Bloody Roar:
A Foreign Warrior
Ch. 1- Shippo the Dragon
Gado grabs Yugo and strikes his head sending him to the ground. As Yugo’s last bit of life disappears all that is heard is a loud roar, “NOOOOOO!!” A young man falls to his knees as the announcer says, “You Lose.”
“I beat you again little bro,” my brother says to me as he drops the controller on the couch, “no need to get all dramatic Dex.” I drop my controller and put my forehead against the floor. “SHIT!” I rise frustrated that I lost again. “How do you keep beating me, I’m the one that plays the game day and night!” My brother laughs at me, “Maybe if you stopped trying to do a beast drive on me when you know you can’t do it on the first try.”
“I’m visiting for a reason Dex, I found some stuff while I was studying Japanese history in Japan that I thought you might like.” My older brother just got out of college a year ago and decided he needed to travel. I’m still in high school and stuck in this boring town. I’m 5’ 9” and reasonably fit for a kid that plays video games all day. I have blonde hair and orange eyes, yes you heard me correctly, orange. “ I know you think I went to Japan because that is where you’ve been wanting to go your whole life, so I decided to bring some cool souvenirs.”
He brings his suitcase to the couch, opens it, and hands me two objects one is a lighter shaped like a dragons head and tail, and some type of fan with a foxes head and 9 razor sharp tails that came off. “Are you sure you should be giving your little brother a lighter and a fan made of knives?” “ I found the fan while I was hiking in one of the forests in Japan, the lighter I bought off of some weird geezer in a market place. If mom asks, you found them at the pawn store. The symbols on the lighter mean “The tail of the Dragon”” I look at the lighter and flip the mouth open and a flame the size of one of my fingers comes out. “ It’s a pretty good lighter, thanks bro. I’m still mad at you though.”
“That’s okay, I’m going to take a shower, don’t burn the house down.” My brother leaves the room and I start playing with the lighter. The flame turns into a dragon and roars at me! “OH SHIT, WHAT THE HELL!!” I yell as I throw the lighter across the room, almost crapping my pants. “Are you, ok!” my brother runs back into the room after hearing the commotion. “That lighter roared at me!” “Are you an acid, I almost broke my neck getting out of the shower?!” My brother turns around frustrated and walks back out of the room, cussing under his breath.
I walk cautiously over to the lighter, I tap with my foot and nothing happens. I pick it up and I open it and shield my face with my other hand. Nothing happens. No flame came out at all. I look closer and flames shoot out and consume me. My teeth expand and sharpen, causing me extreme pain. I feel like my back is about to burst, I look back and I’m growing wings. My whole body is being altered and I feel so much excruciating pain that I roar. It was the loudest roar I had ever heard, I couldn’t believe it was me.
With that I disappeared along with the lighter, leaving a scorched circle behind. I feel like I’m being propelled at break neck speeds through some type of void. I feel a piercing pain in my chest, I see the Unborn and I blackout.
Bakuryu jumps as he steps on a body lying on the ground. He props the body up and checks to see if its alive. He decides it’s alive because he hears some faint breathing. ‘From the looks of him, he appears to be a fighter, maybe a zoanthrope.’ He sees a katana lying next to the body and assumes its his. “Can you hear me?” the man flinches but barely opens his eyes. “What’s your name?”
“I’m, um, I’m…” I don’t know, I can barely understand the person. I look at the sword next to me and get a faint headache. “I’m… Shippo.” With that I pass out.
Bakuryu lifts the stranger named Shippo on to his back. ‘This was an interesting way for my training to be interrupted, I better get him some help. Hopefully Alice will know what to do.’ With that Bakuryu headed home with a stranger on his back, not knowing what was about to come.
