away, focusing on the passing scenery as they took a sharp turn off of the road and began traveling through the forest at a rather dangerous speed (for a human, anyway). He instinctively reached a protective arm around Bella, pulling her seatbelt around her and buckling it in. It was unnecessary, but he felt a lot safer with her having it on, even now.

The bumpy ride was coming to a stop, “I think we beat them,” Emmett said, grinning as he turned his lights off and drove a little further. When he came to a stop, he put the car in park. Opening his car door before stepping out, “The smell of victory is so sweet.”

“Not too sweet for you,” a hummingbird voice spoke from somewhere in front of them. A pair of car lights shone in their eyes and the car sped up, as if it were coming straight at Emmett. He looked as if he were bracing himself, a necessary precaution.

The car was silent, the only sound made was as it turned to the left a little and the driver slammed on the breaks, stopping mere inches from where Emmett stood.

The yellow Porsche didn’t even appear to have gotten any dirt on it as Alice and Jasper got out of the car, “We’ve been waiting for at least five minutes.”

“Double or nothing you said, right?” Jasper asked, a smug look on his face.

Emmett rolled his eyes, “Yeah, yeah.”

Back in the car, Bella unbuckled her seat belt and slid out the door with help from Edward who was standing protectively behind her. “This is going to be slightly dangerous,” he told her, “more so for the animal than you, but none of us want you to get hurt.”

She nodded her head, “I’ll do what I’m told to the best of my abilities.” It was all she could say, it was all she could truly hope to do.

“I say we split up, three and three, then meet back here and see who has the best catch,” Emmett offered.

Alice shook her head, “Jasper, don’t even. You’ll loose.”

“Alice you’re such a cheater,” Emmett scolded.

She just threw him a grin and grabbed Jasper’s hand before heading in the direction of the forest, “Come with us, Carlisle, and you two keep Bella safe!”

Carlisle followed the bright couple, and they all seemed to vanish in a mist of white haze as they took off into the forest.

“This will be your first time running, I think you’ll be able to handle it,” Emmett said, taking in a deep breath, letting whatever pitiful prey that was out there overwhelm his senses.

“You should be able to smell something, by now,” Edward said to Bella.

“Sort of,” she replied, breathing in. “It’s coming from over there, and it smells like…” she trailed off, breathing in again.

“Like a bear, and it’s mine,” Emmett shouted before dashing off in the direction the scent flowed to them from.

“So much for showing me the ropes…”

Edward chuckled softly, “Yeah…Emmett tends to get a little excited about everything, all the time.”

“I noticed,” she said, smiling at the only person she had been left with.

“Come on, there’s a little coven up this way,” he told her, pointing in a direction none of the other family members had went. “We’ll have to run, or we can take our time if you’d like…”

“I’d like to run, but I don’t think I’m as fast as any of them were,” she shook her head, a doubtful look on her face.

“You just might be,” he held a hand out for her to take and without thinking she graciously accepted it. He started off slowly, in what was of a human-like trot and then a sprint. They were running, as fast as their legs desired.

Bella was amazed at how she felt, she wasn’t even having a hard time breathing, yet she felt she could out run a cheetah at this pace. Looking down, her feet seemed to be moving a lot quicker than any other part of her body, as were his. He looked at her and smiled, the smile turned into a grin and he tugged on her hand, pulling her in harder for the final stretch.

She let out a small scream of excitement before letting go of his hand and taking off in front of him. She was out of the forest, in a vast amount of empty space with naught but green grass and many hills. She came to a stop and looked around, wondering where Edward had gone off to.

To her own shock there was no need to catch her breath, it was a steady as it had been when she was just walking. She shut her eyes and let the sounds of nature fill her ears. And then she heard it, the sound of footsteps, more than just Edwards. Her eyes flew open as the sound grew louder and she turned in the direction of which she heard it coming from. There was a massive mountain lion coming towards her, Edward at a teasing distance behind it.

Bella didn’t know what came over her, but she was immediately crouching, one hand on the ground as the mountain lion charged for her. Her teeth were bared once more and a low growl came from some place within her diaphragm that never before was let out. She charged towards the lion, seeing the front legs lift up from the ground and she herself took a leap of faith. Her arms spread wide open and there was a loud crushing sound when her body met with the lions. Her arms then wrapped around it, holding on tight as they collided with the ground, and she rolled over so that she was on top.

The animal could barely move, but it was growling at her, she hissed in return, feeling the same, bitter venomous taste seeping into her mouth again.

She needed no further instruction, her animalistic instinct just took over and she dipped her head down, promptly biting into it. The hair didn’t faze her; there was barely any of it and her teeth seemed to cut through that before she even got to the skin. Once the puncture was made her eyes fluttered shut and she began to steadily suck the moist blood from the animal, her dry throat healing at once.

The taste was new and different. She didn’t know what to compare it to but a very dull, boring copper. She feasted on it nonetheless, sucking the poor animal dry in just a few minutes time. Sitting up, she found Edward staring at her, appearing bewildered. She spat, getting what few hairs that slipped in out of her mouth. Using the back of her hand she wiped her face clean as her eyes turned a brighter shade of red.

“Wow,” was all he could manage to say.

She brought her hand to her throat, this odd sensation running through it as well as her entire body. She felt a little warmer and a little calmer, “I feel like a savage.”

Edward erupted with laughter, walking closer to her. He stopped to grasp the heavy mountain lion with one hand, tossing the dead body over his left shoulder. He put one arm around her, “That was more amazing than anything Emmett has ever done.”

Bella smiled softly to herself, “Thank you…I think. But why are you carrying that thing, now?”

“I’ll have to show them; otherwise they’ll never believe it. This was the leader of the pack, the biggest of them all.”

“I don’t know what came over me,” she admitted.

Edward was happy at that moment, glad he got to share the experience with her. He would have been elated to have his Bella with him, but he came to the conclusion that patience was definitely a virtue. As it was something he himself used to preach to Bella, not wanting her to have sex before marriage.

“There’s another female, lying over there,” he pointed in the direction to their right, “you can have her if you want, I wasn’t too thirsty.”

Bella’s face wrinkled up, “No, thank you,” she said politely. “Does it happen that fast all the time?”

“It depends how thirsty you are. You might need more, you may want something small just to stop the thirst for a little while. You will probably be good for a few days, now,” he chuckled softly. “Can’t say for sure though, newborns are tricky.”

She found herself smiling at the familiar sound of his laugh, and then pondered his last statement. Newborns were tricky? Did they not trust her? It was definitely plausible, he was always around her and even if she couldn’t see him, she could feel or hear him.

Without a fair warning he was taking off in a sprint, “Race you,” he had called.

She smiled to herself before taking off after him, pushing her feet with all her might. She literally felt as if she were leaving a trail of dust behind her. She ran, and ran, and ran, but somehow she didn’t manage to beat him.

It had been a while since Edward drank last, his speed was stifled during their first run but now after drinking he was faster than anything that might come his way. She ran on until she caught up with him, stopping abruptly. She stood as still as stone, not swaying this way or that from the stop.

She didn’t even feel tired now. It was strange, to say the least, but something she welcomed nonetheless.

“Emmett is teasing the bear, still,” Edward announced.

“How do you know?”

“I can hear what he’s thinking,” he explained, momentarily forgetting he had the mountain lion draped over his shoulder. He dropped the animal, causing a loud thud to echo throughout the area.

Bella didn’t seem as surprised as he thought she would be. Hearing the information all over again though this time she would not be expecting any of it. She actually looked up at him and grinned, a teasing grin, “Do you know what I’m thinking?”

Edward already knew the answer to this but for her own pleasure he paused, staring at her brain as if he could see through it, which only caused her grin to widen. In his own head, the only thing he heard were the familiar voices, Emmett, Jasper, Alice, Carlisle, those were the strongest as they were the closest, and then he heard it. It was very faint at first, and foreign, a voice he had never, ever heard in his head before.

Can you hear this? Can you hear me? You can’t read minds! Or maybe you can, can you?

Edward focused on that one voice alone, his eyes locked on hers. How the hell was that happening? Never before had he been able to hear her thoughts and now all of a sudden, when she wanted him to guess what she was thinking he could hear the silly ramblings going on inside? He shook his head, maybe he couldn’t.

“Yes, I can hear you, and yes I can read minds, but let me tell you it’s not as great as you may think.”

“I doubt it’s great, you hardly get any room to yourself in there,” she said, quickly moving so that she was leaning against the front of Emmett’s car.

“Do you know how you said those things to me? In your head, I mean.”

She looked confused, trying to understand what he was attempting to ask. “I just focused on them, focused on you and tried to…open my mind, if you will.” She said before shrugging her shoulders, was it that much of a big deal?

They both turned their heads to the sound of talking vampires exiting the forest at full speed. Carlisle, Alice, and Jasper didn’t stop until they reached the car, Alice positively beaming at her brother.

Edward! She practically screamed in her head. His eyes snapped to her, the look in his eye let her know how unpleasant that was. Sorry, but I saw something, it was for only a brief moment but Bella is going to remember something tomorrow. You have to help her.

“Why is that here?” Jasper asked, looking down at the dead mountain lion.

“It’s my conquest,” Bella said proudly.

“Really?” Alice looked at the animal and nodded her head in approval. “Very nice, I must say, I was rather nervous about all of this my first time hunting. I had a rabbit, it was vile.”

Alice was quite talented in that she continued the conversation with Edward in her head, all the while talking to the rest of her family. Once their conversation was done, which consisted of Alice telling him what she’d see in her vision and his inconspicuous nods, Emmett came running back towards them all, his eyes such a bright gold color when he stopped in front of them.

“Look what Bella attacked,” Alice said, gesturing towards the mountain lion.

Emmett grinned, “You loved every second of it, didn’t you?”

Bella nodded her head, admitting her love for the thrill. It was an instant love too, all the feelings that coursed through her in such a short period of time – she would soon lust for it. “Most dangerous game, indeed, Emmett,” she said before, lightly tapping the dead animal with her foot. “Now, what do you plan on doing with this?”

“We could skin it and hang it in your bedroom,” Emmett offered.

Bella scrunched up her face before shaking her head.

“Just leave it,” Edward piped in, “some kind of scavenger will be feasting tonight.”

“Let’s head back before Esme begins to worry, I told her we’d be gone for about an hour and a half.” Carlisle said, speaking up for the first time in a while.

They all piled back into the cars, the ride home was still the same speed but with a lot less intensity. Once they were at the house, everyone was silent until they entered the living room. Jasper spoke up first, “So, Emmett, about the one hundred dollars…”

“Unless you’re going to spend it right now I’ll get it to you in the morning.”

Jasper chuckled, not worried about the money at all. He just wanted to rub it in as much as he could.

“Emmett, you need counseling,” Rosalie said as she came down the stairs, looking stunning, as usual. Her eyes remained locked on her husband who was standing beside her before she reached the last step.

“No, you know how those two are,” he said, his eyes moved in the direction of Alice and Jasper, “she’s always cheating for him.”

“What can I say? I don’t mind when I’m getting a cut on the winnings.”

Emmett shrugged his shoulders, wrapping an arm around Rosalie’s waist before he leaned down and kissed her softly on the lips.

Edward was forced to look away, forced to concentrate on anything but their thoughts. He spotted Bella on the sofa by herself, her legs pulled against her chest. Her head rested on her knees and her eyes roamed around the room.

He went into the living room, taking a seat on the sofa, making sure to keep himself at a good distance. He glanced over at her, wondering what was passing through her head in that moment. Even when he tried to hear her now, he got not response. Why did it only work so briefly?

“This house really is amazing,” Bella commented, turning her head so that it was facing him. He gave her a strange, concentrated look and she immediately regretted looking at him. She turned her head away, shutting her eyes. “I’m sorry; I suppose it slips my mind how hideous I look.”

“Don’t be ridiculous,” Edward said, reaching out to lightly stroke her hair. “You’re beautiful, Bella, red eyes or not it doesn’t matter to me or to any of us. It’s not permanent either, as long as you don’t drink human blood,” he told her.

“Thank you,” she said, turning to face him once more, a soft smile on her lips.

Edward was letting himself live in that moment for far too long. That smile on her lips directed towards him, perhaps she was becoming more relaxed around him, which was almost too good to be true.

Jasper and Alice came to sit down with them, Alice putting herself in between Edward and Bella, causing him to move his hand from heir soft strands of hair. “Rosalie and Emmett have gone…to bed,” she explained, “Carlisle is in his study and Esme is in their bedroom. So, it looks like it’s just us four tonight.”

Jasper had placed himself on the loveseat and grabbed the remote control, turning on the large flat screen television that they had replaced just a few months ago. They had to spend quite some time without a television after Edward broke it; they were lucky there was a warranty. He channel surfed, feeling at ease with everything, everyone in the room. Now he did not have to feel on edge whenever Bella was around; he no longer yearned to drink her blood.

Bella looked at the three others in the room; they were all so attractive, so beautiful.

“So,” she began, moving herself back on the couch a little, “Carlisle said I went to school with all of you?”

“Yeah, you met Edward first. You were…lab partners, right?”

Edward nodded his head. “You excelled in that class,” he told her, though he seemed to be focusing on something entirely different as he studied Bella’s face. “If you’ll excuse me, I need to talk to Carlisle, I’ll be back later.” He stood from where he sat and raced up the stairs to Carlisle’s study.

“He just needs to ask him something but, anyways, I met you through Edward,” Alice told her.

It was frustrating, having these people care so much for her and she wanted to be able to remember everything she had ever learned about them.

Edward knocked lightly on the door, his lips moving at a rapid pace and his voice barely above a whisper as he asked Carlisle if he could come in. His request was approved and he opened the door to find Carlisle in the room sitting behind his desk.

Edward always had to wonder how he always had so much work to do, so many things to keep himself busy and preoccupied when he wanted to be. “I needed to ask you something about Bella, something that happened after we hunted…”

“Yes?”

“Well, I was explaining to her what was happening to Emmett and how I can read minds, she wasn’t shocked by it as I expected, she asked me if I could find out what she was thinking.”

You’ve never been able to do it before. Carlisle thought, “Continue,” he said, wondering if Edward was giving him the courtesy of staying out of his mind while they had a face to face discussion, alone.

“I try, Carlisle, but sometimes I can’t stay out, all minds are pulling me into them.”

“Of course, I apologize Edward, but please do continue,” he told him.

“I heard what she was thinking, Carlisle…I asked her how she was able to ask me those questions in her head, but I don’t know…is it possible?” He asked.

“Bella has always had a strong mind, we know that…maybe it’s gotten to the point where she can control it? She can put up a shield or let her guard down if she wants. I’m not sure, really…it would make sense as you do carry over the strongest part of you after you change.”

Edward nodded his head, taking a seat in the chair in front of Carlisle’s desk. “Alice said she saw something, too. Probably in the same moment that I heard what she was thinking…”

“What did she see? Is everything alright?”

“She says Bella will remember something tomorrow, but I have to get a few things to be able to show her…”

When Edward returned downstairs, Alice had pulled Bella a lot closer to her and was lightly stroking her hair. There was no reason to be jealous at all, but Edward just wished Bella would allow him to do that. However, he’d definitely be getting too close for comfort. Jasper sat on the floor, against the wall where the flat screen television was (he looked so small in comparison to it). A guitar was in his lap and he lightly strummed on the strings, humming to himself.

Edward sat on the sofa at the end of Bella’s feet, his eyes on her as she watched Jasper so intently. He wanted to figure out just what it was that made her so keen on the rest of his family, but not so much him. She was resentful; he could get a sense of it. Maybe her feelings from the time when he left were what she harbored, subconsciously, towards him.

Alice had her eyes locked on Jasper as well; the thoughts passing through her head were those of admiration and love. Her eyes were torn away then, and she looked at Edward, smiling softly at her brother. It will get better, I promise you. Anything that I find out, I will help you if I can.

Edward nodded. He really loved Alice as a sister. They were the freaks amongst freaks and initially bonded over that, always being able to help each other using their abilities.

She will come around to you.

Jasper’s playing became louder and he grinned up at Alice as he started to sing.

You got me to feel all those butterflies inside,

In your locker I would hide

The truth, it’s only you I see…

And you’re just what I need.

I’d bring you flowers everyday

Just to roll you in the hay.

Well I’m feeling fine, I’m right on time

I know I’ll get my way.”

Alice couldn’t refrain from giggling at her husband; he knew she had a weak spot for that song, that it always made her smile and feel giddy inside. The joy she felt in that moment radiated towards him, and he relished in it as he continued strumming on the guitar. His eyes shifted to Bella, and there was something else coming from her, relaxed or at ease would be the best way to describe it. He smiled at Bella and she returned the gesture before he shifted his gaze to Edward. Edward was…confused, to say the least. He felt for his brother, and that was all he could really say on the matter. He wanted things to get better for him, but it would take time; and a lot of heartache of that he was certain.

The four spent the rest of the night enjoying themselves. Jasper continued playing the guitar until Bella asked if she could try, or if he could teach her something. He attempted, but she just wasn’t good at it. She laughed, or rather, they all laughed as her chords came out sloppy. She came to the conclusion that she wasn’t musically inclined in anyway and they all roared with laughter again. Sometime in the night, Emmett came down the stairs clad in a pair of sweat pants, apparently Rosalie was taking a rather long bath and he would much rather be in on the fun than waiting hours for her to come back out.

Before they knew it, it was light outside and though the sun wasn’t beaming, it was the beginning of a beautiful day.

Carlisle and Esme came downstairs and at once the house seemed to be buzzing with life. Strange to think that it wasn’t really buzzing with life per se, commotion seemed to be a more fitting word as everyone adjusted themselves to allow room for the family to sit comfortable.

Bella stood from her seat, muttering something about another shower before she took off upstairs. In a flash she was at the bathroom door. She pushed it open, remembering that she had shattered the entire mirror. She stopped and began to put as many pieces of glass into the trash as she could. As soon as that was done she started the water and eventually stepped into the shower.

She took her time in the shower, really feeling that there was no rush…at all. She wondered what to do with all of her time now that she had twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week to do whatever she wished.

Once she got out of the shower, in a more subtle way than last time, she busied herself around the room, more in the closet than anywhere else. She browsed through the racks of clothes that were hers and picked out a pair khaki pants and black tee-shirt with a tan color around the edges, including the collar and the low v-neck. The material of the shirt felt smooth and soft as she slid it over her skin. She grabbed a pair of black socks from the dresser drawer and slipped them on before wandering around in search of a hair tie.

The room was littered with music CD’s, not to mention the large sound system. She pressed play, turning the knob that controlled the volume at the same time so she wasn’t blown away by the speakers. The sound that came out was soft, and sounded vaguely familiar but she couldn’t really put a finger on it.

There was a knock at the door and she told whomever it was to come in. It was Edward, she might have known.

“Debussy,” he told her, nodding his head towards the stereo system.

“Debussy,” she repeated.

“I have something to show you,” he said, clearing his throat as he walked closer to her.

“Do you now?” She asked, sitting on the bed, eyeing him carefully.

He brought a hand out from behind his back and produced a shoebox. “It’s ironic, really. You called it your little memory box…and hopefully it will help you recall something. I mean, there’s no pressure on you or anything – you know that, right?”

Bella shrugged her shoulders before reaching out for the box. He handed it to her and she immediately opened it, just staring at the contents inside. Her gaze went up to meet his. “Did you want me to leave?” He waited for her reaction, feeling tense as she mulled the idea over in her head. He let out a sigh of relief when she shook her head, no.

He moved closer to the bed, leaning against the side of it as her head reached into the box, producing a small stack of pictures. She set them aside, there were plane tickets, a charm bracelet, a folded up note, and a rather thick wad of money. Her eyebrows fused together as she stared at everything in contemplation. First she picked up the wad of money, how much was it and how had she gotten it?

“Your savings, sort of…you have a whole lot more now but that’s just a little that you took out,” Edward told her, letting his words come out slowly. She did have a lot more money now in the bank. Thanks in large parts to Edward.

Next she picked up the note, her eyes scanning over it quickly. It made no sense. The two writers, one of whom she figured to be herself, were talking about an airplane and if it crashed. She concentrated on the script, knowing the sloppy one to be hers and the more elegant looking one to be…she glanced up at Edward, he nodded his head softly.

Next she grabbed the plane tickets, “Jacksonville?”

“Your mother, you went to visit her for a weekend…” he trailed off, not wanting to say he had gone with her and why he had pressured her into going. Maybe some things would be best left untold? He vowed he would tell her sometime, but not at this very moment.

The charm bracelet was next; she stared at the two charms on it in silence for at least five minutes. He waited patiently, watching as she looked at the diamond first, then the werewolf. “Why is this in here?” She asked, quizzically, “I wasn’t supposed to take it off…” She was unsure of where the information came from but she immediately put the bracelet back onto her thin wrist. She grasped the wooden werewolf, rubbing it lightly with her thumb. “Quileute,” she whispered softly, her eyes moved up to meet Edward’s again.

“An Indian tribe, they live down near the beach, at La Push,” he told her.

“La Push?” She repeated, and he nodded his head.

He was a little sad when she didn’t ask any questions about the other charm, but he wasn’t about to force anything on her that she didn’t ask. Next she picked up he pictures, there weren’t too many of them but there would be enough.

The first picture was strange to see, it was herself when she was…normal, she supposed. And a man, who had a foreign face but slowly it came more into focus. “That’s my father?” She asked.

“Yes, Charlie,” he replied, moving so that he was sitting next to her on the bed, careful not to damage any items she had laying out.

She studied the picture for a while longer, a smile coming over her face as she did so, “He really liked Alice, didn’t he?”

Edward supposed that this was what Alice saw in her vision and he dutifully nodded his head. “She could talk him into letting you do almost anything. She’s very persuasive, he liked her energy and the effect she had on you. You two were very close.”

Bella continued to smile, and before she could move onto the next picture there was another knock at the door. It was Carlisle, and he pushed the door open gently, stepping into the room. “How are you doing, Bella?”

“I’m good, thank you. Edward was helping me recall some things in this…memory box,” she said, an unsure laugh escaping from her lips.

“Good, good,” he said, smiling softly. “I’m going into work now, but I will be home a little later than usual tonight so just call me if either of you need anything. Anything at all,” he told them.

“We will, Carlisle,” Edward promised.

“All right then, I’ll see you two later.”

“Bye,” Bella whispered as he left the room, shutting the door behind him.

The room was silent now, Edward gazed out the window and Bella sat in deep thought. Her brain was running a mile a second, processing thought after thought. There were so many loopholes that appeared and she never quite knew what to do when they appeared. A thought came to her and her eyes snapped to Edward, and then to the second pendant on her bracelet. Things were falling into place with the few facts she just learned but she didn’t want to jump the gun on anything.

That wouldn’t be helpful to anyone because if she was told the truth, she didn’t know how she would take it.

She sat the pictures down, figuring she had enough of that for the moment. “Thank you Edward, for helping me…and I’m sorry to have to put this burden on you and your family. I know this can’t be easy on any of you.”

“No, you don’t need to apologize. If anything, this is my fault. I should have never let this happen.”

“What do you mean?”

Edward truly had been beating himself up about this from the moment he realized something was wrong with her. “Nothing, Alice is coming to check on you so I’d better leave.”

“Edward,” she said, sternly, “tell me what you meant.”

She had no idea how badly he wanted to tell her but he hadn’t yet come to terms with it himself, and he wasn’t done beating himself up over it. Not in the slightest.

Edward stood from the bed and went to the door and it opened to reveal Alice before he got a chance to touch the handle. He slipped passed his sister, who gave him a strange look but then bounded over to the bed. Alice eyed the opened box and grinned. “Your father misses you.”

“Does he?” Bella asked.

“You should call him when you get the chance.”

“I wouldn’t even know what to say,” she admitted.

“I know, but if you get a chance, if you think of anything at all…I will help you get in touch with him,” Alice offered.

“Thank you,” Bella said curtly.

Alice then slid of the bed, holding her hand out to Bella, “Come on, you have to challenge Emmett to an arm wrestling match.”

“I have no chance in winning against him,” she said, shaking her head.

“Yes you do, trust me, and if you win tell him he’s got to give you his capture next time you go hunting,” Alice instructed.

She didn’t know what it was about her that made her comply with anything she wanted. She just had that sort of affect on Bella, and everyone for that matter.

Bella followed Alice down the stairs and into the living room. She was emptier now, quieter. She had to wonder how long she would allow herself to stay here, to impose on their living. She couldn’t overstay her welcome, and part of her wanted to get out, go hunt again. Though she did thirst for something different, something better than mountain lion. There was a burn in her throat just then, but it quickly disappeared. She shook the thoughts from her head, but settled on the thought that she would leave soon. She couldn’t stay for too long.

Okay, I would like to apologize for the pace. I know, it's been going really slow but next chapter things will speed up. All I can say is, some truth comes out. There is a letter and some heartache. Now, you were all lovely with your reviews last chapter. Do the same and I'll get the next chapter up as soon as I can. Though, I had another idea for a new fanfic and it's all human. If you're interested in finding out about it just add me to your author alert list and when it's up, you'll know. or zoom on over to my livejournal where i'll probably post a preview or something. Now without further ado...you know the drill.
