It’s a miracle!! I knew this would have to happen!! The ride home!!
Disclaimer: I do not own Naruto.
“C’mon!!” Sasuke yelled, honking his horn. The traffic had piled up on the road, leaving almost everyone trapped. The traffic light broke, causing too many people to stop.
“Sasuke, its obvious no one’s gonna move.” Hinata complained. Sasuke shushed her, agitated. “Man why is it everything’s keeping us from getting home?” Sasuke asked no one in particular.
Naruto and Sakura were snoring as they slept in the back. Sakura was the first to wake up. She yawned and sat up, handing the sleeping Naruto his jacket. She looked past the windshield.
“Please don’t tell me there’s a traffic jam…” she moaned. Sasuke and Hinata both nodded. Sakura sighed.
Naruto woke up with a loud yawn. He sat up too and sighed, noticing the traffic jam. “Naruto do you want your sandwich?” Hinata asked. Naruto nodded and Hinata handed it to him.
Long after a few hours, the traffic began to move, and soon the car was speeding down the road. While riding along a country road, Sakura yawned and wanted to sleep again.
Naruto pulled her close and she didn’t mind. She snuggled into him, and his head rested on her, his arms wrapped firmly around her.
“Guys you o—“ Sasuke said nothing, seeing the two people sleeping in the back. Hinata made him turn back around to drive.
Suddenly the car skids to a sudden stop, sending everyone forward. Sasuke flew through the windshield and Hinata flipped over. The two teens in the back suddenly woke up as they hit the seat.
“Sasuke? Are you okay?” Hinata asked. “N-N-No…” Sasuke muttered while stammering.
“Sakura?” Naruto asked. “Are you okay?” “Y…Y…Ye… Yes…” “Okay…” Sakura pushed Naruto off her and they sat up. They looked past the broken windshield to see Sasuke laying on the hood, and Hinata outside inspecting him.
“What happened? Why did the car stop like that?” Sakura asked.
“Well the ground began to give way in front of us. Now there’s just a huge hole there.” Sasuke replied as Hinata helped him up. Sakura and Naruto got out.
Sasuke was right. There, in front of the haltered car, was an extremely large hole, blocking off the road. There were a few places they could hop on and try to cross the hole. However, the small rock stands were narrow and weak. Too much weight could break them and they would end up at the bottom of the hole, their shattered bodies laying there on the freezing, ice cold ground.
“Naruto!!” Sakura shouted, snapping Naruto from his thoughts. “Oh sorry, what?” he asked. “Sasuke said we should try and cross the hole with the small rock stands.” she explained. Naruto was terrified; Going across alone would be deadly itself. If he had to carry some one, there would be no chance.
“Let’s go!!” Sakura called from ahead. Naruto shook his head and followed her. She hopped on a stand, wobbling with unbalance. “Whoa!!” she cried. She regained her balance. Naruto followed, hopping along beside her.
“Hey Sakura…” he began. “Yeah?” she replied, hopping onto the next stand. “I know we had those little “moments” that actual couples should have… I think—“ Sakura cut him off.
“I’m sorry Naruto, but I don’t like you that seriously.” she told him. “We can remain very close friends but I don’t think we should go that far.”
Naruto was silent for a moment. “So… maybe we should go steady?” he finally asked, breaking the silence.
“Um… Okay. We can go steady.” she replied. He smiled and they continued hopping until they were both safely on the other side. They waited for Hinata and Sasuke to come to the other side. They began to walk home, the car left behind. After a while Sakura collapsed on the ground from exhaustion.
“I’m sorry guys… I can’t go any farther… Go one and leave me. I’ll find my way home.” she muttered. “C’mon Sakura!! Don’t give up just yet!!” Naruto said, trying to encourage her. She couldn’t move. Naruto had no choice but to carry her the rest of the way. After a while, Hinata ended up being carried by Sasuke. The boys began to have one of their “Boy Talks”.
“You holding up with Sakura?” Sasuke asked. Naruto nodded and replied, “We’re going steady.” “Already? C’mon, you hardly know her and you are going steady with her?” Sasuke complained.
“Hey, you’re pretty serious with Hinata.” Naruto spat. “No, we’re hardly even talking to each other.” Sasuke replied.
Soon the boys were sent back to walking along the moon-lit road. Sakura gave a small shiver. “Hey Naruto…” she started. “Yes, you can borrow my jacket.” he replied, knowing what she was going to say. He set her down and removed his jacket, placing it around Sakura. He picked her up again and they were soon moving along again.
Finally Sasuke decided they would rest for the night and see if they could get a ride home tomorrow. After setting up two tents using the resources around them, and creating a blazing fire, the four settled down by the fire on logs.
“Do we have any marshmallows?” Hinata asked. Sasuke shook his head and they all sighed.
After a long hour of warming up, the foursome settled in different tents: Sakura and Naruto in one, and Sasuke and Hinata in the other.
Naruto and Sakura were close together in the small crowded tent. Sakura had told Naruto not to sleep with his pajamas on because they did some how hurt. Well… at least the top half did. So Naruto ended up with his shirt off.
“Would you give me that!!” Sasuke shouted from the other tent. “Give me the blanket Sasuke!!” Hinata yelled. Sakura told them both to quiet down. Soon it began storming, the rain coming down hard.
Sakura was too scared to sleep far away from Naruto. She scooted closer to him until her back collided with his chest.
She flipped around, face-to-face with him.
“Don’t be scared.” he smiled. “It’s only a storm.” Sakura wanted to speak up but thunder roared, scaring her enough for her to hide extremely close to the blonde boy.
“Sakura!!” he cried in a laugh. “It’s okay!!” Sakura still shivered with fear, and her only option left was to hug him. He sighed; her overreacting was a little to extreme, but if it meant keeping her close, he had no choice.
Sunlight shone brightly through sticks and logs made into the shape of tents. Sakura was instantly awake, while Naruto was his normal self and sleeping in. Sakura yawned and walked outside. The fire had gone down, the trees were rustling in the wind, but the only sound she didn’t here were the cars going by. What had happened?
The sound of rustling from inside the tents made her turn around to see Naruto coming out. Sasuke and Hinata were usually up by now. They obviously needed the sleep.
“What’s up Naruto?” Sakura asked. Naruto looked a bit troubled so it had her somewhat concerned. Naruto hadn’t said anything for a while, so it really had her concerned.
“Um… Sakura, do you think we’re going too fast?”
Sakura wasn’t really happy to hear this but she had to take this easily. Or otherwise, it wouldn’t get any better.
“Well… what makes you think that?” she asked, refraining from what she was about say originally.
“Because… I hardly even know you and Sasuke actually snapped some sense into me yesterday,” Naruto replied.
“That’s a first for Sasuke…” Sakura muttered.
“Yeah seriously…” Naruto agreed. “But anyway, we should really just be friends. Maybe after we get to know each other we can try again. Is that okay?” he asked.
“Well if you feel that way then its fine.” she answered. “I understand and I can cope with this until you feel we can try again.”
“Well don’t feel bad Sakura.” he explained. “It’s not that I don’t like you. It’s just… well… I can’t be so fast with you. You’re a different kind of experience… Not like the ramen I eat everyday… You’re… more special than that.”
“…I understand…” she replied.
“Okay, as long as you understand.” he smiled and brushed her bangs away.
“So… how special am I to you?” Sakura asked.
“…The most special thing ever.” “What about you’re ramen?” “That’s a different story. That’s the most special food.” “Oh, okay…” “What made you think you weren’t special?” “Well… it’s just that… Well any boy who’s ever tried to hit on me only wanted me for my money or something and didn’t think I’m special.” “Well then they aren’t real people. I would never use anyone for reason like that. You know me better than that.”
“Yeah I do…” she muttered. He laughed slightly, and she couldn’t help but laugh too. He looked past her at the road.
“This whole time I’ve not heard a single car go by… And this is because?” he asked.
“That freaking hole where the ground gave way.” Sakura answered. Sasuke and Hinata finally woke up and came outside.
“So, any potential rides?” Sasuke asked. “Unless you count the wind and some of the animals that passed that could be ridden on, nope.” Sakura replied.
“What?” Sasuke cried in impatience.
“It’s probably that freaking hole that popped up.” Sakura explained. “Well now how are we supposed to get home NOW?” Sasuke cried out.
They all decided just to at least try to get far with walking.
Omigod I actually finished it. It was just about to hit 5 full pages.
