Author’s Notes: Got the idea in my head… Had to write it. My first CR fic!

Five-year-old Shane is standing on the streets alone.

He is crying and there is nobody around to help him.

“Mommy?”

Silence.

“Daddy?”

More silence.

A stranger comes along and kneels down, concerned by the lonely crying child. He asks gently, “Where are your parents, boy?”

Shane sniffles.

“I-I don’t know. Mommy and Daddy said they w-were going out to g-get some things and they n-never came back.”

The stranger gives him sympathetic eyes.

“How would you come to live with me, boy?”

Shane looks up at him with huge, watery eyes and nods.

-

Shane is now six-year-old Shane Grey.

He is exposed to music for the first time.

He hears the beautiful melodies and voices, and decides what he wants to do.

He wants to be a singer.

His new daddy smiles at his ambition and ruffles his hair.

“You will, kiddo.”

He doesn’t believe it.

He thinks it’s another silly dream of his make-shift son.

Little Shane isn’t joking.

-

Nine-year-old Shane Grey sings to himself.

He is taking singing lessons.

His teacher says he has a very bright future.

His father grins and ruffles little Shane’s hair again.

Little Shane smiles.

His father is happy thinking of what he could do with the formerly abandoned boy he found on the street.

“Proud of you, boy.”

He sounds sincere.

He is not sincere about it.

Poor little Shane does not know what his father is going to do.

-

Eleven-year-old Shane is excited.

He gets to go to Camp Rock.

The best part? His uncle owns it, so he can go for free.

When he arrives at Camp Rock, he meets his new roommates, Nate and Jason.

They become friends and decide to play at Final Jam together.

They keep on practicing until they feel as though they could win against the world.

The night of Final Jam, Shane Grey sings his heart out.

The audience is moved by their performance and the record labels are impressed.

They get a record deal.

Now they are really going to show the world what they are made of.

-

Fifteen-year-old Shane is mad.

His band, Connect Three, makes it big, but maybe that is the problem.

He found out about what his father wanted to do.

His daddy took all his money.

Now Shane has a bad attitude.

People think the fame has gotten to his head.

They don’t see him hiding behind his façade.

They don’t see how broken he is inside.

He doesn’t want them to see it.

But yet, he does.

-

Sixteen-year-old Shane Grey is forced to go to Camp Rock again.

People say his behavior has gotten too far.

They still don’t see his mask.

He hates them for that.

He wants everyone to stop pretending around him.

Soon he finds Mitchie Torres.

He falls head over heels for her and her music; he thinks she understands him.

Then he finds out she lied.

He grows even more broken up than before.

-

Shane Grey is nineteen-years-old, and he is dying.

He lies on the bloody concrete.

Police and paramedics scramble to try and save him.

Shane got hit by a car, and he knows that he is going to die.

He doesn’t mind.

He still lives a life of pain.

This doesn’t compare.

His eyes are empty and a smile is on his red lips.

He barely hears people telling him to hold on.

Nobody sees how broken he is.

Not even now.

Not ever.
