Slytherin’s, Slytherin’s are tricky people to figure out not like Gryffindor’s or Hufflepuff’s. Slytherin’s pride hem selves on the cunning and sly abilities to get they them selves out of trouble.
Yes, most Slytherin’s are purebloods who hate muggle born but I also think that the reason why most joined Voldemort isn’t only on that. I think that the families who did join the Dark Lord did it out of preservation because that’s what I would have done (and I like to think of myself as a true Slytherin not one of those floozies Dark Magic wannabes). Preservation for themselves, their families, the past and presents and futures.
They joined because did anyone really think that Harry-magic-wonder-boy-Potter could have defeated the Dark Lord. I thought he maybe would in twenty years after Hogwarts. By then, though, most of the WW and some of the MW would have been taken over by then (underground that is if the Dark Lord was still in hiding). Sure dreamers can dream and hope (Most Giff’s and Huffle and some Raven) but logic should rule the mind if one wants to live to see another day.
This is why I like the Malfoy’s so much because I can say that “yes, I do understand their motives in the books.” Sure the Malfoy’s may seem like they hate muggles and half-blood’s (which they do) but I also think that Mr. and Mrs. Malfoy had other motives that Draco couldn’t see until the end. None of the children could really see (though I suspect some Ravenclaw’s of knowing) what the parents where really up to until the end. I know I couldn’t until I really thought about it.
I mean, sure, Slytherin’s aren’t afraid to stab each other in the back at any chance they get but I also think that they are doing it for the things and people they truly love (which is few and far between). Take Mrs. Malfoy for example; by the end of the book she saw that the Dark Lord was going to lose and so she took matters into her own hands. I’d say threat if Mrs. Malfoy didn’t do what she did Voldemort would have still fallen. Mind you it might have been a few years later but since all the Horcuxes are gone (and Harry died for a second time in his life) he could have died at the hands of another being. Mrs. Malfoy had predicted this some way (though she could have also thought that Harry was immortal) and used it to her advantage to save her family.
Now I’m not saying that all Slytherin’s have logic behind why they joined Voldemort (Bella Crazy bitch who was not so secretly in love with snake face) but I’m sure that a good percent had the self, family, past-present-future preservation in mind when they joined the Dark Lord.
On a finale note I would like to add that Slytherin’s are not ass holes, they speak the truth (in a assholish sort of way).
