Disclaimer: I don’t own anything to do with Dark Angel and I’m not receiving anything for writing this story i.e. money. I leave all that for the creators James Cameron and Charles H. Eglee.

The only thing I do lay any kind of claim to are characters that I create and the plot of the story itself.

Reviews: feel free to leave a review but if it’s only to leave criticisms or bad reviews about my fanfic then don’t bother, if it's constructive then please do review. This story is my creation, my thoughts, if you don’t like the plot of the story then don’t read it; I’m not making you read it!

A/N: as I’m sure some have realised this fic has indeed been on fan fiction before…I removed the story to upgrade it - make it better & get a better start on the whole story before I started uploading new chapters etc… so I’m hoping this time round things will go a lot smoother!!

Terminal City 2021

Max strolled silently down one of the many alleyways in Terminal City. She was deep in thought about many different thing like, all the events that had led her to this moment in time. How she wished things had been different, no Manticore, no Lydecker and certainly no Ames ‘bloody’ White, of all the things fate could have dealt her this was what her life was to always be like on the run having to look over her shoulder…

Her thoughts were rudely interrupted by the one and only Alec ‘now there’s another story to big to tell…’ she thought.

“Max! Hey Max! Wait up…” Alec quickly caught up to her “Well are you going to tell me what you’re doing a way out here? Oh let me guess? Thinking about Logan, right?” by the look he received from her he soon released that it wasn’t anything remotely to do with Logan.

“Alec what do you want? You can’t have come out here after me to ask me something as stupid as the question you just asked me, right? Oh but wait I forgot to whom I was talking to, so of course it’s stupid, why did I even ask?”

“You know it’s a sign of madness right, to ask a question then answer it yourself as if it was nothing…hey!” Alec started after receiving a quick swat to the back of the head, “No I’m being serious now, you have to come back to HQ there’s been a situation that needs your immediate attention…”

“Alec you’ve been talking all this time about nothing of great importance when you were obviously sent to tell me I’m needed pronto at HQ? You idiot…” and with that thought in mind she quickly turned and headed back to HQ closely followed by Alec.

After a short period of time Max and Alec due to their ‘amazing’ abilities were now standing at the computer station, which appeared to be alive with movement. Dix and Mole quickly gave Max the low down on what had happened and by the end of their short chat Max had a severe look upon her face.

“Right, so let me get this straight Ames the newest bane to my and our existence has in his possession about a dozen or so transgenics and we don’t exactly need a ‘show and tell’ to know what he plans on doing with them. What’s our Intel on the situation?”

Logan whom Max had yet to see turned from one of the computers, “well as far as we can tell they are being held in an abandoned warehouse on the north side of sector 7 I’m just waiting on the specs of the site to download and we should be good to go.”

“Well we know where they are at least, what kind of force are we likely to meet upon arrival?”

“Nothing that should cause too much bother to a handful of transgenics around four or five if even would need to go. It looks to be a simple go in attack, subdue and rescue.”

“Well that at least is refreshing to know, lets see, Alec go grab a few X5s you know and trust and get them ready to go in ten we move out in fifteen” she turned to face Logan “do you have those specs yet?”

“Yeah they’re right here” he reached round and snatched the print out from the machine.

Max studied the plans carefully, “Great I’ve got it, two teams of two go in from the sides and I’ll get in from the roof, thanks Logan. ALEC!”

“You bellowed?” replied Alec with one of his traditional smirks planted on his face.

“Lets move out…” Max said turning to leave.

“Max! Here take these” Logan handed her a few comms devices. She quickly fitted hers and handed one to Alec and a fellow X5 the other two would be paired off with either Alec or the X5.

Max, Alec and the X5s moved out quickly as time was probably of the essence, upon reaching the van that was ready to go Logan chimed in on the comms to check they were working alright before they set out.

Max rode up front with Alec and the rest of the Xs were in the back. “Right people listen up, White has about a dozen of our people we don’t know exact figures as our Intel won’t reach that far. We know where he has them stashed and we’re expecting minimal resistance. Alec you are taking the west side of the building with… right need to know your names people.”

The X5 she gave the comms to spoke up, “Well I’m Spike, that’s Duke to my left and that ones Thug.”

“Alright Alec you’re paired with Duke you take the building from the west, Spike and Thug you take from the east, everyone got that? Another thing, only kill if necessary we don’t need more bloodshed than necessary.”

All the reply she got was a mutual smirk that passed between her fellow X5s.

Little did any of them know that this was to be another attempt by one Ames White to try and capture Max but this attempt would turn out to be a great success, greater than Ames had ever expected…

The van with its load of X5s pulled to a halt a short distance from the warehouse. To them it looked disserted but they knew better, all the action was inside.

The group of X5s reached the perimeter fence of the warehouse and that’s when Logan’s ever-helpful voice piped in. “Max? Right there’s a two man team on the perimeter I don’t know about the inside.”

“That’s great Logan I’ve got the two guys in my sight” She signalled Alec and Spike to take them out.

With one swift jump over the fence Alec and Spike were blurring up behind the two unsuspecting men, another swift movement from them both seen the guards lying in a heap. Unbeknown to them cameras set up around the building had viewers watching them walk into a trap.

“All is going according to plan…” said one of the viewers.

Max, Duke and Thug proceeded over the fence and then Alec and Duke split to the west while Spike and Thug went to the east with none of the X5s noticing that their comms were now down.

Max went forward to the nice big pipe that ran along side of the warehouse that she proceeded to climb in hope of getting some form of roof access, ‘why did I bring rope?’ was her sighing thought.

Logan in the mean time was watching in growing horror as teams of ten or more were in the process of subduing Alec, Spike, Thug and Duke. He was trying his hardest to get in contact with Max but some very strong blocking devices had been switched on blocking all potential signals getting to Max or any of the others.

Terminal City was in mayhem as the majority watched their leader and Co. get taken out.

On the other hand an unsuspecting Max reached the roof excess and continued down the stairs to get into the warehouse. She tried signalling Alec and Spike to see if they were in alright but soon found out that all comms were down and she was more than likely walking into a major trap.

Max continued on without another thought determined to find out what was going on if anything and if indeed that this was a set up…

She rounded a corner that led onto a corridor high above the ground so she was able to get a good view of her surroundings below. She tried to stay as low as possible so as not to be seen but that failed as soon as a guard seemingly on patrol came up behind her, soon her thoughts turned to ‘how on earth didn’t I hear him approaching?’

‘Oh well…’ she slowly so as to not cause a reaction out of the person behind stood up and turned quickly sweeping the legs out from under her potential attacker.

The man dropped his weapon and jumped to his feet, oh great Max thought one of those creepy familiars. Max was soon knocked from her thoughts as the familiar struck her across the head hard with a spinning kick causing her to stumble to the ground onto one knee.

That hurt was her only thought. She quickly flipped herself back up and blocked an incoming punch from the familiar that she soon copied though her move was a bit dirtier as she kicked him hard where only a man could fall down from, the privates.

“Even with all those years of breeding to minimise your pain threshold there’s definitely something’s that can’t be bred out” and with that she turned quickly to retreat back up the stairs to find another access route down to ground level to get a hold of Alec an Co. and make a hasty exit as this whole thing was looking more and more like a trap.

Max moved quickly and silently back up the stairs finding another door that led down a spiral staircase right to ground level. When Max reached the bottom she failed to spot the sniper situated on the landing up above from which she’d just came down.

Three armed men moved swiftly towards Max with one shouting, “don’t move another foot! Get down on the ground, now!”

Max of course didn’t comply with this obvious order and stood her ground not moving but only to position herself into a fighting stance. “Get down NOW!” the three men were now surrounding Max as best they could.

Nothing seemed to move for a moment in time until Max made the first move with a swiping kick dropping one attacker to the ground but to Max as she soon found out these three men were familiars which very little if anything could make an effect on them., ‘apart from a bullet to the head’ she thought.

She found herself backed up against a wall after a severe onslaught from all the familiars.

Max used this brief moment to her advantage to take a quick lean of support off the wall but this act was to be her immediate down fall.

Two of the men advanced on her easily pinning her against the wall without too much of a struggle. Though Max now fought as best she could but this wasn’t having much of an effect on the familiars, she looked up in time to see the third creep now had his weapon trained on Max.

“452…” a voice rang out in the warehouse.
