I never got to tell Fred my one secret. The one secret I withheld from him. You know, he probably actually knew. We could pretty much read each other's minds. I never strictly lied to him, I wouldn't be convincing. It feels so strange without him, I'm all alone. Being a twin wasn't easy. Especially when you have a secret you can never share with your twin. But now I would give almost anything to have Fred back. I wish I could just talk to him. If he was still alive I would tell him everything. Now I have no-one.
I remembered seeing him at Ron and Hermione's wedding, but we didn't speak to each other. I hardly knew the guy. I don't know why I went to sit with him when I saw him at the Leaky Cauldron, but we somehow ended up having a drink together. And I don't know if it was the sincere expression on his face or what but I ended up talking to him about how I just didn't feel the same anymore. I didn't try to hide it like I did with my family and I ended up nearly crying into my firewhiskey.
The next night I found myself rushing to the Leaky Cauldron, just in case I saw Neville there. I was very disappointed when I didn't but still I continued to go back every night after work with the faint hope I would see him.
On the fourth day I went back I was finally rewarded for my persistence. Neville was there.I felt like when I was with Neville the gaping hole inside me (and not the one where my ear had been) was filled slightly. In the very least, I didn't notice it so much when I was with Neville.
Ginny helped me run Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes. It was kind of ironic I was running a joke shop really.
One day Ginny and I were stacking shelves and I mentioned Neville to her. I asked her if he had had a crush on her when we were at school. She laughed. "I don't think he was all that into girls if you know what I mean."
My stomach clenched. Neville was gay? Well, at least Ginny didn't seem to have a problem with it.
"Ginny? What would you say if I were…gay?"
"I would say 'it's okay, I already know.'"
"You know, I think I might just get a room here tonight," Neville said hazily. He unsteadily stood up and wobbled off to find Tom. He held up the key, "Do you want to come up?" I followed wordlessly.
"Are you drunk?" he asked me.
I shrugged at the question, "Why?" My heart started to pound rapidly.
"I want you to remember this tomorrow," Neville said and leaned in to kiss me.
I accepted the kiss with a fluttering stomach, and accepted his fingers as they linked with mine.
Afterwards, I slipped into a sleep free of torments and worries.
