Jade Eyes

Those eyes haunt me
I can’t ignore
The emotions I saw when
I closed the door

They say the eyes are windows
Into one’s soul
The real truth of those words
Is taking its toll

I see jade eyes when I close my own
The disappointment and hurt…
Why must I always
Be so curt?

The windows to my soul are
Covered – Unclear
I can’t risk it to show
My love… my fear…

In truth, I am longing
To see those eyes again;
To show how I feel;
Prove we are friends

Instead I must wear
Darkness’ guise
But I can take comfort
In those Jade Eyes.
