I thought I would try writing a different, new kind of fanfic, so here it is, hope you guys like it!
Disclaimer: I don't own anything you recognize, it all belongs to -the one and only- Stephenie Meyer.
It all started on the day of my 18th birthday…
"Bella!" Alice squealed as I approached the school building. My cheeks turned red as I glanced around anxiously, making sure no one had noticed. Edward stood beside Alice, and my heart thumped loudly as I got closer. He held his arms out towards me “Happy Birthday Bella” the corners of his cheeks turned upwards, as he wrapped me into a tight embrace. The sound of my heart beating filled in my ears, and I was positive everyone near me could hear it. Edward released me gently, and I let go unwillingly, but he kept a tight hold on my hand as we walked through the doors; Alice half-skipping gracefully along the hallway. People no longer stared at us, they were used to me walking with the strange pale faced family; the Cullens.
Alice mused over how we were going to go to their house after school ("Alice, when did I say I was going to go-"), and how I was going to absolutely love the presents she got for me. I frowned in disapproval “Alice, didn’t I tell you not to-”
“You knew that I wouldn’t listen to you anyways” she interrupted, a smug smile on her face, as I shook my head sighing.
As soon as school ended, I walked out with Edward to my truck. Stopping right before I went in, he smiled that lovely crooked smile at me. Even though I knew him for over a year, I couldn’t help wondering what it would be like, if he was human, if I had knew him before all these years… I shook off the disturbing thoughts, and focused on the present moment.
My breathing hitched and my heart thudded quicker and quicker as he leaned in close towards me, stopping a few centimeters before my face. “Happy birthday, Bella” he whispered in that wonderful voice, and pressed his cold lips lightly to mine.
When we reached the Cullen’s house, Alice surprised me by wrapping every single piece of furniture with huge ribbons and bows, the lights decorated with pink blow up balloons, what was I? A four year old? I grimaced at the streamer hanging over my head as I entered. “HAPPY BIRTHDAY!” they all shouted, Carlisle, Esme, Jasper, Emmett, and Rosalie stood in a row in front of me. Edward whispered in my ear “Smile, love” and I forced my lips to curve upwards as they all showered me with big Emmett sized hugs and kisses on the cheek. Only Rosalie stood by Emmett’s side, her arms crossed over her chest. I smiled at her attentively, at least she wasn’t glaring at me.
Alice led me to a huge cake on the dining room table, which they never used. Eighteen candles stood on top of the big white cake, decorated with pink and white frosting. “Make a wish!” she exclaimed excitedly. I stared at her incredulously, but she seemed so excited, so for her sake, I clamped my eyelids shut and wished something that came off the top of my head:
“I wish that I knew the real Edward, the Edward before all these years, I wish I knew what Edward was like as a human”
Little did I know, that small wish was going to change things... and change them a lot...
The lights flickered on and off a few times, before everything went black and my knees gave way underneath me.
