It’s Fine The Way It Is

Chapter One

“HELLO EVERYONE!” Kei Minami shouted into his microphone.

The auditorium erupted into cheers and applause, but in the back a girl with her vibrant red hair pulled up into a messy bun, sunk lower in her seat, turned up her Ipod, and continued reading.

“THIS TIME FOR OUR SCISSOR PROJECT WE HAVE SELECTED…” Kei stopped for a moment to pull the card out of its envelope.

“Jia Aria?” he said surprised and looked straight at the red haired girl, his secret friend.

The crowd broke into murmurs.

“Who’s Jia Aria?”

“Maybe she’s an exchange student.”

One student near Jia jabbed her with her elbow and when she looked up pointed at the stage, “You’ve been picked. Oh my god you’re so lucky.”

Jia looked up at the stage where Kei was standing still stunned and his friends, a ebony haired boy named Kazuhiko Ochiai, and the hair stylist, Shogo Narumi stood a bit impatient.

Jia stood and placed her book and Ipod back into her bag.

“Choose someone else. My hair’s fine the way it is.”

With that she turned and left the auditorium leaving a stunned crowd behind her.
