Miss You
Summary: PGSM Rei’s all alone at the Crown today. A surprise phone call might change that. “Do you miss me?”
Author’s Note: I HAD to, for all the ReixMinako innuendo they put in the freakin’ series. And they are cute together, you have to admit. XD Nothing too smoochy LOLS, I kept it low key, but it’s there. o; I don’t really know where this would fit in the series, but ah well. You guys can just kinda fit it where you’d like, it’s vague enough. - Enjoy!
Disclaimer: I do not own Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon, Hino Rei, Aino Minako, or any other characters/events/settings in the show. I am merely borrowing them for the sole purpose of entertainment.
She was alone in the parlor today, sitting in her usual red chair; drumming her nails on the cold plastic table and rather enjoying the odd, tingling sensation the impact sent through her fingers. She sighed, eyes roving the colourful room until they rested on the clock.
It was a hot Saturday afternoon in May, and Hino Rei couldn’t for the life of her find something to do. She had finished her chores before the sun was even up, and for once, all her fellow senshi were busy. Makoto had a cooking class, Ami was spending time with her mother, and Usagi was off gallivanting with Mamoru somewhere. Rei snorted. Good luck trying to pry her away from him.
So she had the Crown to herself, and absolutely nothing to do. She rolled her eyes. Swell.
A buzzing in her pocket brought her attention from the door to her phone, whipping it out of her pocket and flipping it open with a flick of her wrist. Her eyes went a little wide, her heart beating just that much faster.
Aino Minako.
But then she opened the text, and her eyes instinctively rolled. The message was simple, but somehow completely Minako.
Call me.
Unfortunately for her, Rei had long ago been conditioned to hanging on the idol’s every word. And that also meant blindly following her orders. So, sighing, she tapped the illuminated green button, and with that familiar small chime, pressed the Teletia-S to her ear.
It barely rang twice when a static click sounded in Rei’s ear, and a familiar voice greeted her.
“Hey.”
Rei’s brows knit slightly. “You sound tired.”
There was a pause on the other line, followed by a breezy laugh. “It never ceases to amaze me that you can read me over the phone.”
“Yeah well, it’s one of my many talents.”
As she heard Minako’s genuine laughter match her own, Rei couldn’t help but wonder when they became so close, so comfortable with each other that they were able to joke around like this.
“Where are you?”
Rei grinned at the small hint of desperation hidden behind the idol’s words.
“Why, miss me?”
There was a loud scoff on the other line, followed by an indignant ‘No!’
“Do you miss me?”
“Yes.”
The response was ripped from Rei before she could control herself, and she could literally feel the other girl’s smug grin through the phone line. She inwardly cursed, and quickly changed the subject, praying Minako would let it go and sighing in relief when she did.
“Ah—where are you? There’s so much noise in the background.”
“Oh, I’m just out and around.”
“Yeah, because that’s not vague.”
Minako giggled. “Actually, I’m right outside the Crown.”
Rei almost fell off her chair. “What? Why?”
“Because I know everyone is busy today, and I also know you’re here and not busy, and I’m not busy, for once, so I thought I’d come and bug you instead!”
Rei’s eyes went wide, looking around frantically for cameras or some sort of video. There’s no other possible way she could know all that!
“Quit looking around, Rei, I’m not spying on you. I’m just well informed.”
“Okay, how did you—what—”
“It’s one of my many talents.”
The scowl on Rei’s face only grew as her forehead connected with the tabletop. Growling, she raised her head.
“Well then are you coming in or aren’t you?”
“Look up.”
Turning her head, Rei instantly found herself locked in the caramel gaze of the pop idol, amused eyes crinkling with a smile just for her. Minako snapped her phone shut, swinging the door shut behind her and beginning her decent down the steps. Rei moved out of her chair to meet her at the bottom.
“Did you just hang up on me?”
The petite girl grinned. “Little bit, yeah.”
And then she did something that surprised them both. The idol launched herself from a good four steps up, wrapping her arms tightly around the startled Fire Senshi’s shoulders. The two tumbled to the ground in a heap, the impact knocking the breath from Rei.
When she could breathe enough to regain her senses, Rei realized that the idol hadn’t let go of her, lying quite contently with her head in the crook of her neck. She swallowed down the blush she felt filling her cheeks.
“Minako—”
“I lied.”
Rei paused. “What?”
“I lied.” The idol repeatedly simply, still unmoving. “I did miss you.”
Rei let out a small smile, a tint of rose she didn’t bother to hide coating her cheeks. Her arms tightened around Minako’s waist.
Well, maybe today wouldn’t be so bad after all.
