A/N - Another shortfic/drabble. This is a Yaoi drabble, so steer away those who aren't fond with it. I know there's a few people who read my work from A Family Apart - Please understand that I am trying to extend my horizons to a small extent as I try to write all genres except shota/loli, necrophilia, beastiality and other disturbing shit.

Eric Lecarde couldn't sleep. He threw the pillow over his head twice, tried to stuff napkins in his ear and tried to hard to ignore the loud and obnoxious snoring above to him. It was John Morris sleeping above him in a bunkbed. Eric and John were on a ship back to the States as John invited him to stay in Texas with him instead of taking seperate paths knowing how miserable Eric still was after his wife passed away. While Eric and John were still the best of friends, one thing was definitely certain:

They couldn't share a room together.

Fed up, Eric picked up a vinyl record and placed it on a record player. He was playing some opera music as he laid back, making another attempt to fall asleep again.

"Eric, what the hell?!" He grunted out, as he sat up.

He sighed, pausing the music briefly, climbing out of the bed now. "You're my best friend, and I love you but your damn snoring can wake the dead!" His voice was stern.

"..Oh," John said, looking away. "My snoring's worsened, hasn't it?"

No answer. John slouched and sighed, looking like a sad little puppy. When he looked like that, Eric could not be annoyed with him much longer.

The next morning, Eric ended up sleeping much too late. He climbed out of the bed to find that John wasn't up there. He must've went outside to vomit overboard. He did go out drinking at victory parties, while Eric came back to the nearest inn to rest up. By the time he arrived outside, there was John out there, leaning against the rails. The air smelled of seasalt, so maybe John had the high alcohol tolerance he claimed to have after all or he did all the vomiting the night before, who knew.

John then turned to see Eric still tired. "Mornin'," He greeted with a grin.

"Morning, John.." Eric jumped a little, a little surprised at John's giddy mood.

"Did you rest well?" John asked, scratching his head. "You must have, seeing what time it is now."

"I...see." Eric then straightened his back. "Um, I wanted to apologize for what happened earlier."

John opened his arms and embraced him. "It's no big deal. Even the best of friends can get on each other's nerves."

All was silent. Eric then wrapped his arms around his firm, thick waist and sighed at his warm breath against his shoulder as John was a little shorter than him. He then traced his fingers down John's prickly jawline. He looked slightly confused, but for some reason, he liked Eric's touch. Eric suddenly pulled his chin towards John's for a kiss. John wanted to push him away, but his lips were softer than the lips of any woman he ever kissed in his life.

It wasn't a silly kiss coming from exploding horomones, but a kiss that meant that Eric loved him no matter how much John annoyed him. It felt so strange, but nothing else could make Eric happy like John's smile.

Fin.
