MOMOIRO

Chapter 1: The curse

His destiny was written when his clan died, there was no turning back once he was alone. His nightmares had become reality though he didn’t care. He was now a cold person who didn’t care about anyone else but himself. His selfishness led him to the abandoning of his workers from the mansion plus some people who used to live near the Uchiha village. He now was alone, no one around with in miles to hear his cries at night. No one to hear his pleas and screams about how unfair this was for him.

Eventually he didn’t care anymore. He couldn’t do anything when his clan died nor can he do anything now to solve it since he didn’t know where to find the person who finished them to begin with. The only thing he could do now is to close himself from the outside world and always stare at his beautiful life line that was caged inside the crystal container. Now that he carried a curse by mistake, a curse he didn’t had to carry in the first place, he was condemned for darkness for what he still thought was forever.

The sunny day had turned around into a dark stormy evening. The once blue skies were now covered with dark clouds who where just waiting to erupt the lighting they held within in mere seconds. The dark forest he ran through was also a scary factor to his surroundings and he didn’t get a good feeling about anything. Since he left off for Sunagakure he had felt something strange inside him. His insides kept twisting and turning uncomfortably reminding him of something he couldn’t summon up. Though he left his village otherwise, the small yet hospitable Uchiha village.

He was suppose to deliver a message to family members who lived on the allied nation of the sand and bring back news about how they were doing. Sure he was happy about seeing the others again, but thoughts about his family back in Konohagakure kept torturing him, something didn’t felt right when he left.

His brother had bid him farewell when he left, yet the saddened look in his face told Sasuke other things he couldn’t put together at the moment. Itachi was worried about something, yet he didn’t say anything to Sasuke nor he voice it out in another way. He kept quiet as if nothing was wrong, so Sasuke left.

He ran to the gates once he was closer to the village. The skies lightened with that eerie white lighting then a few seconds later thunder followed, roaring vociferously with its echo filling the forest behind him. This was another sign that something was wrong, very wrong. The village streets were empty, no one habited the roads or sidewalks and every door was opened, but the inside of the buildings where dark. Gushes of wind coming out every time he walked past a building which made ghostlike noises that gave him a certain chill. He couldn’t deny it anymore, even if the events were hitting him right in the face.

Where was everyone? What happened? Who did this?

There was not a soul in any house or streets and what worried him the most was to arrive at the mansion. Would be worse than this?

He came upon the wooden gates of the mansion, the scary aura confronting him right on the face, yet he summoned courage. The courage he knew deep inside will need. Not a single soul as he stepped inside, not guards or even the black cats that sat occasionally by the entrance ponds. The angel statues that were ordered in a uniform pattern were now in the floor decapitated. The flower beds his mother loved so much were destroyed to the last rose. And even the ground he stepped in was altered, the normal gravel road was completely destroyed as if it was under construction.

But where was everyone? The damages to the place were visible, yet no one was around to prove to him who did it. He felt his insides shrink when he approached the sliding doors that led to the waiting room of his home, he didn’t want to enter and face reality. The Uchiha took his time as he breathed in and out, trying to calm his nerves though he could no longer ignore the twitching of his hands and tremble of his legs. He was afraid, he was a simple teenager that would face the horrible facts of murder and life itself. He exhaled and slid open the door, still not ready.

The house was darker than outside, the same ghostly noises escaped the place like the other buildings behind him. Shaking his head one last time he walked inside yet still no one came to view except the scary pictures from the walls he could visualize through every flash of lighting. He came to a halt close to kitchen door way and looked down to the floor even though he could see nothing, his feet were wet with sticky fluid he rather wished were not what he thought at the moment is was. The young man inhaled and exhaled one last time before leaning his head low to dodge the white curtain that separated the kitchen from the halls. It was empty, just like the rest of the house he had walked.

A loud thud came from upstairs and he stiffened. He looked back quickly reaching for his kunai from his left leg pocket. Making his way to the stairs he noticed the lights of the family room flicking on and off, the entrance door shut closed and the curtains from the rooms fluttered wildly as he climbed the stairs one by one.

Still, no one around…

His grip on the kunai tightened and he sucked in a breath as he reached the last step. It seemed like out of a horror movie where the victim goes after its attacker instead of running away, he was the mouse running towards the cat. Yet he was unaware, he thought he was the hero. It was more the curiosity of knowing what happened then running away; one thing was clear. He wasn’t alone in the house at the moment aside the fact his clan had mysteriously disappeared.

Another loud thud came from the last door at the very end of the hall, followed by more bumps and a loud crash. A brawl between someone was going on in his house or rather the individual responsible for all this was having a mental crash. He didn’t know, but kept on walking, walking rather slow. This hall was also wet with the sticky fluid he later thought was too gooey to be blood. Too cold to be what he previously thought it was. It smelled disgusting too, like the decomposing waste of a body who’d been grinded or smashed until it was paste.

All too confusing, all seemed like a nightmare he never thought would last for so long. But it wasn’t a nightmare and all was proven when he pushed the door open. Across the room, by the window stood a majestic figure, it was simply its silhouette yet he could see it was tall and rather lean. Another flash of lighting lightened the room and the boy could see the person’s face. The light seemed to had gone to slow, because the Uchiha could see the man’s expression and what he was holding with in his grimly hands.

The person was as pale as a ghost but rather had a more menacing look to his features, his eyes were slanted into those of a snake and his pupils were like dark green slits. His long black hair covered most of his wicked face that held a sinister grin and his clothing was ragged and dirty. His long tongue crept out to lick his thin sickly pale lips, still holding that sinister grin of his.

So you finally came” the person hissed, his eyes glowed yellow while keeping his eerie glare on the boy. “I thought you’d cower and run away”

What happened here!?” the boy screamed at the man in front of him, completely unaware of the dangerous aura around him. “where is everyone!?”

I know I don’t seem like the kind of person to be trusted…” the unknown man carried on ignoring the boy’s questions. “but believe me, I’m not evil…well, not completely”

This clan has been selfish for many years, hungry for power…” he chuckled but continued before being interrupted. “this clan never bothered in amending its ways, I’m starting to wonder if the part of this clan that resides in Sunagakure is doing the same

Anyways, you were the only one to be left out in this minor wipeout but…” he inclined his head towards the ground, though keeping his snake like eyes on the boy. The scary stare gave the Uchiha chills but reframed himself from backing away as the man walked closer to him “if you were to amend things yourself, you might save this clan. It will take you more than a day, weeks…may be it will take you years

Keep in mind of how your clan was, cold, self sufficient and never satisfied. Personally I like those kind of people, but it is never right to be that way… I know twisted of me” he chuckled again when the young man flinched at his closeness, the snake man grinned again and leaned back away from the boy. He raised his hand, holding his five digits in the air, slowly curling a finger, one by one.

Years may pass and you will not see the kind of kindness I’m referring to, eventually it will be so obvious it will be painful when you loose the certain kind of kindness I’m speaking of

Don’t be blinded, I’m speaking out of experience so follow the steps that will be given, if you don’t your task will become harder and eventually you will not know what to do”

He grinned again, his tongue snaking out to wet his thin lips again. The young man flinched again but didn’t move. “I can tell from now that you will be difficult and that you will not follow any steps. Probably you will have to go through obstacles, but that will be to test you”

The young man swallowed hard, ready to ask another question “what happened to everyone?”

Then man’s grin changed to a sinister smirk as he held up the heavy bag he was carrying in his other hand. It was a dirty brown bag, dripping with the gooey substance the boy had been stepping in from the halls.

You wouldn’t believe me if I said I am taking their souls with me, would you?” he snickered when the boy’s eyes widened. “they will be safe with me don’t worry and I’ll let you know something…”

This clan’s mistakes are rather messy, see the substance?” he scooped the bag close to the Uchiha, having him back away instantly. It wasn’t pleasant to have the souls of you’re whole clan being swayed around in a dirty trash bag. “those are sins, I admire this clan but I’m simply following orders…It is up to you, you will be responsible for the future of this poor unfortunate souls, but…”

The boy froze when the man walked closer “lets make things more interesting, this all seems too easy for you. Like handing you fortune in a silver platter”

The boy didn’t have time to react as the man inclined over his form, his summoned fangs sinking in the Uchiha’s pale neck as the snakes venom infiltrated his unprepared body. The Uchiha’s screams matched his pain, his eyes shut tightly as he tried to contain the pain going through his body. With a sick maniac laugh the man pulled away, his tongue darting out to lick his lips from the boy’s blood. Snake eyes looked down to see as the boy changed into this different monster, grayish/bluish skin that seemed to be smooth rather than scaly since the change, his eyes were black with a yellow pupil that trembled as the pain still coursed his body, his midnight spiked hair grew even more though loosing color until it was a pale blue. The bridge of his nose was marked with a black triangle like mark that accentuated his now violet lips. And just when he thought everything was over, more pain from his back erupted as a pair of dreadful wings burst out from his back; they were demonic looking since they were in the shape of hands with claws and rather scaly.

The boy breathed sharply as he tried to regain his breath, the snake man backing away until he reached the window. He looked down one last time at Sasuke with his cold smirk adorning his pale face as he spoke “break the curse, find what true kindness and love does and maybe the curse will go away”

He performed a few seals with his free left hand and a single red rose appeared in front of the boy with in a glass incubator. It sparkled beautifully as it merely floated inside the container, its leaves were wild and the thorn gave the rose a more mythical look.

This is your lifeline, destroy this rose you will destroy yourself, so I’ll recommend you taking care of this with your very soul” the man gloated “when the last petal has fallen and you’re still with in this form, means you didn’t even try to change and you will die…

But if you change before the rose has rid itself from every petal then your clan will be restored and you and your partner will be awarded greatly”

The man bowed his head, still keeping his stare on the boy. “I will keep an eye on you since I was the one assigned this task…you will never see me until the rose is done, but you can know my name for sure” he grinned when the boy hugged himself as more waves of pain coursed through him, he was enjoying himself watching the Uchiha go through this “my name is Orochimaru, so Uchiha Sasuke…”

Please make things interesting for me”

With that the snake man disappeared after being sucked by a dark pool of what appeared to be mud. Sasuke stared at the spot the man had left from, and wished that the snake man would return with the souls of his clan and put everything back in order. But, it wasn’t that gong to be easy. He was gone and for what he said, wouldn’t see him ever again. The Uchiha looked down again at the rose with a glare, he was tied to this place without going anywhere since he was now a hideous beast. And even though, he had to find a way to fix his clan’s mistakes.

But then again…

Who would ever fall in love with a repugnant beast?
