Ok I am so sorry for the lack of updates but I assure you I wasn’t slacking off, I just had writers block and couldn’t write this particular chapter, I actually wrote many of the future chapters , I may even give a preview at the end of the chapter just as a treat for taking so long.

And I know this fic is actually looked at often I read the stats and found it quite shocking and to those who were reading ‘before the crisis: missions’ I was going to update before uni started but i had an ear infection so that stopped me.

Chapter 8: Rescue Rufus!

A huge crowd surrounded the monument in Edge’s town Plaza, large makeshift building surrounded the plaza, cars were blocked entrance to the road by a mob of town’s citizens blocking it. In the centre of the crowd stood two silver haired remnants, in a circle around the monument were children, their heads down and faces expressionless and silent.

“How do you sickos justify this?”

He tried to run though the crowd but was stopped “please Sir it’s dangerous there’s already people dealing with the situation at hand” Danial said holding the man back, the man glared at him “get out of my way my sons there!”

Cissnei sighed and helped Danial “Sir those men are dangerous I can assure you your son will be fine, please for your son’s sake don’t fight them”.

The man looked at them angry but sighed “if he dies...”

“You’ll what... now go back into the crowd and let us deal with them” Samatha muttered just loud enough for him to hear, he paled at the sight of the shotgun in her arms.

“Turks...”he wimpered before running off, Cissnei looked at Samatha “was that really nessacery you didn’t have to scare the guy to death” she scolded.

Samatha rolled her eyes “where are those two idiots, I mean we came by car so shouldn’t they have arrived before us” Samatha complained playing with her hair in boredom.

Danial sighed “be patient they were taking the helicopter down”.

Samatha scoffed while Cissnei told yet another person to calm down, Nunchaku just looked up as if hoping Samatha would quit complaining.

Not far off

Tseng, Elena and Rosalind stood in the shadows scanning the area for any signs of Rufus, Elena had some high tech binoculars in her hands that she was using to scan the area, Rosalind was making sure no one would attack them and Tseng was on the radio.

“Reno status Report?”

“Near the area Rudes just landing helicopter now”

“You know your instructions”

“Yeah beat up the remnants and stop them getting Jenovas head at all costs”

“Good and Reno... no explosives”

“Meh”

“Reno!”

Rosalind looked at Tseng “he hung up didn’t he?”

Tseng nodded “yes... Elena any signs of Rufus?”

“I’m getting a signal from that building, it’s supposed to be empty but I got trace of the President and another” Elena stated.

Tseng nodded “good we’ll head there now”

Meanwhile with Reno

Reno, Rod and Rude moved through the crowd making people move aside to let them though, Rude had his gloves on already and both Rod and Reno had their EMR’s in their hands ready.

“And what are we up to?”Reno asked rhetorically when they reached the two remnants.

Loz stared at the three Turks sneering while Yazoo spoke “we know Mother is here” Rod glared noticing he was pointing towards the monument.

Loz soon followed up still sneering at them, but was obviously struggling to find a reasonable comeback “yeah, this, uh, thing...monument thing? Shinra made it”

Reno smirked making Rod realise he found this amusing ‘what’s going on...I’m lost’.

“Oh, no you’re just too clever” Reno said before Rude followed up looking up “except you’re wrong”

Reno smirked at the confusion on Lozs face “and wherever she is, we just don’t know!”He remarked before Rude and Reno laughed.

The two remnants glared then calmed down somewhat “what aren’t the Peons trusted?”

Rod looked at them shocked “why you!”

Reno and Rude were speechless and growled angrily, finally Rude cleared his throat and signalled something, Rod took it as a sign to attack, Reno ran forward EMR flying out towards Loz and Yazoo yelling “Hryyyah!” Rude wasn’t far behind.

With Cissnei...

“Looks like the troubles begun” Danial commented obseravantly, Cissnei agreed “yeah that’s definitely Reno geez... didn’t they ever hear of being subtle”

Samatha scoffed “Its Reno what you expect”

Cissnei was about to reply when she heard screams and saw something in the sky “uh guys we better evacuate everyone” she said.

Nunchaku looked at her then at the sky and agreed “yeah and quickly come on Samatha complaining time is over” Danial said making Samatha glare at him, Cissnei just laughed.

Tseng and co.

“Uh sir we have a problem” Rosalind said looking at the Bahamut in the sky.

Elena nodded “uh oh...do you think they’ll be okay?”

Rosalind sighed “I hope so”

Tseng looked at them “they can handle it, our job is to find the President”

Rosalind and Elena nodded then followed him to the building Rufus was supposedly located in.

Reno and co.

Rod and Reno were rushing to attack again when they heard a roar, they looked up to face Bahamut on top of the monument, Rod gulped “oh damn...”

Reno halted so fast he struck Rude with his EMR knocking Rude down, Rude was soon up again and Reno said what they were all thinking “ohh boy...hel-lo”

Rude adjusted his glasses “hell no” before spinning to grab some kid.

Rod tried to yell at a woman dressed in black clothing to move, but decided against it and ran as fast as he could away from the monument grabbing a child along the way. Reno and Rude weren’t far off either except Reno was growling at a small child who was playing with his nose

“Is it after us?” Reno asked panting heavily.

“I hope not...”Rod responded.

Rude seemed to be behind them “I’m not looking!”

Rod did look and saw Bahamut release an attack sending him and everyone hurtling to the ground, Rod saw the same woman fall as well with a boy in her arms ‘I hope she’s okay’ he thought as he struggled to stand after the blast, the child he had already been holding had already run off.

“Ouch that hurt I hate summons” Rod mumbled seeing Reno and Rude get up as well.

As if things couldn’t get worse, it did as the two remnants appeared again not even affected by the blast “are we having fun yet? Huh?”

Reno looked angry and lashed out “the time of my life!”

Rod saw Yazoo kick Reno after dodging the attack, Reno fell but stood up moments later and went at him with a flurry of punches “when you gonna call it a day!?”

Rod tried to jump out of the way of Reno’s most powerful punch when Reno missed and accidently hit Rod instead, Rod fell back dazed but soon recovered to see Yazoo land on some scaffolding and speak “what? Just as soon as you give back Mother, that’ll be the end of everything.”

Rod sighed as he rubbed his throbbing head, most of the people had run off and he could see Danial, Samatha and Cissnei helping some kids get away.

Rod decided to help Reno and climbed up the scaffolding though not as comically as Reno did, he and Reno were now staring down Yazoo.

Reno looked at him as if to say thanks.

Rudes POV

Rude meanwhile was fighting Loz and every time he was thrown off he kept coming back, his usual expressionless face showed some sign of growing frustration.

“You punks...”he said as he wrestled with Loz.

“What do you need Jenovas head for?”Rude finished as he head butted Loz and tried to throw Loz off with a bridging move, but was instead flung back by Loz into a building near Reno and was hit by a sign as he landed.

Rods POV

Meanwhile Reno and Rod were still fighting Yazoo, Reno was punching him while Rod tried to sneak around and strike him with the now turned on EMR.

“Forget your little reunion and get a grip!”Reno yelled though deep breathes as he tried punching Yazoo again, but was sent flying by a powerful kick from Yazoo, Rod managed to strike the reminent with a shock but was also knocked away. He wiped blood off his split lip and launched at Yazoo only to be sent flying into a nearby building.

Dazed he looked up and groaned, he was sure he was hurt now but ignored the pain in his ribs.

“Well you got soundly beaten up didn’t you” Rosalind remarked.

Rod glared “just help me up”

Rosalind smiled and helped him up, he had to lean on her shoulder for support and saw Elena and Tseng above them.

Cissnei and co.

Samatha, Nunchaku and Cissnei had finally managed to get everyone out of the town plaza, they were all tired from running around when they saw Cloud arrive and several people come down from an airship. Cissnei smiled “looks like we can leave the rest to them”

“Who are they?”Samatha asked

Nunchaku chuckled “Avalanche, well the second version anyway”

Samatha looked confused so Cissnei finished his explanation “the ones who saved everyone from Sephiroth 3 years ago”

Meanwhile Rufus had jumped off the 13th floor of an empty building, Reno and Rude were broken from the sight of Cloud to see the President falling and shooting at a box covered in yellow tape.

“Sir no!” Reno and Rude yelled at the same time running towards Rufus, Rod looked shocked but Rosalind wasn’t worried.

“Don’t panic” she said calmly as Tseng and Elena sent nets up to catch Rufus.

Reno and Rude stopped then ran to climb up some scaffolding.

Nunchaku, Cissnei and Samatha breathed a sigh of relief as they saw Rufus was safe, the child in Samathas arm slapped her in an effort to escape, she glared at the child.

Nunchaku laughed “you deserved that”.

Cissnei put down the child in her arms, he looked at her scared “don’t be scared just go find your parents okay” she told the boy who nodded nervously.

“Tseng called he wants us to help the president” Nunchaku said pointing to where the others were located, Cissnei and Samatha nodded and followed.

Okay that was an extra long chapter but i felt you all deserved it, it was also the hardest to write, and I used the script of advent children to help with this chapter.
