Ch. 2-Lupin, The Musical Wolf

‘What is that sound?’ All I see is black, I hear the sound of running. I realize that my eyes are closed and I try to open them, but I cant. My whole body feels sore, but why? I don’t remember anything, not even my name.

I manage to force my eyes open, but the strain causes me to cough, I feel a sharp pain in my chest. I see a back and the ground. ‘Is someone carrying me? Was I attacked? Who is carrying me, is he my captor or a friend? I’m so thirsty.’ “Water… please.”

Bakuryu is looking for a stream too give water to this stranger on his back when he hears it. It was faint, but it was defiantly the sound of a twig snapping. ‘I don’t have time to fight right now, this guy needs help, but if I try and run ill be an easy target with this guy on my back. Is that music?’ The sound of guitar strings being plucked can be heard clearly above the sound of a stream.

Bakuryu walks into a clearing, he sees the stream but he can not seem to find the source of the music. He lays Shippo against a rock next to the stream. ‘Hopefully whoever is following me isn’t after him, he wouldn’t last a second. He looks like he is almost dead.’ He searches the guys clothes and finds a collapsible cup, he decides to get him some water and prepare for a fight.

The music stops as Bakuryu gets the water from the stream. He barely has time to give Shippo the water before a fist flies at him. Bakuryu dodges and to his surprise, there wasn’t a body to go along with the fist. ‘Kohryu, that machine is a pain in my ass, that would explain why this guy is hurt, he must be a zoanthrope.’ Missiles fly at him. He throws down a smoke bomb and appears in front of a bush, expecting to see Kohryu on the other side, but he wasn’t there. He felt a kick to his back and he flew forward. This was going to suck.

Shippo grabs the water, and the stranger disappears from his view. ‘He must have something to do, why can’t I seem to hear or see anything farther than a few feet away from me.’ He takes a drink of water hoping it will sooth his throat. He feels a burning sensation before the water comes back up boiling hot. ‘What the hell is going on.’ He coughs and smoke billows out of his mouth. He tries to put out the fire in his mouth with the rest of the water before he passes out again.

Bakuryu is having trouble, Kohryu seems stronger. He hears a gurgling sound and a cough and his attention is brought back to the hurt stranger. ‘He really needs help, wait a second, HIS KATANA!!’ Kohryu notices the injured stranger and lunges. Bakuryu get there first, grabs the katana, and barely has time to bring back up before Kohryu got there. The katana slides through Kohryu as if he was made out of tin foil. ‘This katana is amazing, how could this guy have been defeated with a sword like this. WHAT THE HELL?’

The sounds of guitar strings being plucked floats on the air, giving everybody a energizing feeling. ‘This music is strange, I feel oddly calm, where is it coming from?’ The blade of the katana sparks and sets on fire. It slices Kohryu in half. Bakuryu stands there mouth hanging open with astonishment, ‘Did this really just happen? Did I really just cut Kohryu in half on accident?’

The music stops and Bakuryu falls to his knees panting. ‘What is going on, I thought Kohryu had been destroyed, and where is that music coming from?’ The music had started up again, but this time it was a more relaxing and mournful melody. A man clad in a green cloak and pants walks out of the thicket with a guitar in his hands. As he finishes his song, Kohryu’s body dissolves into a dark black mist. The mist starts to glow and turn white. It disperses into the air leaving some burnt metal behind on the ground.

“Who are you and what did you just do?” Bakuryu stares at this strange person waiting for a response. “My name is Lupin, I’m a bard from a small village in Ireland. What I just did was play a requiem to guide this tortured spirit back to the afterlife. No need to introduce yourself Kenji Ogami, or Bakuryu, whichever you prefer to be called, I know about your adventures.” Bakuryu stands there flabbergasted, not knowing what to do or say.

“The most I could do for this man is ease his pain, we need to get him to someone who can help. Perhaps your friend Alice can help, ill carry him the rest of the way, you look tired from your battle.” With that Lupin picks up Shippo and starts carrying him the direction Bakuryu was heading before he was attacked. ‘What… wait… I better follow,’ thinks Bakuryu, still confused. Bakuryu and Lupin head toward Alice’s place, carrying Shippo on their backs.
