“Why can’t we keep traveling?” Ash complained. “It’s not even dark yet.” Brock shook his head.
“Because, Ash,” Brock replied. “We need to get our rest if we are going to travel farther tomorrow. We didn’t travel as far as I wanted to today because we were sidetracked with your battle.”
“I can’t help it!” Ash complained. “I can’t resist a good battle.” Dawn and Zoey, who were standing a bit behind Ash and Brock, began to laugh.
“There is a Pokémon Center up ahead,” Brock informed them.
“I can see that, Mr. Obvious,” Ash said and rolled his eyes.
“We’re staying there for the night,” Brock finished. Ash groaned, and trudged into the center after Brock.
“I still don’t see the point in this,” Ash continued to complain as Brock took the keys to their room. Dawn and Zoey had the room across the hall, and Ash put down his pack on one of the beds.
“Alright, get to sleep, when we wake up, we’ll have breakfast, then get going,” Brock informed him. Ash yawned and fell asleep quickly.

Ash stretched his arms and yawned. After a refreshing sleep, he felt ready to start the day. Pikachu, who had fallen asleep in the pack the night before, jumped out and onto Ash’s shoulder. Ash picked up his pack to find that Brock had left for breakfast already. Ash walked out of the room and into the lobby of the Center, where he saw Zoey and Dawn eating breakfast. He walked over to them and sat down.
“Have either of you seen Brock?” Ash asked. “I haven’t seen him this morning.”
“Pikachu!” Pikachu said, pointing towards the counter. Brock was there, doing what else, flirting with Nurse Joy. I rolled my eyes and nudged Pikachu.
“Let’s give him a chance, see what happens,” I suggested. Pikachu nodded, and watched Brock intently. I looked over, and saw Nurse Joy blushing at whatever Brock was saying. Zoey began to laugh, and I looked over at the two girls. Dawn was giggling, but Zoey was laughing harder.
“Lup?” Dawn’s Piplup asked, popping out of its PokéBall, a habit it had picked up.
“Sorry,” Zoey said, regaining her sanity. “Dawn just told me something very funny.”
“I don’t think I want to know,” I continued watching Brock’s attempts.
“Pi, Pikachu. Pikachuuu…” Pikachu stated, pulling at my sleeve. I nodded and walked over to Brock.
“Oh, Brock, you’re so sweet!” Nurse Joy said, blushing. Brock smiled, and I tapped him on the shoulder.
“Hey Ash, finally woke up, didn’t you?” Brock said jokingly. I rolled my eyes.
“Very funny Brock. Ha ha,” I said.
“Oh, I’m sorry,” Nurse Joy said unexpectedly. “I was so busy talking with Brock that I forgot about these.” She pulled out four letters, and handed them to me and Brock. The letters were all addressed to different people: one was for Brock, another was for me, and the last two were for Dawn and Zoey.
“Thanks,” I replied to Nurse Joy, hastily ripping open my letter and reading it as I went to give Dawn and Zoey theirs.
“To Ash Ketchum,
