Rupert Giles was always under stress. Incoming Slayers traveling in from around the world everday day, new demonic powers that threatened the world... Everyday. To handling those he thought of as his own children. Now, however he was under a larger amount of stress due to the Ministra of Magic sitting across from him sipping her tea.

Rachelle Quinn, who had just accepted her title not long ago, was one of the youngest Ministers that Giles had ever heard of. She looked all business in her expensive robes, frameless glasses, and tight blonde bun in her hair. Her large blue eyes, however, were worried and he saw them while she sipped her tea.

“You make a splendid cup of tea,” she said after slowly letting her cup settle against the priceless china.

“Thank you,” he replied after sipping some of his own. “Forgive me for being forward, but may I ask why you have come here to Cleveland?”

She frowned, her plump pink lips catching his attention and he cleared his throat. She hadn’t noticed and he was thankful. He was a middle-aged, well maybe a tad bid over middle-aged, man ogling a woman at least twenty years his junior. He was, indeed, acting like a schoolboy.

“We’ve felt a disturbance,” she said, her eyes troubled. “Seers are gaining visions of a darkness that of which we’ve seen with Voldemort…”

And like Harry Potter, one of the most well respected Aurors that Giles had the pleasure of meeting, Rachelle could state the deceased dark lord’s name without pause.

“There have been attacks, from a new group calling themselves the Black Knights. They are attired much like Voldemort’s Death Eaters, except they wear hooded robes and black masks. Though we feel Death Eaters that escaped and evaded our Aurors have teamed up with the Knights, there is no connection with this new power and Voldemort.”

“This new power… Do you know anything of it?”

“No,” she said, looking upset. “We have gained nothing save for the group, who have been spotted but have yet to take a life. We’ve seen their mark, a black dragon, burned into the earth but that is all. We are not sure if it’s a demonic or magical threat. We’ve only seen them in the magical community… For now, that is.”

“What do you want from us?”

“I’ve heard wonderful things about the new Council. It being under your control, many of us at the magical community have gained new respect. We’ve heard of your slayer’s reputation and one has caught the eye of our Aurors.”

Thinking she was speaking of Buffy, Giles interrupted.

“We cannot lose Miss. Summers, I’m afraid she’s needed with us… However we have-”

“Oh no,” said Rachelle. “Tis'nt Miss. Summers we want.”

She slid the file that’d been in front of her across the table and when Giles saw the name he grew confused, and it showed on his face so Rachelle continued.

“We need someone ruthless,” she said. “She’s dealt with dark powers before. Her reformation is impressive as is her track record. Has fought the Beast, Angelus, and the First. We need someone who is willing to get their hands dirty.”

“She isn’t as trustworthy as Miss. Summers. Could go and run off without a word and doesn’t take orders well.”

“I’m certain with what we have to offer she will have no problems taking orders. We would also require a witch, Miss. Rosenburg, if possible.”

“Willow?”

“She did train with our Coven, we may need her skills to battle the threat if it proves to be an admirable foe.”

“I don’t know,” said Giles as he stood at the window.

“Mr. Giles,” said Rachelle, also rising. “I get that they are like your children, you want to protect them at all costs… But-isn’t the final say up to them?”

Indeed it was.

“They will not want to go in blind,” he said. “They will wish to meet with you.”

“Very well.” Rachelle moved to the fireplace, grabbing a small handful of floo powder. “I’ll arrange a meeting tomorrow… Do they know of our community, or did you keep them in the dark?”

“They do not know… Not even Willow…”

“Hm… I do not envy you.” She tossed the powder inside the fireplace. “Ministry of Magic!”

She was gone, leaving Giles alone with his thoughts… Finally he moved to his desk and pressed a button.

“Yes?”

“Please send Ms. Lehane and Ms. Rosenburg to my office.”

“Yes Mr. Giles.”

He settled back into his chair, and wondered how it was he would break the news to Faith and Willow about a world they didn’t even know existed.

“Bloody hell,” he cursed, reaching for his tea, then made a last second decision and grabbed his scotch instead. He was going to need it, because what he had to tell Faith, especially Willow: was something he had hoped he’d never have to divulge.

“H-how could you keep this from us? From me?” asked Willow, begging for an answer with her eyes, which showcased how upset she really was.

“Willow…”

“No! No Giles! No excuses,” she said, voice trying to be strong, but wavering. “After all I went though…”
