Hey all, it’s Ginny again! Haha! Anyway, I started this a few days after I finished KH2 ‘cause I didn’t really feel like I had the right to make a fanfic about something I don’t even know the ending to. So, here is my “smile Like You Mean it” diversion, Prayer!
Okay I wrote this a LONG time ago. Last summer I believe. But I finally decided to publish it. Not sure if I’ll continue it. But I might.

Recollection
Roxas opened his eyes to see a long, green field. There were no signs of any color but green in it, or any sign of life for that matter. The road around him was simple dirt. The grass seemed to wave in an unseen wind, and was growing greatly out of hand. There seemed to be a presence hanging in the air, whispering words to him that he could not comprehend. He looked around himself, hoping to see something familiar; though he was sure he had not been there before. All around him was the road, and he stood in the middle of the cross. But… which way should I go…? He wondered, his eyes darting from left to right. And… which way did I come?
“You are not the first to ask such a question, Sora. Or could you be—Roxas?” whispered a weak voice that seemed to ring in his ears, however quiet it was. Familiar, but it seemed like such a long time ago.
“I’m not a part of Sora anymore. We’re different people again!” Roxas said into the stars, not knowing which way to face. It was true, too. Two days ago, he had woken up. Not Sora. Him. Sora and Roxas had thought of an explanation for hours until Sora had to go to school. Roxas had almost wanted to laugh at the reminder of life outside of his doze as Sora’s whole. Until Sora got back, Roxas stayed in his room all day, still thinking. But nothing came. There was no reason. But he was there.
“Ah, but are you not still a nobody? Can you feel a heart beating in your chest? Do you even know how a heart feels?” The voice whispered, more exact this time. It definitely wasn’t coming from space now. Roxas whirled around to see a man in a black cloak looking his way. Though his face being shrouded, he could’ve been looking anywhere.
“But- you’re-wha…?” Roxas said, not knowing exactly what to say. Again, something was familiar but it seemed like it was something he knew a long time ago.
“My, my, my. I suppose you don’t remember me then, Roxas? Oh, and by the way—I recommend you go,” the man said, pointing his thumb behind him. “that way.” And with that, he whirled away. Roxas stared down the once again lonely road, wondering whether to listen to the person or not. Hmmm… well, can’t just stand here. Besides, what could happen? And that is what every downfall starts with. He started to walk down briskly the way the man had been. But, he had not taken more than a few steps before he felt everything sink away. His consciousness of where and who he was, and all other knowing of life. He felt like he was falling, but everything around him was so dark, he couldn’t tell whether he was moving, or even right side up. It was like his mind became a slate for a moment, until everything shot back. He was still in the darkness, but he could remember things. He thought he was dreaming, but it all felt so tangible. He felt dizzy from the feeling of being upside down and wanted to clutch his head in exasperation, but he soon found that he could not lift his arms. Then, faceless voices came echoing through the void, flickering in and out of his hearing.
“One who knows nothing can understand nothing.”
“Sora!”
“Do you guys think we’ll always be together like this?”
“Open the door, lead me into everlasting darkness!”
“It’s my lucky charm. Be sure to bring it back to me!”
“Don’t worry. I will.”
“Promise?”
“Promise!”
“Don’t ever forget. Wherever you go, I’m always with you.”
“We may never meet again, but we’ll never forget each other.”
“I’m always with you too! I’ll come back to you. I promise!”
“I can’t…”
“One sky, one destiny.”
“And then, we can go see Santa!”
“W-we’re back.”
“You’re home.”
Some of the voices were familiar. Some were strangers. He could hear Sora, and Kairi. But he didn’t understand why he was still linked to things Sora experienced. He finally felt the sickening feeling of falling end as his feet touched something reasonably solid. He looked around, but all he could see was darkness. Then, he heard a piercing sound, and though someone was screaming. But then, he saw a door opening, and light pouring out of it. There was a musical humming coming from the inside, as though a chorus were only vocalizing inside. The door to light… or Kingdom Hearts? Or-- maybe something else… He wondered, taking cautious steps toward the sound and light. My dreams are getting out of hand. He looked through the door to see something familiar.
“Twilight Town?” Roxas said under his breath. “Are these… mine?” he whispered in disbelief, with a feeling of worry in the back of his mind. He continued to watch, unsure of whether to go in or not. Taking the cloaked mans advice had led to a blistering headache. Should he run to the beckoning of a shining door? Go ahead. Nowhere else to go. He told himself, taking well thought steps inside. Immediately he was surrounded by voices again, but it seemed that they were all the same voice. The voice sounded heavenly and soft, and Roxas felt as if he could listen to the melodious sound talk for hours. He heard his name several times, but could not bring himself to pay attention to the words themselves.
“Hello, Roxas.”
“I always thought nobodies were doomed to fade back into darkness…”
“You… were never supposed to exist, Roxas.”
“Nobodies like us are only half a person. You won’t disappear! You’ll be whole!”
“I did, didn’t I?”
“So, we can be together again!
“Roxas!”
“We will meet again.”
The light intensified until Roxas could see that road again. The same one that gave him the pounding headache. But now, there was a person there. A girl, with light blonde hair and a white dress. Her skin was a milky white that would look sickly on other people, but seemed so natural for her. It made her seem for tranquil. Her blue sandals seemed to glint in the moonlight, and her left hand held her right arm behind her back in a strange idleness. Her right hand clenched and unclenched as if she were deep in thought. I can’t… remember. Who is she? Roxas asked himself hesitantly, as if he were afraid the answer would come falling out of the sky. He took a step towards her and felt as if his step rang out in the silence. He cringed as a feeling of static ran through his body. She turned slowly, as if woken from a dream, and focused her eyes on him. She turned around the rest of the way, smiling broadly. She moved slowly as she turned, as if to make sure she didn’t move a single pebble from its rightful place in the road.
“Roxas…” she said, her voice echoing through the night in a sing-song tone as if she were trying to wake him up. Roxas tried to see her face. But the pain in his head was making the world blurred. The next thing he knew, he was falling into darkness again. Or, was it light? He tried to get one look at the girl. He suddenly could see clearly. His eyes whipped around until they focused on her. She was smiling broadly at him, but the second he saw her, light from an unseen source cause him to recoil back. He squeezed his eyes shut and let himself fall without struggling. All the while, his own voice whispered in his head continuously,
“Naminé… Naminé… Naminé…”
