Summary: Susan’s dead. Aslan isn’t himself. And the only one to help him deal is Lucy.

A/N: Aslan out of character

I'm comin’ ‘round to open the blinds

You can’t hide here any longer

My God you need to rinse those puffy eyes

You can’t last here any longer

Lucy Pevensie walked hesitantly towards her sister and her brother-in-law’s room, where she knew the mighty king of Narnia was hiding ever since her older sister’s funeral. Susan Pevensie had, one week ago, died at the hands of the White Witch who had come back unexpectedly, everyone had tried everything in their power to get Susan back but it had been too late. The White Witch had slain her, and no one in Narnia had ever been the same again. The pain for the creatures of Narnia that they had lost one of their queens was a nightmare, for the Pevensie children; Peter, Edmund and Lucy it was horrible. But to the great king and creator of Narnia, Aslan, it was agonizing, heartbreaking and torture.

Aslan and Susan were lovers, the most unstoppable and infamous rulers of Narnia. Their love was infinite and everyone in Narnia knew, but that was how the White Witch had plotted against them. She used Susan as bait to lure the great king, because she knew he would come to save the love of his life, and then she had slain the woman he loved.

Susan and Aslan were mighty rulers but were like any ordinary couple, but the best thing was they had even married. Susan’s two brothers and her sister didn’t exactly approve at first and it took them awhile but eventually they approved strongly of their relationship and that had made them both happy, the wedding had been spectacular, everyone in Narnia had been invited and had attended the wedding. Susan was the most beautiful bride that Lucy had been crying throughout the whole ceremony.

Lucy sighed and opened the door to the couple’s room, she stopped at what she saw; Aslan lay on his and Susan’s bed facing away from the world. Lucy sighed as she went to open the curtains

“Aslan, come on you can’t stay in your room forever. You’ll have to come out sooner or later, I’d go with sooner and now” she told him as she made her way over to her brother-in-law and sat on the edge of the bed.

Lucy shifted and leaned over to look at Aslan, his eyes no longer gold but red and puffy. He was more human than lion than she realized

“My god Aslan, you need to wash your eyes” she told him and then noticed he looked a little thinner “and you need to eat, you haven’t eaten in a week” she added, however, he still didn’t say a word

“Come on, you can’t last here any longer” she said.

Finally Aslan rolled over as she moved back, Lucy got up off the bed and she helped him off the bed. They walked out of the room and headed for the great hall, neither one speaking.

And yes they’ll ask you where have you been

And you’ll have to tell them again and again

When they arrived, people surrounded them

“Aslan, where have you been? We’ve been worried about you” Peter asked him.

Aslan looked at Lucy before looking back at the others

“In my room” he replied

“We have to move on, Susan would want it. Tomorrow will be another day” Edmund said but Aslan didn’t want to hear it

And you probably don’t want to hear tomorrow’s another day

Well I promise you you’ll see the sun again

And you’re asking me why pain’s the only way to happiness

And I promise you you’ll see the sun again

As everyone chattered, Aslan turned to Lucy

“Why is pain the only way to happiness?” he asked her, Lucy was surprised, she knew Aslan was the wise one and now he was seeking answers

“Well, sometimes in life you have to suffer through torment and pain to finally find happiness” she replied “we all go through it” she added.

Aslan sighed and continued to watch everyone, Lucy decided that some fresh air would do Aslan some good

Come on take my hand

We’re going for a walk, I know you can

You can wear anything as long as it’s not black

Please don’t mourn forever

She’s not coming back

“We’re going for a walk” she said standing up.

Aslan looked at her and got up, Lucy held onto his mane as they left Cair Paravel. They walked along the beach in silence, Lucy knew Susan meant the world to Aslan and now she was gone. But she had never seen the high and mighty lion so distraught, she wondered if there was something he was hiding. She decided now was not the time but tried to talk some sense into him

“Aslan, I know Susan meant the world to you and you loved and still love her dearly but you can’t stay holed up in yours and her room. Susan would want you to be with us, your family and friends. She wouldn’t want you mourning her forever, I mean you can but laugh again for her. You have to remember, she‘s not coming back no matter how much we wish it” Lucy told him

“I know, she will always remain worth fighting for” Aslan said “and Narnia” he added

Do you remember telling me you found the sweetest thing of all

You said one day all this was worth dying for

So be thankful you knew her at all

But it’s no more

“Listen, just be thankful you knew her at all even though it’ll be no more” Lucy told him.

Aslan looked at Lucy and she saw something in his eyes, he was hiding something and she had a feeling she wasn’t going to like it. Aslan didn’t say anything as they stopped at some rocks and sat down, they stared out at the ocean but the suspension was killing her (sorry no pun intended). Lucy really needed to know what big secret Susan and Aslan had hid from everyone, it must have been something either really bad or really good.

Aslan sighed and Lucy looked at him, he looked at her

“Susan was……Susan was with child” he finally told her.

Lucy gasped, the secret was out. She couldn’t believe it, her own sister was pregnant and that she, Edmund and Peter would’ve gotten either a niece or nephew. But the evil White Witch had not slain one but two lives, Lucy wrapped her arms around Aslan’s neck

“I’m so sorry” she said tears filling her own eyes

“Thank you, Lucy Pevensie” Aslan said as they stared out at the ocean.

And you probably don’t want to hear tomorrow’s another day

Well I promise you you’ll see the sun again

And you're asking me why pain’s the only way to happiness

And I promise you you'll see the sun again

And you probably don’t want to hear tomorrow’s another day

Well I promise you you’ll see the sun again

And you're asking me why pain’s the only way to happiness

And I promise you you'll see the sun again

And I promise you you’ll see the sun again

And I promise you you’ll see the sun again

And I promise you you’ll see the sun again

I promise you you’ll see the sun again

See the sun again, again, again, again, again, again, again, again
