Title: Terrible Life Of Contradiction

Summary: Yami, since he found out he had leukemia, thought he’d never see another winter. Seto, once he was changed into a vampire, thought he’d never fall for his rival. But in a world where werewolves join gangs and millionaires are vampires, is anything truly impossible?

Mitzumi: ever since I finished vamperic tendencies, I wanted to do an ygo and Millennium snow crossover. Toya is so totally Seto and Satsuki-kun is completely Joey so who are they to fight over? Yami-chan!!

Yami: why do you always put me in the center of love triangles?

Mitzumi: oh chill. You’ll get some nookie later.

Yami: THAT’S NOT THE POINT!!

Mitzumi: Anywhoo, ONWARD!!

--

You say goodbye, I say hello.

You tell me to stop and I say let’s go.

Are we really that different?

A vampire and an invalid,

Looking at a millennium snow.

--

“Mou hitori no boku, look! Your fangirls sent you a teddy bear!”

Yami looked up from his book and sweatdropped at what he saw. Said bear was almost as big as Yugi and It nearly crushed the pint-sized duelist with its fluff. True, it was adorable but it screamed overkill.

“Jeez, how did you get that in here without the nurses freaking out?” Yami asked rising to help his aibou but staggered slightly.

“Sit back down! I’m fine. And THEY were the ones to give this to you.” Yugi admonished, setting the plushie down in a chair and gently pushing his darkside back onto the bed. “And didn’t the doctor tell you not to get up?”

“No, he told me not to do rigorous movement, not play dead.” Yami scowled then softened at the upset look on his aibou’s face. “Sorry, aibou.”

“It’s alright,” Yugi sniffed as Yami hugged him. “You’re the strongest person I know Yami. It just knocks me breathless to know that you might d-d-,” he couldn’t finish his sentence.

“Die. Well, Yugi, I’m not a spirit anymore and other that my Shadow magic, I’m still a mortal. Like everyone else, I’ll eventually die, it’s just that my time might come sooner than most” Yami said with a light shrug.

“How can you be so calm about this?!”

“Well, I am either gunna be laughing, stoic or I’m in the middle of an emotional breakdown. Besides, I have this thought that I might’ve had this coming anyway.”

“How’d you figure that?” Yugi blinked, his teary eyes drying.

“Well, judging by my own symptoms and what I have read about leukemia, my mom might’ve had it. I already told you, she died when I was 6. The most I could remember form that time was her constantly fainting or being very pale despite how much she stayed out in the sun. So therefore, I’ve come to conclusion that I had inherited it from her.” Yami explained, lying back on the bed.

“I’m so sorry, other me.”

“Don’t be. True, I miss her but I also miss everyone from my past life. And besides,” he pauses, picking up his pet kitten that Grandpa gave him, “she was a good mother. No matter how sick she felt, she’d always make time and sing to me before I fell asleep. In a way, she was the only woman I ever loved.” He finished, absently stroking the kitten’s fur, a small smile on his lips. Yugi smiled as well.

“That’s so nice. Hey, are you going to name that kitten?” Yugi asked, plopping down beside Yami on the bed.

“Yeah. I was thinking of giving it my mother’s name.”

“What’s that?”

“Cleopatra.”

“No Way! Cleopatra was not your mom!”

Yami chuckled. “You’re right. She’s past my time. I don’t really remember my mom’s name anyway. And besides, “ he holds the kitten up in the air, “I think this cat is a dude.”

As if in agreement, the kitten mews, causing Yugi to giggle, bringing a chuckle from Yami and before long, they are letting out gales of laughter until they were nearly in tears.

“I needed that,” Yugi sighs, wiping the tears from the corner of his eyes.

“Me too, aibou.”

“And I need to know if you got sum pudding left ova.”

The twinesque game kings looked up to see their friends enter the room. Yami smiled.

“Sure Joey. I saved it just for you.”

--

“Big brother, you should go out some.”

“Leave me alone Mokuba.”

“Come on please?”

“No.”

Mokuba sighed. Since their eventful trip to China, Seto’s been more anti-social than ever. He wouldn’t even leave the mansion to challenge Yami to a duel, not that said duelist is up to it.

“Look, I understand that you don’t want the public to find out about your condition but this just puts you under more suspicion.”

“For the last time Mokuba, leave me alone.” Seto growled, ivory fangs gleaming in the dark room. Mokuba sighed in defeat.

“Fine. I give up, for now. But at least promise me that if you do go out, you’ll visit Yami. He can’t duel you anymore because he’s recently been diagnosed with leukemia.”

Mokuba turned on his heel and walked out.

‘If that doesn’t get him out of the house, I don’t know what will. Yup, he’ll be asking which hospital Yami is at in three...two…one-’

“Mokuba! Which hospital is he in?”

‘Sucker.’

--

Mitzumi: isn’t Mokuba a manipulative little devil? But I luv him! That poem at the beginning is my original poem. It was supposed to be the summary but it was too vague so yea…

Yami: most of your ideas are vague, and that it’s why most of your ficts are incomplete.

Mitzumi: glares grrr…Anyway, much thankies to my beta, s2teen-chan for the leukemia research, I know I didn’t say what it was for at the time- I didn’t have a reason before- but I hope you like the result. Anyway, Yami!! Previews!!

Yami: pulls out Mitzumi’s notebook in the next chapter, I get a visit from Joey and some major love confessions get interrupted when my health goes downhill. Afterwards, I go out with Seto and find out his big secret. What was it that he was hiding? Find out in chapter 2 of Terrible Life Of Contradiction!

Mitzumi: R&R&R!!
