The sky was blue, the air was warm, and the sand was soft between her toes. Shiki tilted her head upward, taking in the warmth of the sun and the scent of the ocean. Her new white sundress fluttered lightly in the breeze.

Almost fell right through

But I held onto you’

Neku sat down next to Shiki under their beach umbrella. Beat and Eri were out in the water, but he was keeping Shiki company on the beach since her bandages kept her from swimming. Their summer break had finally arrived and Kyoko had taken them to the beach for a change of scenery. Shiki rested her head on his shoulder. They both smiled, and Neku looked up into the sky.

Now the moon was in the sky as Neku and Shiki sat on a porch swing together. Beat and Eri had gone down to the beach, and Kyoko was asleep inside, so they were alone. Both of them were content just like that though. Enjoying each other’s perfect company. Sure they knew the road ahead was full of unexpected things, but their entire meeting had been unexpected. They enjoyed the moment, not thinking about the future. After all, it’s a wonderful world.
