Prologue
Moonlight shone brightly through the open window, giving the darkened room a heavenly glow. It was quiet, save the subtle rustle of the light curtains as the
gentle late night breeze caressed them.
From somewhere in the small house a chime tolled midnight, causing the only occupant of the room to stir. A small yawn escaped pale pinklips, as golden eyes
flickered open. “A dream?” The voice was soft, belonging to a boy no older than seven. A small frown found its way to the boy’s almost angelic face.
It had seemed so real. Slowly sitting up, he glanced around the room. It was empty. “Of course there wouldn’t be anyone here.” He whispered, laying his head back on
the pillow. It was only when he was on the verge of sleep that the sound caught his attention. A slow melody floating in through the window. The same one, he realized, that had been in his dream.
Bolting up, he rushed over to the window, staring out into the night. Excitement and fear flooded him as he noticed the silhouette of a person. A person with wings. Was he
dreaming? Hallucinating? Or maybe he was seeing an angel? The boy gasped, startled out of his thoughts by a light chuckle sounding from beside him. Turning his head, he
found himself staring at-nothing. “W-What?” Another chuckle sounded, this time coming from the left of his bedroom. Turning, almost fearful of what he might see, he glanced
at the corner of his room. It took all he had not to shout. Sitting on the edge of his bed was a man. He gaped at the neat raven black hair and almost hypnotizing charcoal
eyes. “W-Who are you?” He squeaked. “How did you get in here?” The man smirked, unfurling his large black wings. “ My name is Roy, daemon prince of the underworld.” He
answered. “ As for how I got in here, do you think it was that hard for a demon of my power, Edward?” Golden eyes widened in shock. “You know my name?” The man, Roy,
chuckled. “Of course, there isn’t a daemon out there who doesn’t know your name.” Edward was quiet. Roy watched the different emotions cross the young boy’s face. Fear,
confusion, interest, and then fear again. “I don’t understand.” He said finally. “Why am I known by demons?” Roy shook his head. “ That I can’t answer.” Edward glared at
the older male. “Can’t or won’t?” He growled. Roy laughed. “Very perceptive.” Ed pouted. “I have a right to know.” He whined. Smiling Roy stepped over to the golden haired
boy. “Soon you will understand, but not now.” He whispered. Staring into the same golden eyes he had never thought that he would see again, he willed the boy to sleep.
When Edward’s body went limp in his arms, Roy carried the boy to the bed. “ Soon you will understand, but for now just know that you are mine.” Smiling down at the
sleeping seven year old, Roy turned, and with a blaze of black flames, was gone.
A/N: Daemons, by definition, can be demons or beings from a god and human. In this story there will be many different types of daemons. First- demons (like Roy), Second- guardian spirits, and Third- the offspring of a god and a human.
