A/N: Ok I was tagged by December'sRose (some time ago actually..) and finally finished it. It was kind of hard...in a fun way though. It's the whole Shuffle Challenge. You know... If you get tagged, you have to write a short fic about ten random songs. Put your IPOD or library on shuffle, and get ready to write to whatever song comes up. Sounds pretty easy, but here's the thing; you only have until the end of the song to finish the drabble, and then it's onto the next one.

Meh. I tag Gun toten Girly, Weird Romantic Gal and whoever else wants to do it.

Disclaimer: I don't own any of the songs, artists or Life with Derek.

1. “Music in Me” - High School Musical 2

Casey looked down at the poster telling the nation about the latest High School Musical movie coming to theatres. She honestly didn’t understand the whole craze. Kids didn’t get this hyped up about all the fantastic musicals…Grease, Chicago and all them.

“Buying tickets?” A voice asked in her ear, trying to contain its mirth.

Casey whirled around and grimaced. “No. I feel that it’s a waste of money and time.”

“Oh come on….now tell me what you really feel,” Derek teased. “You listen to the soundtracks in your spare time…I’ve seen them on your iPod.”

Casey’s cheeks flushed to an unnatural color. “I’ll have you know that Edwin and Lizzie put them on as a joke! And I do not listen to them!”

Derek smiled as he walked away. Something he really shouldn’t have done. The next morning the soundtracks were all he found on his iPod complete with extra karaoke bonus tracks.

2. “Why Not” - Hilary Duff

You think you’re going nowhere when you’re walking down the street?!”

Acting like you just don’t care, when life could be so sweet!”

Covering his ears to the sounds coming from the living room, Derek stumbled into the family room.

“You sound like a dying hippo!” He managed to cry over the sounds from the portable stereo.

Casey turned, indignant. “Better than a pig in labor,” she said, annoyed.

“Touché,” Derek looked around. “Why do you listen to that Disney stuff anyway?”

She shrugged. “It’s relaxing. You don’t have to think about the music….just listen.” She paused. “Though because you have no artistic depth, that might be how you listen to all music.”

3. “This is Me” - Camp Rock

Lizzie smiled warily as she heard sounds of the latest Disney movie craze float from her sister’s room. It was obvious that no matter what Casey told Derek, she did enjoy listening to the Disney songs, a habit Lizzie and Edwin had probably started by putting the soundtracks of High School Musical on her iPod.

This is real, this is me, I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be!”

“She does know that her singing can be heard over the entire house, right?” Edwin asked curiously, coming up behind the soccer player.

Lizzie shrugged. “If she doesn’t, she will soon,” she replied motioning as Derek’s door was slammed open.

4. “End” - Simple Plan

Lizzie covered her ears with her hands as sounds of arguing drifted under her closed door. Casey and Derek’s arguing was bad enough, but all in all it wouldn’t effect the entire family life. The current arguers could though.

“You’re to controlling! I can’t do anything I want to do anymore!” George shouted.

“Well if you weren’t such a messy slob sometimes…!” Nora yelled.

A tear slid out her eye. It was just like back at the old apartment when Nora and her ex-husband argued. Lizzie didn’t want to be uprooted again and loose her step family. She cared about them to much.

5. “Miracle” - Paramore

“Where are you going?”

“Out.”

“Obviously. I want to know times, locations and phone numbers.”

Marti rolled her eyes but dug around in her purse anyway. Holding out a slip of paper she said, “I’m going to Smelly Nellie’s, I’ll be back by 11:30 and there’s my new cell phone number.”

George took the paper, smiling. “You’re much more obliging about this than Derek was at 16.”

“Trust me. I have no wish to sit here talking about irresponsibility for 2 hours and 13 minutes if I leave on the sly.”

6. “The Tide is High” – Atomic Kitten

Casey rubbed her arms as the sea breeze played with her hair. So much was confusing now-a-days. She wasn’t a high school kid who detested her step-brother because he didn’t do things the way she wanted them to be. Now she was a junior in college and she and Derek got along pretty well.

Too well, some people might say.

They were probably right. She should have stuck with hating him. At least then she didn’t have to worry about what she was really feeling showing on her face. Things she’d prefer to keep personal. Things she had never even considered before becoming his friend in senior year.

With an annoyed sigh she picked up a stone and threw it into the ocean with a great amount of force, watching as it caused ripples in the water.

Everything was easier before she started liking him.

7. “Ever Ever After” – Carrie Underwood

It could never have happened otherwise. It was for the best anyway. Despite all the looks and glances directed when people thought he wasn’t looking, it was totally worth it. Just to see the look on her face when he proved her wrong. When he proved her wrong. What a wonderful sentence.

She was never wrong, or so she thought.

But now even she knew she was wrong. Because he had gone through with it…despite the beating his reputation had taken when it had leaked out.

He blamed Sam on that one.

So now the whole school knew that he had gone to see Enchanted with Marti, Lizzie and Edwin, something that wasn’t in the job description of the resident bad boy.

And surprisingly, no one believed it was because Casey had said that there was no way on earth or above that he could sit through one with munchkins surrounding him.

8. “Start the Party” – Camp Rock

“Sneaking out?”

The boy froze with his hand on the door knob.

“Phh…no,” he said uneasily, turning around.

Casey sat on the couch, magazine in hand, eyebrow raised. “So you’re going to join the others at Marti’s play, huh? Finally decided that it was the right thing to do, not going to that party, right?”

Derek grinned. “Yeah. Marti’s my sister; I should be there for her.”

Casey nodded energetically, no trace of sarcasm on her face. “I’ll go with you then. Marti is my sister too. I only stayed here to make sure you didn’t sneak off. But now that I know you’re such a good brother, I’ve got nothing to worry about.”

Derek managed a wobbly smile. “That’s me. Good brother through and through.”

9. “Volare” – Vitamin C

“I swear your mom is the coolest!” Lizzie crowed, looking at the passing Spanish countryside.

Half hearted murmurs of agreement came from all over the bus.

Lizzie rolled her eyes and swatted Edwin in the arm.

“Ow!”

“I said, don’t you think your mom is the coolest for bringing us all to Spain?”

Edwin managed a bright smile. “Yeah! Totally! And don’t hit me again,” he finished warningly.

Casey looked up from the guide book in excitement. “This is going to be so cool!” She said loudly. “Madrid, flamenco dancers, bull fig-…eh…the sights,” she dribbled off lamely at Lizzie’s tense face.

“Derek, what are you looking forward to when we get to Madrid?” Edwin asked, turning around to face her step-brother.

“A pillow,” he grunted, head leaning awkwardly on the window.

10. “4 Minutes” – Madonna ft. Justin Timberlake and Timbaland

“And you’ve got four minutes to run the whole thing.” Coach Jenkins barked, ignoring the astounded and nauseated looks from the students. “Starting…now!”

The fourth period PE class took off, some of the out of shape already panting.

“Half a mile in four minutes….is he crazy?” Casey gasped.

Emily shrugged as best she could while running. “It’s better than last year…we had to climb those rope thingies in 10 seconds. Only Max managed it.”

Casey shook her head and looked over at Derek who was sprinting easily, not even gasping or sweating.

“What makes you the expert in PE? The last I checked you groaned about getting up to get the remote,” Casey snapped, irritable about the running and the intense heat.

Derek grinned, said nothing and ran faster.

“He probably just imagines a hot babe with a low cut tank top to wait for him with open arms.” Emily puffed.

A/N: Well...I tried my best. I guess I'm not to good at the writing under pressure-in under 3-5 minutes deal. :D I hope some people enjoyed it a bit.
