“Felix!” cried Sheba as she ran barefoot over the wooden deck of the Lemurian ship, her eyes ablaze with determination. She panted as she came to a halt at the prow, and thrust a finger out to jab Felix in the chest.

“Why have you been sitting alone over here all evening?” she demanded, tossing her windswept hair out of her eyes so she could properly glare at him.

“I don’t know what you mean,” said Felix, his eyes downcast, “I’ve just been thinking, really.”

“Good, so you won’t mind if I join you?” said Sheba, as she sat down, “I’ll help you to think, if only you’ll tell me what you were thinking about.”

Felix looked more than a little uncomfortable, as his quiet thinking place swiftly turned into a question and answer session. Not that he really minded, since he relished any chance he got to speak with Sheba.

“What I was thinking about? Ah, well, not much. Mostly about… Alex…” Felix said, not wanting to divulge his true musings, for fear of upsetting Sheba.

Of course, there’s hardly a point in lying to a mind-reader.

“You were thinking about me,” Sheba said sadly, “about my family.” The subject of her family, and even her people, was always a sure way to kill any of Sheba’s good moods. Sheba started as she felt a foreign, yet familiar, warmth encompass her as Felix held her in his arms.

“I promise, we will find them,” said Felix, his voice filled with certainty, “After all, if we can make it to Mars Lighthouse, light the beacon and deal with Karst and Agatio, how hard could it be to find an entire race of lost people? I mean, it’s not like we haven’t done it before.” He gestured to the Lemurian ship.

“Thank you, Felix,” she said through hiccups, blinking back tears. First he had dived off a lighthouse to save her, and now this? Sheba felt the familiar butterflies come back at the thought of Venus Lighthouse, when Felix held her in his arms as they plunged into the icy water. Almost unconsciously, Sheba lifted her head, and kissed Felix softly on the lips. After the initial shock had worn off, Felix kissed her back slowly, so as to preserve the sensation.

The two stayed like that for some time, quite content with each others company, but as the sun began to set, they unwillingly broke apart and prepared to sleep.

The next morning, as the ship landed in Prox, Sheba and Felix stood on the deck, hand in hand, and prepared to disembark. Just before they left, Sheba asked Felix,

“Are you sure? Are you sure you’ll come with me to find my family?”

“It’s a promise,” was Felix’s reply as they stepped into the snow, where they were smothered by well meaning Proxians greeting their first visitors in a long time.
