Don’t Look At Me

What do you know about being true?

What have you ever done that makes you “good”?

You’re nothing but a joke in their eyes.

A nuisance who refuses to die.

Just give up and stay down.

That’s what they say to get you out of town.

If you’re as strong as you think,

then get up and do something.

Make them see you.

Dare them to lost their cool.

You’ll soon understand that teachers may say they care,

but in the end they’ll only offer a glare.

So what are you waiting for?

Someone to open the door?

Why don’t you get it, you fool?

Your destiny has been set in stone

And you’re nothing but a tool.

You may have a mind of your own,

But do you really think you’ve grown?

Sometimes the wind will drift the other way,

But you’ll always be the prey.

Pity is your name,

Happiness a troubled game.

Your armor is cracked and broken.

Why don’t you just admit that you’ve lost your moment?

To be great and divine.

To have fame and be oh so fine.

Who ever thought it’d turn out this way?

With a snake like you as your only friend,

A mindless minion as your trophy wife.

Who needs enemies when you’ve got a viper in your bed

And another in your head.

Pretending to need you,

until you have nothing left to defend.

Knowing they can fool you,

And gleefully plunge you into strife.

Your pain,

Their gain.

So easy to shun.

This is just too much fun.

The time has come.

You must surrender or run.

Choose your poison.

You know you’ve lost your position.

This Femme Fetale has got you now.

Just try and make me bow.

Unlike you I’ve got some pride.

I won’t change my mind no matter what the price.

Why don’t you actually look me in the eye?

Demand my sympathy or promise to sever ties?

At long last,

Turn your back on this world of corruption.

To test your wits on someone who isn’t a substitution.

Because unless you favor

The same old predictable behavior,

Of cast-off lovers and false humanity

You best believe that you’re coming with me and leaving with your sanity.

Are you game?

Or are you truly tame?
