The forest was unusually quiet except for the labored breathing of the small raven haired girl leaning against a tree.

Looking around, Kagome felt her heart slowly breaking... How could he have done such a thing? How could he betray her with that evil woman!

Her shoulder's drooped, head sinking so that she could stare at her weather worn shoes. Chewing on her lip, her eyes began to water and soon she could feel the torrent of her tears down her face.

"Sesshomaru," she wispered, her chest slightly constricted at the image his name brought with it.

Climbing out of the hot spring, Kagome shivered, the cold air draining the warmth of her bath had given her. Sighing she quickly scrambled to her pile of clothes and put them on in hopes of warming herself up sooner. Once she had finished she grabbed her cleaning supplies before heading off out of the small clearing.

It wasn't until she was almost back to the camp that she sensed the familar aura. Smiling Kagome changed directions, her slow steps became faster almost jogging towards the clearing she had visited many times.

By the time she had reached the large clearing her face was almost split in two, if it had been physically possible she would have smiled more.

The last step which would have taken her into the clearing, however, was never made.

Kagome paused looking out of the cover of bushes she hid behind, a second aura had made itself known. Watching her eyes widened at the sight before her, her heart beat seemed to stop for a minute as the two figures before her embraced in a way he had never allowed her to.

Sesshomaru was holding Kagura against him, his mouth running across her neck, even with a good distance between the lovers and Kagome, her weak human eyes could see his teeth grazing the skin.

Kagome ran. Her feet pounded against the ground, crashing through the forest, aware of nothing but her own pain.

Sliding down to sit against the tree Kagome let the logical side of her mind slowly intercede.

You shouldn't of ran. You know Sesshomaru is nothing like Inuyasha, something about that scene is wrong. It doesn't make sense, you must confront them. It could be a trick!

Maybe her mind wasn't so logical after all.

What reason would Sesshomaru have to betray you, it could be Naraku, or Kagura herself. She is jealous of you, maybe it was only an illusion.

Sighing, Kagome scrunched her eyes shut, hoping to block out the images of Sesshomaru that were bombarding her mind. She rubbed her hands over her face than lifted her face to the sky. The stars were beautiful here, it was one of the things she loved about the feudal era. Now it seemed it may be the only thing she had left.

Inuyasha had been her first love, but that had passed with time and pain that had scarred her heart. She still loved him, she could feel it deep within her heart the remaining affection that would always linger.

However, another had taken up a bigger spot in her heart, and now he too, had scarred her.

This time she had not been expecting it, and it made it hurt so much more.

I don't see why your so surprised, your only a weak human. He would have left you eventually, you were only a phase, whispered the cynical part of her.

Sniffling Kagome stood up, feet wobbling for a second before she stood completely. Turning her face up towards the stars once more she took a deep breath.

Inuyasha had broken her heart and now Sesshomaru, but that did not mean she would drop all she was and give up. She was a Higurashi and if there was one thing she had inherited from her mother it was her inner strength.

No, man or dog is going to keep me from completing my mission. I am not some simpering girl child. Not anymore.

With that last thought Kagome turned and headed back towards the camp, and the oblivious people that waited there.

In Konoha:

"BAKA!"

"But Sakura-chan," Naruto whined, "I only wanted some ramen!"

"You always, ALWAYS, want ramen! When are you going to take me somewhere to eat besides that damn stand!"

"You could of just asked," muttered the blonde, "instead of screaming about it."

"NARUTO!"

Sighing Naruto slowly ran his hand over the bump that now resided on his head. Wincing he let his hand drop as he slowly made his way to the training grounds. He didn't know what was wrong, but it seemed as if Sakura had been angry alot lately. He wondered once again if Sasuke had said something, if he had the blonde would personally beat him to a pulp.

It won't matter. Sasuke doesn't have to say anything, you know Sakura will always love him more. If it weren't for Tsunade's rules against any of the girls dating him, you wouldn't even be with her.

Stop it, he told himself. It doesn't matter, Sasuke was back, they were a team again, they were complete. Even if they weren't the same. Even if...

Sighing once more Naruto turned to stare up at the sky. The stars were twinkling, the sight putting him at ease. The world had righted itself, if not in his eyes, then in Kakashi's.

"Be at peace my friend," he whispered to the stars.

As suddenly as the peace had come it left, body tense the blonde looked towards the training grounds. A second later a large explosion tore through the Forest of Death, lighting up the sky with a bright pink glow.

Stunned Naruto stood there for a second, his eyes narrowing he let his chakra flow through him and settle at the bottom of his feet. Then he was gone heading towards the explosion.

Author's Note - So how do you like the first chapter! I've never done a cross over before so this should be interesting but hopefully you guys will like where I go with it. No, I'm telling you now Sakura will not remain with Naruto and no he won't be with Kagome. This is a SasuNaru fic essentially, however, Kagome will be paired up with somebody but I haven't decided who yet. I'm a big fan of SessKag, but I doubt he would actually have a relationship with a human but I'll think of something! If you want to make suggestions go ahead, they shall be considered!
