Another oneshot about Sakura

Jumping

It was how she had gotten so far. She leapt the distances and then kept going, hopping over the rough patches to continue with her life.

It was how she reached for him. She reminded herself that he was looking at the same stars and if she tossed herself up there with them he might see her too.

Running

It was how she escaped danger. She sprinted past it, keeping it from overwhelming her as she flew by. After all, if no one can touch you you’re as good as invincible, or doomed.

It was how she started. She hit the ground running, never stopping to look back, never regretting. Never remembering the past, always thinking about the future.

Flying

It was how she dreamed. She would be in the sky with the stars. But, she would be all alone. She would keep flying higher until no one could ever reach her.

It was how she felt. She felt a weightless feeling in the pit of her stomach, as if she were lifting off the ground and in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 blast off she would be rocketing towards the unknown.

Her Faults

It was how she came to care. She recognized what was wrong with her. She jumped through the world blindly; she didn’t stop to look at what she had now. She ran to far ahead without ever stopping to look back, never facing her fears, only ever thinking of regrets. She flew carelessly higher, without wondering whether people might object to her new life in the sky, without ever stopping to tell her loved ones goodbye, and without ever checking the path before her to make sure it was clear.

But, it was what made her herself.

When she acted rashly, people merely smiled and shook their heads. Things always turned out alright for Sakura.

Sakura was weightless, she always escaped, she always lived on, and when she died, she would continue to live on inside the hearts of all of the people whose lives she had touched.

After all, she was Konoha’s Cherry Blossom.
