My Close Encounter
Kat Hamilton

Disclaimer: I own no one, this is fiction.

Warning: Bizarreness awaits you my friend.

Personal Favor: Bitch at me if this sucks or if I get some continuity wrong. I'll deserve it. I've only seen the complete 1st and 5th seasons and then a lot of random episodes on Comedy Central, WGN and MY64.

Timeline: I'd place this somewhere between "My Cake" and "My Lunch". Probably a lot closer to "My Lunch" and "My Fallen Idol".

"Talking" / "Thinking"/ Daydreams

Perry had intended to fall into her favorite bottle of Scotch for the next couple of days. The only problem was that she kept falling back out of it. Her lowered alcohol tolerance had caused her to become drunker faster. Now she sat on the couch eyes half lidded watching Sports Center, empty glass in one shaky hand and a remote in the other. Perry felt her head start to lower and she immediately snapped it up. "Not going to pass out." She knew that if she did she'd have that nightmare again. It had left her waking up sweating, gasping, heart pounding in her chest. Her eyes went heavy and her chin was practically on her chest. "No. Gotta stay awake..."

Perry stood alone, drunk in a dark alleyway not far from the bar she frequented. She could hear scuffling but didn't think anything of it. It was probably just a cat or a dog anyway.

"Dr. Cox?" Newbie's voice penetrated the darkness.

Perry slipped and fell landing on the filthy ground. Then she heard the laughter. "N'bie?"

A group of five men slid out of the pitch black night and into the light of an exit sign. They were big, greasy, and more than likely wanted in several states. The leader lit a cigarette and chuckled. "Looks like we got a little lady here who doesn't know how to handle her liquor boys."

One of the other men, a bald one stepped forward. "Hey sweetheart let me help you up."

"Don't touch me." Perry managed to swing her leg around and give him a swift kick to the kneecap.

"Mamacita's a fighter." Another one said. "I think I like her holmes. She got spunk."

And just like that all five of them rushed Perry. She'd managed to get in a few good kicks or punches but she was simply out numbered. A lucky kick to the crotch of the bald one got her a few feet away from the exit of the alley. "I'm gonna make it."

Two of the other men tackled her to the ground knocking the breath out of her. "Who wants her first?"

"Dr. Cox?"

"NEWBIE!" Perry clawed at the wet trash covered ground trying to get out from underneath the two attackers.

"Dr. Cox?"

"JD... Help..."

"Dr. Cox?" The sound of knocking at her door woke her up. "Dr. Cox?"

"M'comin'! Hold on!" Perry took a few seconds to catch her breath and settle down before she walked over to the door and opened it. "WHAT?"

Dr. Molly Clock stood in the doorway. "I'm sorry was I interrupting something?"

"No and why are you here?"

Molly let herself into the apartment and sat a book down amidst the empty bottles and glasses. "I brought you a journal."

"A JOURNAL?" Perry snorted slamming the door. "I guess you want to record all of my thoughts about that cute boy I want to take to-" Splitting headache interrupted the rant. "Damn it!" It suddenly felt like someone had taken two hammers to her temples.

Molly rushed to her side. "Are you okay?"

"Fine... Fine... Just a hangover."

"I figured something was wrong because you were flushed and sweaty when I came in. Is it something you want to talk about?"

"What do you think?" Perry snarled.

Molly nodded. "Right. You don't like to talk about what bothers you."

"Thank you."

"It was a nightmare wasn't it?"

She just responded with an animalistic grunt.

"Someone who's had a traumatic experience can dream about it for even years afterwards."

Perry stalked into the bathroom to find some aspirin. "It wasn't about the abduction."

"Then what was it about?" When she popped the painkiller and downed the water all while glaring at her she sighed. "Dr. Cox, I'm your psychiatrist you should feel secure about telling me things like this." She smiled softly and patted her on the back. "Now what was it about?"

Perry sighed in defeat knowing nothing she said or did was going to deter the great Molly Clock. "Fine. I had a nightmare where I got jumped. In fact I've had it every time I've fallen asleep since the incident happened."

"You're obviously having some insecurities-"

"You think?"

Molly led her over to the couch and made her sit down. "So what happened in the nightmare?"

"I told you I got jumped by a gang of guys."

"Did you recognize any of them?"

"No."

"Was there anyone else in the dream you recognized?"

Perry almost said that she had heard JD in her dream but just shook her head. "No." She continued answering Dr. Clock's questions with simple yes or no answers. "Listen... "Doctor" Clock. I have to sober up by tomorrow morning so if you could just leave and shut the door behind you that'd be great."

"I'm only in town for a few more days so if you want to schedule another appointment you could do it right now."

"I don't want another appointment!" Perry bolted up from the couch. "I don't want to talk about my feelings. And I sure as hell DO NAWT want to write anything down in the diary you brought me. So why don't you leave and stop trying to vomit flowers and sunshine all over me?"

"I'll be back in town in about two months. I'll check up on you then okay?" Molly hadn't even been phased by her outburst. She slowly got up from the couch and gave Perry a hug which she squirmed out of. She picked up her things and opened the door. "You don't have to share the journal with me. Just right anything down in it if you feel like. Bye!" She did a little wave and shut the door behind her.

Perry threw her empty glass at the door and watched it shatter.

It was one of those dreams where JD knew he was dreaming. He knew he was dreaming because this was one of his reoccurring dreams. The one where he would slay the evil dragon and rescue the beautiful princess from the tower.

"Sir Jonathon! Save me please!"

JD smiled and put on his helmet. He loved this dream the most because of several reasons. One being he was ripped and agile, something he was definitely not in real life or in any of his other dreams. Two because he got the girl in the end. And three he knew once he took his helmet off his hair would still be perfectly in place.

"I'm coming Princess hold on!" He held up his mighty sword and stood his ground as a large black dragon swooped down from the sky breathing fire. It landed hard shaking the ground and spread it's wings letting out a mighty roar. "I will slay thee dragon!" JD ran at the beast screaming oh so manly as he jumped up in the air and raised his blade. It came down on the back of the dragons neck and off the head came. The body slumped to the ground and JD climbed on top of it and raised his sword in the air. "I am victorious!" He then plunged his sword into the decapitated corpse of the dragon. "Now to collect to my beautiful princess."

JD took off his helmet and stared at himself in the reflection of the armor. Not a hair out of place. He tucked the helmet under his arm and ran up the long flight of steps to the top of the tower. "Princess I am here for you!" He kicked the door down and looked at the woman sitting at the vanity brushing her long red hair.

This confused JD. Usually the princess was the girl he'd been dating or pining over at the time. The princess had been everyone from Elliot to Gift Shop Girl. Even a couple of times it had been Carla, once it had been Jordan which that one ended with JD getting his head bitten off... But the thing about the other girls was that... None of them were red heads.

Then he thought it was the hot naked red head from his other dream. The one with the unicorn. Now his dreams were starting to crossover like some bad fanfic. Great. He'd been so lost in thoughts that he'd forgot momentarily about the princess needing to be rescued.

"Newbie are you going to rescue me or what?"

JD froze and looked at the woman at the vanity. It was Dr. Cox. "Uh... ummmm..."

"You know Maggie Mae the guards are going to notice that you killed their pet dragon. So why don't you tighten your corset and get me the hell out of here?"

"Right." JD tossed his helmet aside and grabbed Perry's hand. "Milady I-"

Perry whistled almost hurting his ears. "Uh bup bup- No speech, just go."

"You can't even be nice in my dreams?" JD managed to keep himself from pouting and led her down the steps of the tower. Halfway down they met up with six guards, swords drawn.

"Where's your sword Nancy?"

JD growled and kicked one of the guards in the chest causing him to tilt backwards slightly. Due to the bulky armor the guard had trouble regaining his footing. He grabbed his sword and gave the guard one final kick before he fell down the steps. "Here's my sword!" A sword fight commenced as the other five rushed JD. He took care of them fairly easy and he wiped sweat off of his brow when he was done. "That was fun."

Perry was leaning up against the wall looking disinterested. "Yawn."

JD gritted his teeth and grabbed her hand before breaking into a run down the steps. "Let's get you rescued before I chop YOUR head off."

"Oh this is the dream where you actually have a set of testicles?"

He then picked her and slung her over his shoulder breaking into a run. "You're ruining my dream!"

"Well then MILADY why don't you wake up?"

JD's eyes snapped open with a gasp. He glanced over at his alarm clock and saw that there was no need for him to get up yet. Yet every time he tried to close his eyes and go back to sleep-

"Oh this is the dream where you actually have a set of testicles?"

He let out a growl and punched the pillow he had been cuddling with. "Stupid Dr. Cox."

"JD are you up?" Elliot knocked on the door before opening it.

"Yeah."

She peaked her head in looking quizzically at him. "Are you not feeling well or are you having the dream about the red head on the unicorn again?"

"Neither. I just had another frustrating dream."

"You didn't have another dream about-"

"Can I go back to sleep?" JD pouted as he put his pillow over his head.

Elliot jumped on the bed and snatched the pillow away from him. "No. You've been having dreams about Dr. Cox for the past three nights."

"I've dreamt about him before."

"Every night for three nights in a row?"

"Damn it! She's not going to let this go. I have to distract her some how." JD wiped the sleep out of his eyes and sat up facing Elliot. "No not three nights in a row." His head tilted as he thought up a way to get her to leave.

Keith appears in the doorway with a bag of apples. "Señora?" Elliot turns to look at Keith and the bag of apples and then back at JD who now has a sombrero and a fake mustache on.

"He steal de apples. He very bad man Señora!"

Elliot looks back at Keith with an evil grin on her face. "Manuel! How dare you steal those apples!" She jumps off the bed and slaps him before kissing him. Keith gives JD a thumbs up.

"JD!"

He blinked and muttered, "I wouldn't dare ask him for the help."

Elliot sighed and stood up from the bed. "JD... Are you attracted to Dr. Cox?"

"Absolutely not!"

She grinned and started bobbing her head. "Oh really? Because according to Carla you were daydreaming about her."

"Was not."

"When she asked you if anything was wrong you responded with, 'no arousal here'."

"I was thinking about Nurse Tisdale!"

"Sure you were. I mean as long as didn't have the Princess dream. You didn't have the princess dream did you?"

"I tell her way too much." JD shook his head. "No. And besides why would that mean anything? Carla's been the princess before."

Elliot laughed. "So you did."

"Don't try to convince me I have a crush on Dr. Cox. Turk did something like this when we were in college. He tried to convince me I had a crush on this one professor and after a while I started to believe him."

"That means you probably did have a crush on her."

"Professor Martin was a 58-year-old chain smoker with an eye patch and a moustache."

Elliot cringed. "Eeewww... Sorry."

"Although thanks to Turk I managed to pass English Lit. You'd be surprised what some innocent flirting can do for your grades." JD got up from the bed. "I might as well get up."

"I'm sorry JD. You know what, you're right. You wouldn't have a crush on Dr. Cox."

"I don't need to! He's already got enough to tease me about, having a crush on him would just make things worse."

AN: Sorry about taking so long and the chapter being so short and not really that important. I ran into a writer's block. It sucked.

Trivia: The theme for the girls names in this story are "Beatles Related". It's song titles and wives names. I may broaden it to using girls names from other songs. My patients names are the real last names of some wrestlers.
