Melike blushed furiously, swearing that it would show even threw her black fur, and, wait, was Sesshomaru smirking?! Looking closer, Melike realized that Sesshomaru had indeed been smiling. Hearing laughter from above, Melike looked up to see Lakeme, Kouga and Ria watching them.

Struggling a bit, she finally managed to get off of Sesshomaru, who as soon as he was up, attacked her, successfully dragging her to the edge, but now she had her claws dug into the ground again.

“Seriously, when will those two realize it?” Ria said with a sigh.

“Well it seems as if Sesshomaru has realized it and is waiting for Melike.” Kouga commented.

“And it also seems as if Melike has slowly started to admit it to herself but refuses to admit it to Sesshomaru or anyone else for fear of rejection.” Lakeme added.

All three of them nodded and continued to watch the two demons struggle. “So how long have they known each other and how many times have they fought over dominance?” Ria asked, looking away for a brief second to glance at her daughter and soon to be son in-law.

“Hm, as I would guess they have known each other for about three weeks, so almost a month and I have seen them fight before so I would guess this started from the beginning and has happened ever since.” Lakeme answered, tapping Kouga’s shoulder with her tail, and then tapping the other when he looked behind him.

Growling, Kouga whirled all the way around and grabbed Lakeme’s tail and sat on it, she growled at him, but he only smirked and stuck his tongue out at her, which she responded by sticking out her own tongue.

“Now, now children.” Ria said with a laugh.

Melike wasn’t sure exactly what she was doing; a part of her wanted to go with Sesshomaru, but the other part was her pride telling her that even if she was to go with him that she couldn’t go without a fight. ‘I don’t even know why I want to go with him, I guess I like his company. That’s not the only reason.’ her inner demon commented, ‘Alright, I’m tired of being kept in the dark, tell me what the other reason is. You’ll only deny it. Well, anyway, you are in love with him, you are in love with Sesshomaru. That is absurd. Then why do you want to go with him? Because…because… well you see…’ To tell the truth Melike couldn’t think of a reason that her inner demon hadn’t pointed out, ‘Because you love him. I guess, I guess I do. After being with him for a month I guess I have fallen in love with him. There you go, now you admitted it to yourself, now you just have to admit it to him. Why? He doesn’t like me in return; he’s only scoff at my stupid human emotion. I highly doubt that. You mean that you think he feels the same for me? Yes, I just don’t think he has admitted it to himself yet. So you want me to try and speed it up for him? Exactly. Something tells me that this isn’t going to go as planned. Just give him a reason to believe that you love him back, trust me, it will help tremendously. Alright, I’ll do it.

Turning her head, Melike looked at Sesshomaru, who looked back at her from his position next to her, her scruff once again in his mouth. Without even realizing what she was doing, Melike’s body took over and she licked his muzzle in a soft kiss. Sesshomaru was completely caught by surprise, his hold slackening so her fur fell from his mouth; he only stared at Melike, who had turned her head away from him.

‘What the hell was that about?’ he wondered, ‘What do you think I was about?’ his inner demon answered with a question. ‘Honestly I don’t know, but. But you liked it. So? Why do you want her to come back to the castle so bad? So she will take care of Rin. No, that is only what you tell yourself, there are plenty of other demonesses out there that you could chose from, but why chose her only? Because I trust her. Now there is an improvement, you don’t trust many others, and you enjoy her company. So what if I do? Now admit it. Admit what? Admit that you love her; admit that you have fallen in love with Melike. I do not feel such useless human emotions; those are what make you weak. Sesshomaru, Sesshomaru, Sesshomaru, you do feel these emotions whether you want to admit it or not, remember, I’m you so I know what you feel. And also, love doesn’t make you weak, it makes you strong. You of all people know, look how Inuyasha fought before he met that girl, Kagome I believe it was. What does that wench have to do with my brother’s fighting? After he fell in love with her and admitted it, he fought harder and stronger, doing whatever it took to protect her. Yes, his fighting has gotten better, and you believe it was because he fell in love with that wench? I know it is, and if you admit your love for Melike, you also will have more strength than you know when you fight and enemy. Plus, you already know that she loves you back. How do I know that? She just kissed you idiot. You said yourself that you are me; therefore you just called yourself an idiot. See? you didn’t have a sense of humor before you met her. So, you say I love her, and she loves me in return? My god you’re slow, Yes!! So do you admit it? I guess I do. My work here is done. Does that mean you will leave me alone for ever now? Hell no. Fine. he did it, him, the Great and powerful Lord Sesshomaru did it. He fell in love and admitted it, well to himself that was a start.

‘Oh, man, I just blew it; I knew I shouldn’t have done that!’ Melike scolded herself at being so foolish as to believe her inner demon. Until, that is, when she felt something wet hit her cheek, looking over, she noticed it was Sesshomaru’s tongue, he had kissed her back! Melike did a victory dance in her head. She whipped her head around to look at him, he had a small smile, but it was there and it showed in his eyes, he did, he really loved her back.

Sniff, sniff “I think I’m gonna cry, that was so touching.” Lakeme exaggerated, using her now freed tail to whip away imaginary tears.

“About time they realized it though.” Kouga said, grabbing her tail and sitting on it again.

“They make such a cute couple.” Ria sighed, her tail also being sat on by Kouga. She had joined in the annoy the hell out of Kouga game and it was pretty fun until he sat on both of their tails.

“Seriously, are you two trying to play the annoy Kouga game or something?” he snapped as they got their tails free and began to poke at him again.

They looked at each other and grinned before replying simultaneously, “Yep.”

“Whatever, lets just get down there again, this high altitude is giving me a head ache.” Kouga whined, jumping on Lakeme’s back before she and Ria jumped down to join the two other demons.

“Well at least you finally realized that you love each other, I was getting impatient with you two.” Ria said, flicking them both on the nose with her tail.

“So when do you plan on pups?” Beauvais asked, landing next to Ria while wrapping his tail around hers.

“Uhh….” Melike and Sesshomaru looked at each other as did Lakeme and Kouga.

“Oh, come on now, Lakeme and Kouga, you two have to give us some grandchildren! Melike and Sesshomaru don’t think you two are off the hook, Melike, you are like a second daughter to us, so we expect some pups from you two too.” Ria said with a sly smile.

“Ria!” Melike and Lakeme shouted, blushing madly.

“What?” Ria said innocently, with a grin to Beauvais, they took off, “Well we don’t want to stall you four, now get to it!” she shouted before they disappeared into the clouds.

By now all three were blushing (This Sesshomaru does not blush, but there was a faint pink ;)). “Come on; let’s go find Inuyasha and the gang.” Lakeme said, motioning Kouga to get back on her back.

“Why would I want to see my pathetic half-brother?” Sesshomaru asked.

“Yah, why would I want to see mutt face?” Kouga asked.

Both guys earned a clobber on the head, “Be nice to Inuyasha!” the girls commanded before they took off back towards mother earth.

It didn’t take them long to find the group, thanks to Sesshomaru’s nose. As soon as they landed, Inuyasha pulled out his Tetsusaiga, “What do you want Sesshomaru?” he yelled, challenging his older brother.

“Inuyasha, sit!” Kagome sighed as the four walked over to the group, ignoring the face planted and cursing Inuyasha.

Melike smiled as she, Lakeme and Sesshomaru reverted back to their human forms. Lakeme and Kouga were holding hands, which Kagome saw right away.

“Oh my god! Lakeme, Kouga! You’re together?!” she yelled getting Miroku and Sango’s attention.

They just nodded as Kagome squealed and ran over to give the couple a hug, “Congratulations!” she yelled, Sango and Miroku nodded in agreement with Kagome. Inuyasha finally got his face out of the ground and put his sword away, he then noticed how close Melike and Sesshomaru were standing to each other, and it looked like Sesshomaru’s arm was wrapped around the wolf-dog’s waist.

Grinning from ear to ear, Inuyasha walked over to his brother, “Well look who finally decided to show some feelings.” he teased, Sesshomaru cocked an eyebrow and nodded to Melike, she grinned.

“Oh like how you have admitted to Kagome that you love her?” she asked, loudly, Kagome and Inuyasha blushed. Kagome noticed Melike and Sesshomaru too.

“Oh, that is so cute! You two are the perfect couple!” she yelled, giving Melike a death hug. Melike grinned when she heard Sesshomaru’s protective growling.

Kouga, Inuyasha and Sesshomaru stopped and stood stiff, a soft, yet angry and menacing growl came from their throats. Curious, Lakeme and Melike sniffed the air, and started to growl as well.

“I sense the jewel.” Kagome said quietly.

“I sense a foul aura.” Miroku said.

“Me too.” Sango agreed, getting into a fighting stance while Kirara changed into her bigger form and Shippo ran and hide behind Kagome.

In one swift move, Inuyasha had pulled out a transformed Tetsusaiga, Sesshomaru pulled out Tokijin, Kagome had notched an arrow, Sango had Hiraikotsu in a ready position, Kouga, Lakeme and Melike got into fighting stances.

There he was, coming out of the bushes, it was him, the one and only one, it was the real him, no puppets. It was the guy who was everyone’s enemy, and it was his real body, it was Naraku. In his hand was a nearly complete Shikon Jewel. Kagura, Kanna, Hakudoushi and his army of demons were behind him. This was it and everyone knew it, this was the final battle.

Sango was the first to know something was wrong, but Naraku beat her to saying it, “No, Kohaku is not here, I had no use for him anymore, and he had a shard, I removed the shard from his back that gave him life Sango.” he said with an evil laugh.

Sango looked down, tears streaming down her cheeks, “You sick bastard, you find pleasure in causing people pain?!” Melike yelled, growling, her youki was rising dramatically, even Sesshomaru took a step away from her. When Sango looked up, besides the tears still pouring from her eyes, her eyes were fully of anger and fury.

“Hiraikotsu!” she yelled as she threw her giant boomerang, that started the battle.

“Wind Scar!” yelled Inuyasha as he slammed the sword to the ground.

“Wind Tunnel!” Miroku yelled.

“Take this Naraku!” Kagome yelled as she let lose an arrow.

“Your head is mine!” Kouga yelled, running into the battle.

“Dragon Strike.” Sesshomaru said as the attack shot from his sword.

“Dragon Fire!” Lakeme shouted, throwing balls of fire from her hands.

“Poison Spray!” Melike yelled as blue, deadly poison shot out of her hand.

Kirara jumped into the battle as little Shippo did his best, “Fox Fire!” he yelled, but it only confused some of Naraku’s demons.

Naraku, Kanna and Kagura sat and watched Naraku’s demons be destroyed. Kagura and Kanna went into the battle while Naraku watched. ‘Those two demonesses, the dragon and wolf-dog, they are powerful and will need to be taken care of first.’ He grinned as he thought of a plan to get rid of them, if he could absorb them, then he would simply kill them.

Soon it was only Naraku, Kagura, Kanna and Hakudoushi left for the group to fight, and they knew they would be the hardest. The group fought hard, Miroku was out cold from taking in too many of Naraku’s insects and so was Kirara, who had been severally injured by Hakudoushi. Shippo stayed with Miroku and Kirara and Kagome had run out of arrows.

Melike’s youki had gotten to an all time high and Naraku noticed, he was about to head straight for her when her youki exploded, sending him and all others around her flying backwards. When the debris settle, Melike was in her true form and looked more pissed than anyone had ever seen her. Lakeme, too changed into her true form, as did Sesshomaru.

Everyone was fighting their hearts out, and after four hours almost everyone was worn out and sported numerous injuries, though Melike was set on killing Naraku, so she didn’t stop, Naraku was beginning to barely dodge her attacks and got hit a few times, that is when he put his plan into action.

Shooting out tentacles, he surrounded Lakeme and Melike in them, closing in on the so they would eventually become bound. The two fought hard to destroy the tentacles, but more would only replace the others. The others noticed what Naraku was doing and tried to come to their aid, but Kagura, Kanna and Hakudoushi kept them at bay, along with Naraku’s tentacles he hit them with as well. Finally, Kanna and Hakudoushi were brought down, and Kagura turned to attack Naraku. As he dodged Kagura’s attack, he called on her heart and squeezed, she collapsed on the ground.

“I told you what would happen should you betray me Kagura, say goodbye to your life.” he squeezed harder until the heart stopped beating and Kagura lay motionless on the ground. Her remains turning into dust before anyone could do anything. Finally Naraku’s tentacles had wrapped firmly around Lakeme and Melike so they couldn’t move. The other’s tried to help; a now conscious Miroku tried to suck up the tentacles in his Wind Tunnel but had to stop when more of Naraku’s Poison Insects came out of seemingly nowhere.

“Now watch as I kill your pathetic friends.” Naraku chuckled as he tried to kill the two demonesses. Sesshomaru and Kouga attacked with all they had, Inuyasha used his Adamant Barrage to stab Naraku. But he still lived and Melike and Lakeme’s cries stopped, they could barely breathe let alone fight or yell.

Time seemed to stop for everyone as two sharp tentacles made there way to their friends, the moved as fast as they could to stop the flesh piercing skin from reaching Melike and Lakeme. But they weren’t fast enough; they couldn’t do anything as the two spear like tentacles entered into the mass of tentacles holding the demonesses still. Their heartbreaking and pain filled cries could be heard for miles.

Naraku dropped the two and all they could do was fall to the ground, blood pouring out of a deep wound in both of their chests. Everyone ignored Naraku for the time being and raced to their friends, who had been forced to revert back to their human forms.

Sesshomaru placed Melike’s head in his lap and Kouga did the same for Lakeme, both girls breathing heavily as each breathe came faster and shorter.

“Lakeme don’t leave me! I love you!” Kouga yelled frantically.

“Melike, you have to hold on, keep holding on, for me. I love you Melike.” Sesshomaru said quietly, looking into Melike’s dimming eyes.

“I love you Kouga, stay strong for me.” Lakeme said barely above a whisper.

“Keep holding on for me Sesshomaru.” Melike’s voice was becoming raspier and quieter.

“No, Lakeme don’t talk like that, you’re going to make it through this.” Kouga said, he was getting frantic.

“I need you Melike; you showed me the light, stay here with me.” Sesshomaru said so only Melike could here him.

“I…I love you…Kouga.” Lakeme said, her eyes becoming dull.

“I love you Sesshomaru, take care of Rin for me and remember, I love…you.” Melike whispered.

Melike and Lakeme’s eyes closed as they drew in their breath, it was getting harder and harder to breathe, and more painful with each breath. They knew it would come soon, it would all end and there was nothing anyone could do about it.

“Kill Naraku for us, avenge us.” they whispered.

“No, don’t talk like that; you will be here to defeat Naraku with us.” Sesshomaru commanded, “You have too.”

“I love you.” Lakeme said almost too quietly to hear, she shut her eyes and drew in a sharp breath.

“I love you.” Melike said, also extremely quietly, she also shut her eyes and drew in a sharp breath.

Neither demoness drew a breath after that. Sesshomaru pulled out his Tensaiga and tried to find the demon/gremlin/things from the underworld to take her soul. But for some reason he couldn’t find them, and when he slashed threw Melike anyway, nothing happened. For it was already too late, Melike and Lakeme’s bodies had turned to dust and floated away on the wind. It was too late, no one could do anything, they were dead and they couldn’t be helped, they were beyond anyone’s reach.

Sesshomaru and Kouga looked towards Naraku as both of their youki soared to the highest point that even Naraku was worried. Both of their eyes were blood red, Kagome, Shippo, and Sango had tears running down their cheeks, Inuyasha and Miroku had their heads bowed in sadness. But with renewed strength, everyone attacked with such ferocity that has never been seen before. Naraku was going to die; they would make sure of it. They would full-fill Melike and Lakeme’s last wish; they would kill Naraku and avenge them. Even if it killed them in the process. All Kouga and Sesshomaru wanted to do was kill the bastard who took their loves away from them. Naraku would pay, and they would make sure of it.

So began the world’s bloodiest battle in record, everyone fought not only for themselves, but for their friends, alive and dead. That was when Sesshomaru finally understood why he had so much strength when moment ago he felt weak. It was love. Love made him stronger than ever before. He could feel the power pulse through him and new it was Melike’s spirit aiding him, as Lakeme’s was aiding Kouga. They would hold onto the love and keep the demonesses memories alive, even if it killed them.

There is a sequal up, but it is on hold and may be rewritten when i finish the new version of Death and Demons. the new version is different, with different scenes, arguements, etc. only the first two chaps remain close to this version.
