“Okay,” I said as I felt nervous.

I didn’t want to disappoint my parents but I also didn’t want to go to Camp Rock, I didn’t like to sing in front of people at all. “Well you might want to pack,” Mom said.

“We leave tomorrow,” Dad added.

“Okay,” I said going to my room.

I packed all my stuff pretty quickly since I’d always been a light packer. I looked up at the ceiling knowing there was no getting out of this. There went my plans for the summer. Of course all my plans were to read, sing, and listen to music in my room and hang out with my mom and dad. I thought back to when I was little and I could always just play with my dad and mom.

Flash back

“Daddy!” I yelled happy to see him again.

“Jessie!” he called just as enthusiastically.

“I missed you!” I said matter of faculty.

“I missed you more,” he said picking me up since I’d only been about three or four.

“Nuh-uh! I missed you dis much!” I said holding my arms out as much as they would go.

“That’s a lot,” he said as I wrapped my arms around him in attempt to give him a supper tight hug. “Wow! You’re getting so strong Jessie!” he said as I clung to him not wanting him to leave again.

“Daddy, can I come on tour wit you, Uncle Jason, and Uncle Nate next time?” I asked hopping for a yes.

“I don’t know… who’d keep Mommy company while we’d be gone?”

“She’d come too!”

“That’d be a really crowded bus Jessie.”

“Pwease!!” I said as I gave him my famous puppy dog pout.

“I’ll talk to mommy about it later,” he promised as I clung even tighter, scarred he’d leave without me again right there and then. “Jessie, it’s okay. The next tour doesn’t even start for another six months!”

“But I don’t want you to weave me again!” I cried.

“Shhhh-shhhh-shhhh,” he soothed as I clung even tighter. “Don’t worry Jessie, I’m not going anywhere any time soon.”

“B-but I missed you and I don’t want you to weave again,” I said as tears started running down my face.

“I promise I’ll talk to mommy about it later, kay?”

“Tay.”

He smiled as I hugged him even tighter while burying my face into his shirt to wipe the tears away. (You know you did that when you were little and you were upset and hugging a grown-up.) “Now let’s stop crying and have some fun.”

End flashback

I sighed at the memory. I had ended up going on the tour with dad and mom had come too. It had been a bit of a disaster the night I had decided I was board with waiting backstage. Let’s just say running out to hug your dad while he’s performing isn’t the best idea.

Flashback

I looked around the backstage area and sighed feeling board. “How much longer Mommy?”

“About five minutes.”

“Otay…” I said as Mommy stood up.

“Now, I want you to stay here while I go to the bathroom okay?”

“Otay.”

She left and as soon as I heard the door to the bathroom close I climbed down from the couch. I ran over and watched Daddy perform in front of a bunch of girls and a few boys with Uncle Jason and Uncle Nate. I suddenly wanted to give Daddy, Uncle Nate, and Uncle Jason hugs. They’d always loved my hugs before so why would this time be any different?

I ran out onto the stage in the middle of a song making a couple heads turn. A couple girls said ‘Aw! She’s so cute!’ but it was lost in the screams. The few boys that saw me said similar things to that but again Daddy, Uncle Jason, and Uncle Nate didn’t notice.

I ran over to Daddy just as Uncle Jason noticed me. He stopped playing just as Daddy tripped from me hugging his legs. There were a few gasps as Daddy looked up and turned to me catching me before I tumbled off the stage. He hugged me tightly from being scarred that I could have been seriously hurt. “Shhhh-shhhh-shhhh,” he soothed as I cried.

“Sorry everyone, we’re going to have to end the show early tonight,” Uncle Nate said as I heard a bunch of disappointed sighs.

Truth was they were at the very last song. Daddy carried me back to the backstage area where Mommy was looking around really worried for me. “Jessie!” she said spotting me in Daddy’s arms.
