'Taichou...please...can we go?'

'Matsumoto. The meeting hasn't even started!'

'But it's so hot!'

'Deal with it.'

'Easy for you to say!'

'This is an important meeting!'

'What's it about?'

'I don't know.'

Matsumoto pouted. 'I'll tease you again if we don't go!'

Hitsugaya's eye twitched. 'if you do, i will freeze you'

He knew what Matsumoto was going to tease him about. Since last Winter, he had finally had a growth spurt, putting him at the same height as her. He no longer looked like a middle shooler, but now more like a high schooler, since he was still very young. At least Ukitake had stopped giving him so many lollies. His growth spurt had a bad side effect though. Fangirls. Rabid, scary fangirls.

Matsumoto gave a resigned sigh and glared over at the seemingly sleeping Soutaichou Yamamoto.

Hitsugaya Toushiro was probably the only person in the hall that wasn't affected by this extreme heat. He was confused by the turn-out of shinigami. As usual, the taichous were present, their fukutaichous hovering behind them, talking. What was odd about the turn out was that all of 9th squad were present. The rest of the squads were back at their barracks.

9th squad's captain was of course missing, along with 3rd and 5th squad's captains. Together, Aizen Sosuke, Ichimaru Gin and Tousen Kaname had betrayed Soul Society and formed their own army in Hueco Mundo.

Hitsugaya sighed and looked over at his fukutaichou, Matsumoto Rangiku, who was standing on tip toes, hoping to spot one of her many friends. Her scanning eyes were met by a pair of bright, frowning teal ones.

'Have you done any of your paperwork?' Hitsugaya asked Matsumoto, already knowing the answer.

Matsumoto smiled sheepishly. Hitsugaya glared. A loud bang brought everyone's attention over to Yamamoto's vice-captain, Sasakibe Chojiro. He stepped back to Yamamoto's side and watched as his captain stood up arubtly, bringing an end to all conversation.

'I have called you all here as a welcoming party' Yamamoto announced, his voice echoing off the walls.

The muttering immediately ceased with another echoing bang from Yamamoto's staff. He pointed his staff towards the huge wooden doors at the entry of the hall. The flew open with a small bang.

'Please welcome the new captain for 9th squad'
