Author Note - This ties in with some of my previous Zelda fanfics. Hopefully I've written it so anyone can pick it up and read it. But if you read my previous fics, the OCs are explained a little more. Anyway, another warning is that I use characters/plots from the Zelda mangas rather than the game so at times it may seem a little out of place when put into the gaming context. Hope you enjoy it.
Eons ago Termina was ravaged and ruled by a demon called Bellum. From the darkness came hope as the Giants, the guardians of Termina chose their champions of each direction of the compass. The four heroes came forth and banded together, Dakar the Deku Prince, Damino the Goron Warrior, Mikaw the Zora Illusionist and finally Majora the Morpha Sorceress.
Blessed with the powers of Odolwa, Goht, Gyorg and Twinmould, the four heroes were able to destroy Bellum’s corporeal form. His soul was banished to the space between dimensions for all eternity. However, he could risk breaking free if anything ever happened to the Giants of Termina.
After the banishment of Bellum the townsfolk of Clock Town flocked to Ikana to praise Majora. A foolish announcement by the Morpha king brought her identity to light as one of Termina’s saviours. Luckily the other heroes were able to keep their identities hidden and continue with their normal lives. Soon enough the humans started living in the Morpha kingdom.
The king was furious about the sudden, dramatic population increase. He asked Majora to use her powers to get rid of the humans. She refused to do such a thing. The king used the cursed mask to split Majora into two different versions of herself. One that was childish and impulsive. The other one was mature and wise.
The childish Majora was tempted and used by the king, she utilised her powers to make the Morpha guardian Twinmould obey her. She commanded Twinmould to get rid of the humans. The legendary beast started destroying the kingdom and humans. The king was pleased with the humans fleeing until he realised Twinmould was destroying the kingdom and the Morphas. The childish Majora was toying with innocent lives, life and death meant nothing to her. All she desired was games and enjoyment.
He ordered the childish Majora to stop Twinmould. But she didn’t follow his command. The king ordered two of his finest guards to kill her but she turned them into undead skeletons. She then unleashed a powerful curse, transforming the king and all the people in the castle into zombies, ghosts and evil, twisted creatures.
When all hope was lost. The other half of Majora came forth with her ocarina and the ancient mask from the Stone Towers. She played an eerie melody that she had composed herself with her ocarina. The childish Majora was sealed into the already cursed mask.
The mature Majora then banished Twinmould and all of the evil caused by the childish Majora into the Stone Towers and confined it to the ruins of Ikana Valley. She sealed the Stone Towers and the mask in darkness. The eastern side of Termina became a barren wasteland of the dead. Knowing she would never live a normal life again. Majora went to the deepest chambers of the Stone Towers and turned her body to stone..
Legend has said that the Morphas can be revived to their original standard. Only if Twinmould and the childish Majora are truly destroyed then they are free of the curse that clings to their very souls.
In the Eastern Valley of Termina; in the sacred Stone Towers, an ancient elder looked over a wall covered with events of the past and future carved upon it. The wall showed every event possible for any world. Despite the fact he had been alive since ancient times, he looked so young. He was a handsome man with charcoal hair. He only had one blood red eye, his other was merely a black pit. His skin was so pale, like he hadn’t seen the sun in so long. His body swirled with the red and blue tattoos and tribal markings of an Arch Elder. His robes adorned with images of their guardian, Twinmould and the cursed mask known commonly as Majora’s Mask.
He said to himself as he ran his fingers across the carvings. A light radiated from them as he understood the ancient voices of the stone. The Arch Elder bowed his head “The evil is coming, so we must prepare for it. Majora’s wrath has gone too far... Bellum will awaken soon. But not in our world”
Three figures entered the chamber of the elder. Sensing their presence he stopped looking at the wall of carvings and turned to them.
“You wanted us Master Ilucifer?” questioned one of the figures. It was a girl wearing a jester’s hat. She was taller than her comrades and only a teenager.
Ilucifer nodded solemnly “Yes, I have a task for you, my apprentices, to complete”
“What is it?”
“I want you to get Princess Zelda of Hyrule and bring her here. You are allowed to use force if necessary. You must get the Princess!”
“What is Hyrule?”
“Hyrule is a far away land that is in a completely different dimension to us. It is a land that has the golden power, the Triforce within it”
The other girl of the trio, a Deku nut girl who was quite tall for her species, commented “The Triforce. I’ve heard of such an item. Are they the three golden triangles from legend?”
“Yes and now that Bellum is rising to power. He will come and we must prepare for his arrival. You must get Princess Zelda out of Hyrule and back here”
“Huh? Why? What’s so special about this princess?” said the only boy of the trio, a Skull Kid. He was about the same height as the Deku nut girl, but still a head shorter than the jester girl.
“She holds the power to open the sacred realm”
“But I thought you just needed the sacred stones and the Ocarina of Time to open the sacred realm”
“In the future she will become the seventh sage and bearer of the Triforce of Wisdom”
“Wow! That’s impressive”
“You see why she’s so important. If Bellum was to possess her then Hyrule would never be able to fight back against him”
The jester girl scratched her head remembering the legend “Why would Bellum awaken in Hyrule? I thought he was a demon of Termina”
“When Majora, Mikaw, Damino and Dakar sealed Bellum. They banished him from our world. This keeps us safe from his cursed powers. But he can still send his elemental demons to attack us. When Majora’s Mask imprisoned the Giants, the seal of Bellum was broken”
The Skull Kid nervously looked at his feet. The Deku nut girl put an arm on his shoulder and said “It wasn’t your fault…”
The elder continued “As Bellum was banished from our world, he can only be revived outside Termina. Bellum was sealed by the gods of our world, so it’s evident he can only be stopped by the gods of other worlds. Princess Zelda is a direct link to Din, Nayru, and Farore the Hylian Goddesses. If she fell into the wrong hands then we’d be doomed”
The trio exchanged glances. After a brief pause they cheered “We’ll go forth and get the princess!”
“Take these three masks. May they serve you well” said the elder as he handed each figure a specific mask “The time has come for you to answer your destiny. This was the moment we trained you for”
“This is all well and good” sighed the jester girl “But how are we to get to Hyrule? It’s a different world to Termina”
Ilucifer smiled as he revealed the path they must take “This is a secret passed on by those who made it. Beneath the Clock Tower in the centre of this world is a rip in the fabric of life. It is a portal between here and our parallel world, Hyrule. Go there and await its opening. I will do the rest”
“At once Master Ilucifer” bowed the trio. They quickly left to prepare for the long journey ahead.
