Claimer: I OWN THIS IDEA, and I own Tsubaki/Shikaku, nothing more, nothing less.

“Ne, Tsubaki-chan, are you sureyou wanna do this? I mean, really 100 sure?” my cousin, who was three years older than me, but still my best friend, Aiko asked me, as she pushed her blood red hair out of her jade eyes.

I sighed, “Yes, Aiko-chan, I’m positive I’m gonna do this.” I answered, as I fixed her with a determined gaze, my teal eyes flashing.

“Okay, okay, far be it from me to stop you, but I will warn you; this is gonna change everything.” Akio said, making an ‘I mean no harm’ gesture with her hands.

I smiled, as I was called on stage. Our school was having a talent competition, and I deiced to enter. It was the perfect way to tell my parents how I really felt.

As I walked up the stairs to the stage, I scanned the crowd. My parents, with my twin brother, Shikaku (named after grandpa), between them, were sitting dead center, so they had the best view.

I set up my mic, and adjusted my black electric guitar. I then leaned close to the mic.

“This is a song I wrote myself, and it’s for my parents. I really hope they get something out of it.”

I then began to play slowly at first, and then the notes began to speed up as I played.

Momma please stop cryin, I can’t stand the sound
Your pain is painful and its tearin' me down
I hear glasses breakin as I sit up in my bed

I told dad you didn’t mean those nasty things you
said
You fight about money, bout me and my brother
And this I come home to, this is my shelter

It ain’t easy growin up in World War III
Never knowin what love could be, you’ll see
I don’t want love to destroy me like it has done
my family

Can we work it out? Can we be a family?
I promise I’ll be better, Mommy I’ll do anything
Can we work it out? Can we be a family?

I promise I’ll be better, Daddy please don’t
leave
Daddy please stop yellin, I can’t stand the sound
Make mama stop cryin, cuz I need you around

My mama she loves you, no matter what she says
its true
I know that she hurts you, but remember I love
you, too
I ran away today, ran from the noise, ran away

Don’t wanna go back to that place, but don’t have
no choice, no way
It ain’t easy growin up in World War III
Never knowin what love could be, well I've seen

I don’t want love to destroy me like it did my
family
Can we work it out? Can we be a family?
I promise I’ll be better, Mommy I’ll do anything

Can we work it out? Can we be a family?
I promise I’ll be better, Daddy please don’t
leave
In our family portrait, we look pretty happy

Let’s play pretend, let's act like it comes
naturally
I don’t wanna have to split the holidays
I don’t want two addresses

I don’t want a step-brother anyways
And I don’t want my mom to have to change her
last name
In our family portrait we look pretty happy

We look pretty normal, let's go back to that
In our family portrait we look pretty happy
Let's play pretend, act like it goes naturally

In our family portrait we look pretty happy
(Can we work it out? Can we be a family?)
We look pretty normal, let's go back to that

(I promise I’ll be better, Mommy I’ll do
anything)
In our family portrait we look pretty happy

(Can we work it out? Can we be a family?)

Let's play pretend act and like it comes so
naturally
(I promise I’ll be better, Daddy please don't
leave)
In our family portrait we look pretty happy

(Can we work it out? Can we be a family?)
We look pretty normal, let's go back to that
(I promise I’ll be better, Daddy please don't
leave)

Daddy don’t leave
Daddy don’t leave
Daddy don’t leave

Turn around please
Remember that the night you left you took my
shining star?

Daddy don’t leave
Daddy don’t leave
Daddy don’t leave

Don't leave us here alone
Mom will be nicer
I’ll be so much better, I’ll tell my brother
Oh, I won’t spill the milk at dinner
I’ll be so much better, I’ll do everything right
I’ll be your little girl forever
I’ll go to sleep at night………”

As I ended the song, I then realized that I was crying, and that the tears were slipping from my eyes, running down my face, and landing on my guitar.

“I…..I h-hope y-you e-e-enjoyed the song….” I managed to sob, as I ran off the stage.

(Three Years Later)

“By guys, I’ll see you tomorrow!” Akio yelled to her friends, as she ran back to her house.

When she was within six feet of her front yard, she noticed a boy, three years younger than herself, standing at the gate to the front yard of her house. She immediately recognized him, and her happy mood evaporated, as she realized what day it was.

“Shikaku,” she murmured, when she was in front of him.

“Lets go.” was all he said, as he led her towards the cemetery.

“Hey, we came to visit you.” Aiko said, as she knelt before the grave, with fake cheerfulness.

Shikaku set the flowers he had been carrying in front of the grave, not being able to say anything, as tears were running down his cheeks.

If you wished to make out the name on the grave, you would have to move the bush that was obscuring it, but the two mourners knew to whom this grave belonged.

“Shika, don’t. She wouldn’t want you to,” Aiko began, but she was cut off.

“You….you don’t know anything! Don’t tell me what she wouldn’t want!” he cried, as he began to shake.

“We should go, you can’t take much more today.” Aiko murmured, her voice soothing, as she helped him up.

Shikaku said nothing, but let Aiko lead him back to his house.

The wind howled, and the bush was blown aside, the name becoming clear to the world.

Tsubaki Nara.

(A/N: I AM CRYING!! Sorry about that, please review! Oh, and if you didn’t get it, their parents were Shikamaru and Temari. Aiko is Gaara and Matsuri’s daughter. And if you REALLY don't get it, Tsubaki was so depressed by everything that was happening, that she committed suicide.

Until next time guys!

Sincerely,

Temari Sabaku Nara.)
