Prologue
I disclaim all that is the Teen Titans and Tenchi Muyo, the only character that is mine is the new Superboy.
In Metropolis in the huge black L shaped tower that represents one of the most successful world wide defense conglomerates Lex Corp, three stories beneath. The familiar bald headed figure of Lex Luther was currently standing next to his current head of his genetic research and development department, he was looking into a sterile room at a young man strapped to a table with monitoring equipment stuck to his body. “Dr. Happerson I brought you in to do something that your predessor failed to do, create a docile Superman at my beck and call, this is not a clone.”
“I’m sorry Mr. Luthor, but all previous attempts to re-create Superman’s DNA have ended in failures. We need a stable template to grafe the Kryptonian DNA onto. We simply picked up some vagrant off the streets and brought him here,” Happerson replied typing away at the console in front of him.
“How do you plan to turn him into a Kryptonian, according to the interview Lane did with Superman back when he first appeared it took him years to store up enough yellow solar energy to make him they way he is?” Luthor said sounding annoyed.
“Brainiac helped us answer that question, Mr. Luthor. According to the logs we managed to scrounge together. Turns out he managed to composit a workable sample of an unknown DNA that has unbelievable adaptibitly. It looks remarkably like across between Kryptonian and Human DNA.” He finished typing up the sequence and immediately the boy inside the sterile room was injected on all sides by six booster needles. “The unknown strain will adapt to both the Human and Kryptonian strains and blend them together forming a hybrid Kryptonian blessed with all of Superman’s powers and few additional benefits.”
“Meaning?” Luthor asked watching as the body of the boy seemed change in front of his eyes, “And why bring in a boy.”
“Any older and the DNA won’t be pliable, we’ve tried it several times with willing applicants with less than successful results,” Happerson winced remembering the screams of the last man they tried it with, it had not been pretty. “I believe the DNA will work with someone under the age of eighteen because they are in the process of still growing. The DNA in a sense is still growing as well, adding new DNA to the system will simply be absorbed instead of rejected. As for the additional benefits, the boy will be immune to Kryptonite.”
Luthor frowned a bit, if the boy wasn’t brought under control, he wouldn’t be able to use the radioactive rock to bring the boy down. “I am not entirely sure that’s a benefit in our case doctor.”
Happerson sighed his employer was a control freak that much he knew coming in, as he watched the boy’s brainwaves which were normal in a state of REM sleep. He sat back as the final strand of DNA had finished it’s work. He then typed the muscle learning program and memory enhancersd that allowed the boy begin learning defensive arts of various styles. He figured this would give him an edge in battling the Justice League, if Luthor ever inclined the boy into fighting the team of superheroes. With Superman’s powers and the strange alien DNA enhancing those powers he could probably surpass the Justice League in ability after two battles. He pondered this watching his boss look intently at the boy who was now absorbing a huge amount of Yellow Solar energy from the lamps that were now surrounding him. Which shut off periodically every two minutes for two reasons one the powers needed to gathered slowly and two too much and the boy would poisoned by too much energy. Leaning back he closed his eyes and let out a sigh.
Suddenly alarms started ringing all over the lab, Happerson quickly leaned forward and examined the console, “His brainwaves are screaming out, he’s having a nightmare.” He looked up and notice the boy’s mouth was moving he quickly turned on the speakers.
“R-R-Rachel, no, don’t leave,” the boy mumbled. “Stop don’t take her!” suddenly a huge ball of bluish white light exploded from the boys hands and the boys eyes snapped open tearing the restraints asunder like they were tissue paper. He looked around wildly at the room, fortunately for Luthor and Happerson they were behind a one way mirror. The boy quietly assessed himself, he was wearing nothing more than a confused look. Subsonciously he looked using the x-ray vision and spotted what appeared to be a set of clothes. Smashing through the adjoining wall into the room he pulled the shirt free and blinked in surprise. The shirt was dark blue, with pentagional red and yellow symbol in the middle of the shirt with giant red S in middle of the yellow field. “Superman’s ensigna,” he whispered thinking a moment he put on the shirt, discarded the tight spandex bottoms in favor of the dark blue cargo style pants. Inside the pockets were weight training gloves, which he slipped on. He took off the gold belt from the spandex outfit slid it through the belt loops. Next he donned a pair of combat boots he found in another locker that fit him well, the final two items he put on was a long leather red trench coat, and a pair of sporty sunglasses. Standing up he looked at himself in the mirror and smiled slightly, “Now I don’t know what cool usually is but I say this is way beyond cool.”
Luthor coughed as the dust cleared, “What happened, what was he dreaming to cause such a violent reaction?”
“Checking the mental image feeds,” Happerson coughing as well not sure what happened, the tracking unit showed the boy was two halls down no doubt found the Superman outfit there. The imager slowly brought images of a Tibetian temple, under siege by a group of thugs led by Deathnote. “Seems slade is involved, sir.” The image changes to that of girl three years younger than the boy, apparently the nightmare was in fact a image from his past. The girl was dressed in a dark purple cloak and a tight black outfit. She had short purple hair and a pale face, he recognized her instantly. “Dear god he knows one of the Teen Titans.”
Luthor glanced down at Happerson sharply. “You mean we gave super powers to a friend of one of the Teen Titans.”
Happerson looked up nervously as another explosion rocked the building. “He’s leaving Metropolis, heading west.”
He glanced back at the building he just exited, unsure how he got the powers or why he knew how to use them. “Thanks Luthor, you gave me the powers I need to help Rachel,” he looked forward and instinctively he increased his speed. He heard rumor in Metropolis that a group of teenage superheroes took up residence in Jump City. If there was anyplace to start it would be there, he increased his speed more unknowingly to him his body ignited into a bluish white light.
Robin leapt back avoiding the huge wave of sludge that Plasmis, looked up watching Starfire fire dozens of starbolts at the huge mass of goo. Until finally the thing dropped to the ground, a second later Cinderblock came up behind her slamming his huge stone fist into her sending her flying. “Starfire!” he screams before Beast boy appears in his teradactyl form grabbing her and easing her safely to the ground. The changeling then transforms into a rhino charging the stone man, slamming full force they were knocked back into a building. Robin watched as Beast boy went sailing out turning back into his normal form as Raven and Cyborg appeared one firing her dark energy and him firing off his sonic cannon, finally dropping the stoneman.
“BOOYAH!” Cyborg screamed out as they assessed the street. “Man, I thought we put those two on ice in Paris?”
“So did I,” Robin began thinking as Starfire and Raven walked up.
A huge blast of energy hit between where the gathered titans stood knocking them all back. “I think it’s time eliminate you all individually,” a shadowy figure stated in an english accent.
Robin looked up head groggy from the blast and gasped out, “Metallo!”
“You mean one of Superman’s bad guys?” Beast boy looked up nervously. “Dude, Superman barely beats him.”
Metallo slowly picks up Raven who landed closest to him. “Hm, I think I’ll start with her,” he lifted her up grabbing her by both of arms and began squeezing.
Raven began to started screaming and the Titans gathered themselves to attack the monster machine. “Titans..,” two beams of crimson light seered into the tops of Metallo’s metallic arms. Metallo screamed out dropping the girl.
A figure dropped down between Raven and Metallo arms crossed. “You picked the wrong people, and you really picked the wrong girl to mess with.” The figure slammed his fist into the machine monster sending him flying down the street crashing into a building three blocks away. The figure then slowly picked Raven up into his arms. “Rachel,” he whispered gently shaking her. “Are you alright?”
Raven slowly opened her eyes and came face to face with a boy she thought she never see again. “It’s not possible I thought you were dead, Jason,” she said weakly.
“More time to talk later, right now I got a metallic creep to stomp,” he said jumping into the air landing next to the gathered Teen Titans. He handed Raven to Cyborg, as soon as he revealed the costume he was wearing everyone looked on in awe. “Heh, guess I better introduce myself, call me Superboy.”
“Won’t matter, who you are,” Metallo replied opening his compartment revealing the Kryptonite and focused the beam on Superboy.
“Wow pretty,” the boy of steel snorted then lunge forward at a shocking rate speed slamming his fist into Metallo’s face sending crashing to the ground sliding backward, mid stride Superboy grabbed Metallo’s leg and flung him into the air. “Try this you pile of scrap iron,” he put his hands together and a huge ball of blue white energy appeared he flunged his hands forward and it slammed into the metallic monster disentergrating the kryptonite.
Metallo crashed to the ground gasping, “W-why didn’t the kryptonite effect you like it does the real Superman.”
Superboy bent down, “Don’t know, don’t care. Your going to jail.”
Author’s note: I wanted to this bit for awhile, seems to happen a lot I can start something but can’t seem to finish because the ideas just drain out in one chapter or more then I get huge amount of writer’s block. But this story I might work on more with some good reviews and a good editor and maybe a co-writer to help me keep Superboy down a bit.
