Alright, i found the first few chaps on my computer!! As some readers have requested, the old version of Death and Demons is back up!!
Melike trudged through the forest, trying to catch a sent of her cousin, Lakeme. ‘Damn it! I can’t smell my cousin anywhere! I’ll never find her and I have no freakin’ idea where I am!’ Melike was from Europe and the last time Lakeme visited, she told her she needed to come to Japan some time.
The forest around her began to thin and soon she stood before an empty meadow, she sniffed the air again, ‘I don’t smell my cousin anywhere. But I do smell a dog coming straight at me.’ She turned her head in time to see about 100 yards off a demon with silver hair and sliver dog ears all in red walking towards her. With him were three humans, one all in purple with beads around one of his arms. Another wore strange clothing Melike had never seen before, she wore a short green skirt and white long sleeved shirt. The last looked like a demon slayer, with the custom outfit and her long dark hair pulled into a ponytail, she also carried a large boomerang looking weapon. There were two demons also, a small fox demon and a two tailed cat demon.
The dog demon noticed Melike first as she tried to duck away back through the forest. He quickly caught up to her and was in front of her, blocking her path. “Who are you and what are you doing here?” he demanded, none too nicely.
“Excuse me? I didn’t know I had to answer to you.” Melike shot back, she hated being demanded things.
“In case you hadn’t noticed, this is my forest.” he growled back.
“Your point? Fine fine, my name is Melike and I was looking for my cousin.” she decided answering his questions so she could get out of there faster.
“What demon are you? You smell strongly of dog yet also wolf.” he said, a little nicer this time.
“That’s because I’m a half wolf and half dog demon.” she responded.
“Who’s your cousin?” the demon slayer asked.
“Lakeme, she’s a dragon demon.”
“Haven’t seen her in a while.” the dog demon said more to himself.
“Why don’t you come with us? It’s a lot better than traveling by yourself.” the girl with the strange clothing asked.
“WHAT! How do we know we can even trust her!” the dog demon shouted.
“Inuyasha, SIT!” the girl said as ‘Inuyasha’ went face first into the ground. “I’m Kagome.” she said, she seems nice, “This is Sango, Miroku, Shippo, Kirara and the grump on the ground is Inuyasha.” she told her as she pointed to the demon slayer, monk, fox demon, and cat demon. “So, would you want to travel with us?”
“Only if it’s ok with Inuyasha, I don’t want to intrude.”
“Feh.” was the only response he gave.
“Oh just ignore him, it’s fine if you come with us.” Kagome said, looking hopeful at Melike.
“Alright.” she gave in. The monk, Miroku was suddenly in front of her, holding both of her hands.
“I know we just met but would you bare my child?” he asked.
“Eh?” she answered, taken by surprise at the question. Before she could respond, however, Miroku was grabbed by the ear and hauled off by Sango.
“Ignore him too.” Kagome giggled.
Shippo jumped on Melike’s shoulder as they started off, Inuyasha in the lead grumbling things to himself, not realizing that Melike could hear what he was saying, but she chose to ignore him as Shippo bombarded her with questions about where she was from.
“Where ya from?”
“Europe.”
“What’s it like, how many demons are there? Why did you leave?” he asked question after question, but when he asked the last one, everyone went silent and listened to what she would say, even Inuyasha.
“One, it’s a lot like here, except most demons aren’t as grumpy as Inuyasha. Two there are a lot of demons there. But for your last question I think it’s best if I tell you later.”
“Well why don’t you tell us now? Is it something important that we should know? What are you trying to hide?!” Inuyasha was almost instantly in her face.
“I already told you, I’m not telling yet!”
“Why not!?”
“Inuyasha SIT!” Kagome interrupted. Melike giggled when Inuyasha’s face met the ground at her feet.
“Ya know, it’s much better with you in your rightful place mutt, on the ground.” Melike shot as she stepped over Inuyasha, he growled in response.
Lakeme stood in a defense position, glaring at the wind witch in front of her.
“Who are you and why are you attacking me?” she demanded.
“My name is Kagura and my reasons for attacking you are my own.” she laughed.
Lakeme knew she couldn’t win this battle, her leg was still injured from when she was ambushed by other dragon demons, trying to dodge attacks was pointless. She flung fireballs at Kagura who easily dodged them and attacked using her Dance of Blades.
Lakeme winced and barely contained a cry when the blades pierced her sides and already injured leg, sending her to the ground. She was only able to watch helplessly as Kagura advanced on her, preparing her fans for the fatal blow. ‘Damn it! I’m gonna die and Melike hasn‘t even been here yet, she‘ll get a surprise when she finally comes here!’
Kagura smirked as she saw the fear and frustration in the demon’s eyes, as she brought her fans down there was a flash of brown. It was gone as soon as it appeared, but so was dragon demon.
Lakeme couldn’t move, or get over the shock. One second, Kagura was standing over her, preparing to kill her, the next she was lifted off the ground and the world was rushing past in amazing speed. She may be a dragon demon, but she couldn’t move this fast. When the shock pasted, she realized that she was being carried bridal style and looked up to her rescuer. He had startling blue eyes with his long dark hair pulled up into a ponytail. He had warriors clothing that was all brown on and he smelled strongly of wolf.
He finally started to slow and came skidding to a stop in front of a giant waterfall. He gently set her down on her good leg and let her lean on him for support and led her behind the waterfall which turned out to be covering a huge cave that Lakeme assumed the wolves used as a den.
He led her into one of the back sections of the den and gently helped her sit down. “Well, erm, thanks.” she said as she got comfortable, careful to not put any pressure on her leg.
“No problem I was in the area.” he responded casually as if he went out and saved people all the time.
“By area do you mean twenty miles away, I didn’t smell any wolf anywhere before you saved me.
“I was on a run.” he said casually again, rummaging through a stack of who-knows-what, looking for something.
“So you decided to save me?” she cocked an eyebrow.
“Better than giving Kagura the pleasure of killing someone and letting Naraku’s plans go right.” he came over with wraps and wrapped up her injured leg.
“Thanks, again.” she said quietly.
“No problem, by the way what’s your name?”
“Lakeme….” she was interrupted by Ginta running in.
“Kouga! Inuyasha is here!” he yelled at his leader.
Kouga stood up, “Is Kagome with him?” Lakeme rolled her eyes; it was obvious he liked this Kagome.
“Yes, and so is another girl I haven’t seen before, she’s a wolf-dog demon too!”
Lakeme stood up as fast as her leg would let her, “It’s Melike!”
Kouga and Ginta looked at her, “Who?” they asked at the same time.
“The wolf-dog demon is Melike, she’s my cousin.” she hurried as best she could out of the cave and found Melike with a group of humans and demons surrounded by the pack. “Melike!” she shouted.
Melike looked up to see her cousin limping towards her, she ran towards her, shoving the pack members that had her surrounded out of the way. She ran up and hugged her cousin. “Finally! I thought I’d never find you!” Melike shouted to Lakeme.
After they separated, Lakeme looked towards the group, “Inuyasha?” she asked the hanyou.
“Been awhile Lakeme.” he responded.
“You two know each other?” Melike asked, looking between Lakeme and Inuyasha, a smirk came on her face as she looked back to her cousin.
Lakeme noticed the smirk on Melike’s face and knew what she thought, “Not like that! We met when we were little, our parents were friends! And so were we!”
Melike didn’t let the smirk leave her face, “Ah, uh, just friends, yep.”
Lakeme bopped Melike on the head, “My leg may be injured, but I can still beat you.”
“By the way, how’d your leg get hurt, these wolves didn’t do it did they?” she asked, glaring at the wolves and ignoring the way Kouga was staring at her.
“No, the damn dragon brothers ambushed me and then I fought Kagura, Kouga saved me though.”
Melike had to laugh, “You needed saving this time, ha!”
“Only because the damn brothers had already injured my leg and I couldn’t avoid attacks.”
“I’m still not gonna let you live this one down.”
Lakeme rolled her eyes, “Of course.” Everyone sent the two questioning looks, “I’m older than Melike and have had to save her countless times.”
“But that was a long time ago.” Melike added hastily. “I just wish I could have been there to see you as the damsel in distress.”
“Kouga, you got any information on where Naraku is?” Inuyasha interrupted the cousins.
“Who’s Naraku?” Melike asked, looking between Lakeme, Inuyasha and Kouga. Everyone looked at her as if she had grown a second head. “What?”
“You don’t know who Naraku is?” Inuyasha asked, his face twisted up in disbelief.
“Hey, I’m from Europe remember.” she shot back to him.
“I’ll put it simple for you.” Lakeme started, “He’s a big, fat, ugly, evil, twisted guy who’s trying to get the Shikon no Tama and gain ultimate power.”
“Oh.” Everyone then ignored the cousins and went on ranting about where Naraku was, no one noticed the two girls slip away. “Are all demons like that here?” Melike asked Lakeme when they were out of hearing from the demons.
“No, not really, I think its just Inuyasha and Kouga, and as evil goes, ya, I’d say there are quite a few.
“Joy.”
“Come on, my home is pretty close to here.”
“Well, well, well, what do we have here? An injured dragon demon and a half-breed demon out all on their own?” The cousins looked up to see none other Kagura floating above them on her giant feather.
