Beginning Notes: I’m sorry that it’s been so long since I’ve posted a story, school sucks :(. A second story should be following this one soon, enjoy!

On a dark night in Jump City, a cloak-clad figure slowly moved down a sidewalk downtown. It was late: the moon was nearly halfway across the sky, but Raven had been sent out on a late night food run by Beast Boy and Cyborg, who were too lazy to do it themselves. Raven had finally agreed to do it when Robin had stepped in to try to persuade her.

"Why do they always send me out to get the food?" Raven mumbled to herself as she continued to glide down the sidewalk. Soon enough she arrived at the local pizza joint, picked up the pizzas Beast Boy had ordered, and started back to the tower. Unknown to Raven, she was being followed by a shadowy figure who was using the rooftops for cover.

The figure had been observing Raven since she had left the tower, when she had picked up the food and began on her way back home. The figure patiently waited on the rooftop of an electronics store, waiting for Raven to pass by. She was halfway past it when she thought she saw a figure drop down into the building’s alleyway. Raven peered into the darkness for a few moments before dismissing it and continuing on.

Jinx smiled slyly as she pulled her black cloak hood down, watching Raven continue on. "Thought I had been caught there for a sec’," Jinx mumbled as she peered around the corner to confirm that Raven really hadn’t seen her. 'Gotta do it now,' Jinx thought as she raised her hand and fired off a condensed version of her normal blast at the store's alarm system. The blast passed right through the glass and hit the alarm, causing it to malfunction and immediately go off. Jinx smiled again as Raven whipped around at the sound of the alarm, but only caught a glimpse of Jinx before she disappeared into the alleyway.

'That had to be Jinx!' Raven thought as she dropped the pizzas on the ground and headed down the alleyway in pursuit. It was a lengthy and difficult chase, Raven only keeping up by catching a slight glimpse of pink hair around each corner until finally she ran into a dead end. Raven turned around, facing where she had come from, only to see a long alleyway branching off in many directions. Jinx had effectively led her into the middle of a brick maze.

Raven turned in all directions, trying to find Jinx, but all she saw were brick walls. She only barely noticed when Jinx dropped down behind her. Raven spun around, hands encased in black energy, only to be pushed up against a wall. She lashed out with her fists, only to have them caught in Jinx's energy encased hands.

Raven felt as if her powers were being drained right out of her - the black energy in her hands crackled and slowly died as Jinx stared directly into her eyes and grinned slyly. "What're… doing to me…?" Raven asked weakly; Jinx smirked. "It's a new technique I developed," she said as the glow faded from her own hands. "I call it 'The Jinx Effect', pretty corny huh?" Jinx said as she pushed Raven's arms up over her head and pushed herself up against her captive, inching her face uncomfortably close.

"I can now channel the specific kind of bad luck I want to happen. In this case I caused you to have the bad luck of your strength draining in such a dire situation." Raven tried to break Jinx's grip, but she was too weak to do anything. "What do you...want?" she asked weakly as Jinx inched her face even closer. "I've wanted this for a long time...it's why I’ve worked so hard to develop my powers.”

Before Raven could protest or try to escape, Jinx closed the distance and locked her lips with Raven’s, kissing her deeply. Raven’s eyes widened in shock, but she could only give weak muffles of protest as Jinx cupped her face, deepening the kiss.

"Raven!" Jinx broke the kiss as she looked down the alleyway for the source of the voice. Robin appeared out of the shadows of the alleyway, followed by the rest of the Titans. There were looks of shock and disgust on each of their faces at what they had witnessed Jinx do to their teammate: Starfire in particular, whose eyes were ablaze with energy. Jinx backed away from Raven, who limply slid to the ground. “What did you do to friend Raven!” Starfire cried as she eyed Jinx furiously. Jinx looked over at Raven, a hint of sadness on her face. “Guess I’ll have to wait a little longer,” she said before firing an energy wave at the building nearest the Titans, which promptly crumbled down onto them.

By the time the Titans crawled out from under the rubble, Jinx was already gone. The Titans all rushed over to Raven, who had already passed out from exhaustion and shock, and rushed her back to the Tower.

END

Ending Notes: Jinx’s power ‘The Jinx Effect’ is a completely fictional ability invented by me as the catalyst for this story ;). This is the first story I’ve written with a real lack of romantic content and a real physical affection element, but I’d like to hear what you, my fans (if I have any), think. Constructive criticism is always welcome.
