AN: This is a ONESHOT. I own nothing. Please don’t sue me!

It all started one sunny morning in the Gryffindor Common Room. The Marauders were all lazing around when they heard some strange news. “Evans has a muggle music thing!”

When the Marauders had got hold of this news, they immediately became drawn to Lily and her strange device, as was everyone else in the vicinity of Miss Lily Evans.

“Ooh! What is it Lily?”

“Wow! Evans! Where’d you get that thingo?”

“Ooh! It plays music!”

“Wow!”

Lily was smiling proudly with her two best friends by her side and singing to the music that was flowing from the device.

Answering everyone’s question of “Ooh! What is it Lily?” Lily said, “It is a muggle turntable that plays a thing called a record” she said quite smugly before continuing on, “I charmed it to play with no speakers.”

The Marauders were at the front of the small circle around Lily and her best friends Emmeline and Lidia. Lidia was passing Lily large circular disc looking things that seemed to have the music on them somehow. “Lils, play this, it is so good!” Lidia said, looking rather excited.

Everyone slowly walked away from the scene as the novelty of a muggle-music-playing device wore off. The Marauders though, stood transfixed by it.

“How the hell does that thing work?” Sirius asked in an awestruck voice.

“It must be magic.” Stated Peter, making all the other seven people surrounding him look at him like he was a complete loser, not that he was or anything. (sarcastic cough)

“Pete, it could only be magic. Otherwise, it is possessed by some evil spirit that is out to get you and then eat your brain.” James said, attempting to make Lily laugh, which he did, though she didn’t show it.

Lily stifled her smile and said, “Listen to this song, it is really good!”

Lidia passed her a large round disc thing, and Lily placed it on the contraption that was the “turntable” and then Lily picked up an arm and placed the top of it on the outermost edge of the disc. After a few seconds, the sound started, the plodding synth beat was ringing through the Common Room, it was not a fast beat, but it was slow and steady with a dark feel, soon there was a more wound up sound to the music and the singing started.

“Ooh! I like this song, it is catchy!” Sirius said, slowly swaying to the chorus (This means nothing to meeeeee ohhhh Viennaaaaaa)

Lidia had tears streaming down her face, she had just broken up with her boyfriend and became very emotional. She was wailing along with Emmeline and Lily and now Sirius.

Sirius soon had one arm around Lidia and another around James and they were all swaying. The others had all done the same with their arms around each other and all swaying and wailing to Midge Ure’s voice. (The song that is being played is “Vienna” by Ultravox)

They started swaying and all began wailing and learning the words of the song, well, except for Peter who still didn’t know what was happening.

Lily was now one arm around James, the other around Remus. James had just realized this and was basically hyperventilating. As the song finished, Lidia moved the arm across the record to a new song, it sounded rather bouncy.

Lidia now was wailing along with this song, Emmeline was too, it seemed to be her favourite song.

“Words, words exchanged last night, you could call it a fight…” Emmeline and Lidia were wailing, Lily was swaying, as were the Marauders. Then the chorus came in. Then all three girls wailed, “If you leave me, can I come tooooooo?!”

James yelled, “Yes, Lily, you can!!”

Lily stopped. “What?”

There was a tense moment of staring between the two of them, no one else had realized, they were all swaying around to the bridge.

Then after the bridge of the song finished, Lily jumped into James’ arms and grinned. James was in shock. The song then finished and everyone was staring and gawking at Lily and James.

Lidia hadn’t really realized and was still wallowing in self-pity and put on another record onto the turntable. The song had a slow piano intro and was rather slow. Everyone stopped and listened closely to the song, “I fall apart when your around.” Everyone started bawling, it was rather depressing.

Then, the chorus came in, “I hope I never, I hope I never, I hope I never have to see you again.”

Then Sirius walked over to Lidia and kissed her, now it was everyone else’s turn to gawk at them.

Then Lily realized, “Oh shit! It’s Monday!!” they had thought it was Sunday.

Everyone looked at her blankly, “What?”

“It’s Monday!!”

“Well I’m not going down.” Said Remus and Emmeline in unison.

Lily relaxed and sank back into James’ arms, listening to the now more cheerful song that had come on the record.

It was amazing how a turntable brought people together.
