Vanishing Point

Prologue

Darkness, pure nothingness, empty the essence of black. All these things and more could describe the disturbing blackness that completely surrounded the girl. Her deep sapphire blue eyes scanning in every direction but still nothing could be seen but the dark.

An eerie sense of warmth washes over the girl as the scene changes. She now finds herself standing in a clearing. A clear crystal blue lake a few feet in front of her. Flowers decorated the ground as trees completely circle around her, creating a kind of closure for the troubled girl.

She suddenly heard something from behind her and she slowly turns, her long blonde hair blowing in the wind. A man is standing at the edge of the clearing. His eyes are an amazing shade of chocolate brown, but are hardened and cold. His hair is longer then any man’s hair should be. Easily down to the back of his knees and its an eerie shade of electric blue. What did people like to look like giant blueberries now?

She can see his lips moving but no sound reaches her ears. Having developed the ability to read lips when she was a teenager she can tell that he’s saying someone’s name. But who . . .or what this name belongs to escapes her. She opens her mouth to ask him to repeat what he just said when he grins, a pair of abnormally large canines appear behind his lips.

She comes to a slow realization . . .he has fangs. He’s vampire.

“Kagome . .” the name is whispered, and she sees the mans’ lips move again.

“Kagome . . .” he’s saying it. Is ‘Kagome’ her name?

“W-Who are you?” she manages to choke out, her throat feeling suddenly dry as the whites of his eyes slowly bleed red.

“My name is Kouga.” he smirks again. “And you my dear Kagome are mine.”

“What!?” she snaps, her temper getting the better of her. Ignoring her instincts which tell her to run she steps forward, fire burning behind her eyes. “What kind of right dose someone like you have to me?” his grin widens.

“I like your spirit dear Kagome. But it’s time to hold up your end of the deal. I didn’t kill you nor did I turn you, now you mist come with me.”

“No. I don’t know you!” he’s standing in front of her before she can even blink. His neck bends towards her and he whispers in her ear:

“Of course you do.” his arms snake around her shoulders to pin her in place. “I’m your sire.”

“Sire? What’s a-” she doesn’t get to finish as his fans easily break the skin on her long neck. She can’t fight back as she feels her blood, her very life force, being pulled out of her.

Her sight, hearing and smell are failing her the only thing she can concentrate on is the feeling of his fangs leaving her neck.

She watches --barley seeing him-- as he flicks his fangs over his exposed wrist and pushes his heavily bleeding appendage towards her lips.

“Drink.” he quietly commands. She doesn’t hesitate to take him up on his offer. Her lips sealing themselves over the wound and sucking on it vigorously.

“Welcome to immortality Kagome.” she barley hears him whisper this as her world falls black again.

Sapphire blue eyes jolt open as the girl slowly breaths. That was how this nightmare -- no, this hell, had started.

At first she had thought it would be fun to be immortal, despite having to kill people to get to stay that way. Of course it wasn’t. She could never go out into the sun that she had so loved. She had outlived her family, friends, and companions by at least 900 years, and in vampire years she was still young.

Young my ass.’ she thinks sourly, pushing the black silk sheets off of her and ambling out of her queen sized bed.

She had long since killed Kouga, the abusive bastard.

Slipping into a blood red silk dress she walked out of her room, down the hall, down 3 flights of stairs and out the front do off her mansion and into the night. The full moon lighting her path even though she doesn’t need it.

Silently she creeps into a small town in an almost isolated part of New York city. In silent search of her next meal.

She sees it. . .Poor boy never stood a chance.
