Disclaimer – Oh, how I wish they belonged to me, especially Grissom! But unfortunately they don't, so I only get to play with them occasionally in my stories. Please don't sue, I am only a very poor fanfiction writer.

A/N The story is cannon GSR up until, and including the proposal roughly, Sara hasn't left Grissom or the lab and they are living together quite happily, maintaining some semblance of a life together, but continuing to work on the same shift. Yeah I know crap summary but I don't want to give too much away too soon! Story beta'd by myself so any remaining mistakes are all mine, so I apologize in advance. I hope you enjoy this short story, not sure how many chapters it will run for yet, but please take the time to leave a review at the end. R & R Enjoy!

Is Grissom really dense when it comes to hints?

Five whole days and nights Sara had tried to drop as many subtle hints to her fiancée Gilbert Grissom, enigmatic entomologist, and brilliantly intelligent forensic scientist, to no avail, leaving her dumbfounded at her attempts to convey her news to him gently, without shocking the poor man into a heart attack.

So if the guy is so intelligent and excellent at interpreting evidence and clues in solving criminal cases for the Las Vegas crime lab, why the hell cant he solve all the clues or hints presented to him numerous times by his frustrated fiancé at home and at work?

It all started on Sunday, after Sara had her scheduled night off while he worked his normal night shift.

Being worried for the previous couple of weeks at missing her somewhat irregular, but monthly menstrual cycle she'd gone to the store and purchased not one, but five different home pregnancy testing kits, even going as far as to pay for them with cash, so there would be no record to trace of the fact, in case it was just a false alarm.

Drinking huge amounts of liquid to fill her bladder for the task at hand, then locking herself in the master bathroom, even though Gil was at work and there was only their dog Hank in the house, she carried out the five peeing tests nervously.

Reading the instructions yet again for the fourth time, she unlocked the door leaving five little white plastic sticks on the bathroom counter ready to wait the recommended five minutes developing time.

Double checking that the house in fact was void of any other humans and that she was indeed alone, she very nervously, paced around adjusting things here and there, trying to divert her current thoughts of possibly being with child.

Retracing her steps over and over re-adjusting things that she had moved only seconds earlier, and starting up a mumbled mantra of 'I'm not pregnant, I'm just late, we used birth control, I'm not pregnant, it's panic over nothing' she mumbled over and over as Hank scrambled away from her alarmed.

Glancing at her watch again and seeing the needed time was up, she slowly walked to the bedroom as if she was going to the gallows and her death.

I'm not cut out to be anyone's mother, I'm not even cut out to look after my damned self recently! It's all Gil's fault for spoiling me, doing everything for me, cuddling me all the time and offering me his support when I need it, he's the one that has encouraged me to rely on him so much.

I don't do children, and I certainly don't do babies!

And what maternal role models have I ever had in my life anyway? Zilch! None! Nadda! Not! And Never!

Oh yeah, there's been Catherine the last couple of years, but even then I've not seen her interact much with Lindsey.

Sara Sidle and kids don't mix, fact!

Sara Sidle is glad her and kids don't mix, Fact!

Sara Sidle is scared shitless of being alone with kids, Fact!

It's all his fault, Gilbert Grissom, the one that everyone thinks he doesn't like to take risks. Well hello! News report! Grissom takes risks all right, in the bedroom, when it comes to assuring me it's safe to go without a condom this one time of many, in the heated rush of our passion.

He's probably the one to blame for this little meltdown I might just be having very shortly.

OMG! He'll have a fit if I am, he'll...He'll...OMG! He'll have a coronary at the prospect of becoming a Father.

How the hell am I gonna tell him? With Doc Robbin's present or at the ER just in case?

Her thoughts rambled on as she came to a halt at the doorway to the bathroom eyeing the five little offending items neatly laid out in a row that could potentially change their lives and future.

Get a grip of yourself Sidle, your probably panicking over nothing.

You've dealt with much worse than this. What could be worse?

Gilbert and me having to look after a baby, when neither of us has the first idea what to do with one of them!

And if you not even pregnant? You'll have stressed out over nothing. Just look at the damned tests and get it over with you coward!

I am not, nor have never I ever been a coward! Just gimme a second to collect myself?

Chicken!

Am not!

Yellow bellied!

Shut up will you!

Okay coward, but I throw down the gauntlet to you, to go right over there this minute and look at those tests.

Okay, Okay, I'm going right now, but my legs don't seem to want to co-operate and come with me.

Sara Sidle turning down a challenge, well that is a first!

Sara's warring thought's argued in her head, until she irritatedly shook it, then took determined strides forward to the counter closing her eyes on reaching it.

She breathed in deeply, then let it out slowly but shakily as she opened her eyes and dropped her chin to her chest so she could see the tests, crouching a little nearer to be sure of what she was seeing.

Crap! No, don't do this to me!

#3 - + sign – positive

#4 – No indication in panel

The other three could wrong, if only this next one reads negative or inconclusive.

Please, I'm not ready to be some poor kids Mom.

Her eye's gingerly moved over to the next one on the counter.

#5 - sign – positive

Closing her eyes she counted to ten as calmly as she could muster before letting out a heavy breath, “OMG! OMFG! Crap!, Crap!, Son of a bitch! Damned!” came out of her mouth before she could even stop it even if she wanted to.

Almost running into the bedroom and launching onto the bed to bury her head in the pillows to muffle the scream, she kicked her legs in a mad couple of minutes while she absorbed the inexplicable hard truth.

Sara Sidle was with child, father Gilbert Grissom who was gonna freak as much as her when he found out, had to be told, and soon!

A/N -2 I hope you like what I have written so far, the next chapters are going to cover the humorous ways in which Sara tries to tell Grissom the news subtly without being blunt and to the point shocking him too much.

Please take the time to leave a review if you like the story so far and wish for me to continue. I always appreciate any feedback offered.
