Is Grissom really dense when it comes to hints? - Chapter 3

A couple of hours later Sara tiredly woke from her sleep within the circle of Gil's arms wrapped possessively around her as he slept on unaware, his gentle slow and even breaths upon the top of her head told her he would probably still remain dead to the world for some time yet.

Knowing she would not be able to go back to sleep, she sighed. The pressing issue of having to come up with more idea's to let Gil know gently that they were with child, were now bouncing around in her head making her feel fidgety as she shifted in the bed slightly.

With the slight shift, Gil let out a long contented sigh, then rolled over onto his back, one arm releasing his grasp of her as he flung it haphazardly over to his side of the bed, the other arm still under her waist.

Keeping as still as she could, Sara waited a couple of minutes until he seemed to settle in his new position sprawled on his back, chin up, mouth slightly open.

Seeing that she could now get out of the bed easier without disturbing him, and with a strong need to pee now, Sara edged herself slowly up off his arm and over to her side of the bed, before getting up without too much motion on the mattress.

Keeping up the quiet slow motions, she grabbed her robe and sneaked out of the darkened room to use the other bathroom in the house, closing the door as she went.

Twenty minutes later sat in the kitchen with her cup of tea, Hank chomping away on his breakfast near her feet, she looked around their home for inspiration for new ways to get her news over to Gil.

Glancing around at all their books and other collectables, her gaze finally rested upon their impressive joint collection of music CD's on the shelves, “Ummmmmm” she hummed in contemplation before an idea formed with a huge Sidle smile.

Sara looked down happily at Hank as he licked his lips furiously on finishing his Kibble, “Ready to watch me put phase two of operation Drop the bomb into action boy?” she asked in a quiet tone, so as not to be accidentally overheard by a certain entomologist.

As the hours passes Sara made the preparations ready for the next part of her plan, finding some of what she needed in their music collection, but then having to download the rest from the internet, she glanced up at the clock and saw that Gil would be waking very soon if his normal body clock was in action.

Depositing her newly made CD into their music system, she then pressed play as Prelude: Morning Mood from "Peer Gynt" began to quietly play around their home.

Striding confidently into the kitchen to prepare Gil's usual cup of tea and their breakfast, knowing the cooking smells would also alert his senses to awakening Sara went about her task with a soft smile.

As The Flight of the Bumble-Bee – by Rimski-Korsakov started to play, a now awake and yawning Gilbert Grissom came into the kitchen dressed only in boxers, rubbing at his eyes to clear them.

“Morning, you sleep well?” Sara asked lovingly as she took in his adorable form of bed head hair, naked legs and chest as he approached her for his morning kiss.

“Uh huh” he said as he gathered her in his arms and tightened his embrace, then found her lips with his in a gentle but longing kiss.

Pulling back from the kiss “And good morning to you too honey” he said smiling at her softly, then he registered the music playing and asked “You feeling in a classical mood today honey?” as he released her so she could carry on with the breakfast.

“Sort of.....I just compiled this CD earlier when I couldn't sleep, was bored, so I got up. You like?” she said with her back to him and a nervous smile as she glanced at him then back at the stove.

Gil sat down at the table and unfolded his daily paper ready to peruse the crossword of the day “Uh yeah. Was this one especially for me?” he said with a boyish grin indicating over to the music system.

Sara chuckled that he got the entomology connection, “You bet” she said thinking he'd obviously missed her true reasoning for playing it, as she loaded up two plates with vegetable omelettes then took them over to the table.

When she sat down they both began to eat as strains of 'Child Falling Asleep (Kind im Einschlummern) from Scenes from Childhood – by Schumann began playing.

Gil, Come on, where is your puzzle solving brain today honey, you need to get the child connection with this one.

Sara really had to hide the small smirk playing on her lips, as she brought a full fork full of food to her mouth as it played and he tucked eagerly into his food.

Chewing his mouthful and humming his usual praise of her cooking, he frowned ever so slightly at her choice of music today.

What's with the classical, and this one of all classical music choices, He sighed, I think she may need some education in the finer points of the classics, He thought as he chewed.

Sara ate her food slowly as she chanced the odd glance at him to see if he was thinking about the music playing, but as usual he looked more interested in wolfing down the food instead.

As Baby love by the Supremes started to play Grissom's fork hesitated briefly on route, as the only recognition of the music change before entering his mouth and chewing it.

What the......!. Classical! Then Supreme's, She doesn't even like this stuff, she told me once. Must be time of the month hormonal thing, He thought carrying on eating.

Yep! He noticed that one, he knows this really isn't my sort of music to play, Sara thought.

Noticing the ever so slight change in him, Sara stood taking her half empty plate over to the sink, her stomach had begun rolling, not sure if it was nerves, morning sickness or a combination of the two, but also so she would not give herself away by grinning.

Not now please! I've given up eating what more do you want, She thought to herself.

The music choice temporarily forgotten, Gil saw her leave the table with her half full plate as concern overtook him “Your leaving that?” he asked her as he watched her place the plate down on the counter.

She's doing it again, not eating a full meal. Aw honey I wish you wouldn't.

“Yeah, I'm not very hungry this morning” she said hoping he wouldn't push the issue of her eating like he had done on numerous occasions before.

“Honey you need to eat to carry you through until break in shift, and that's if we get one tonight” Gil reasoned with her, hoping she'd finish her food, he was always concerned at her flippant attitude to missing out on her regular meals.

Come on honey, how many times do I have to be concerned for your food intake before you'll do something about it?Gil thought after his almost plea to her.

Getting another waft of smell of the eggs made her stomach somersault, worried she would now loose the little contents she had in it she pushed the plate away from her quickly in the hope of preventing that happening.

OMG! No! Need to puke! Like yesterday, escape quickly.

“I'll grab something from the deli on my way into work for if I get hungry later” she said thinking quickly, as she made towards the bedroom “Just need the toilet” she said calmly as an excuse to leave in pursuit of the toilet bowl, when she felt bile rise in her throat.

Once out of the room and in the bedroom, Sara shot into the en-suit bathroom closing the door behind her just in time to get her head over the toilet as she vomited, then proceeded to dry heave once her stomach was empty.

Oh Gooooodddddd! This can't be happening, it can't be morning sickness already, this is so not fair right now, she thought on the last heave.

Managing to keep as quiet as she could possibly be in the circumstances, and to not to alert Gil, she cleaned herself up and jumped into the shower hoping she wouldn't have to keep hiding her impromptu symptoms from him.

Gil, I so need you to get with the plot very soon honey, before my body decides to tell you instead, was her thought as the shower spray hit her body.

Gil watched as Sara's face turned a little pale and her slight smile disappeared when she pushed her plate away from her, but then she seemed recover as she made her way out the room.

His concerned thoughts were distracted by the next song on the disc playing, as Baby Mama by Fantasia began playing.

That's it! I cant listen to this crap any longer! & I wont while I'm doing the crossword either.

A deep frown creased his brow as he now decided he'd had enough of her very strange choice of tracks today, and needed to either stop the music or put on an alternative that they would both prefer to listen too.

“Honey, do you mind if I put on Vivaldi, this kind of stuff is really distracting me?” Gil shouted through to the bedroom, standing up, but getting no response strode determinedly over to the music system and switched CD's.

Grabbing a pen from the side and retaking his seat at the table, he pushed his empty plate aside, picking up the newspaper proceeded to do the crossword puzzle, all thoughts of Sara not eating a full meal, her odd behaviour now forgotten as he absorbed himself in solving the cryptic clues.

Twenty minutes later, showered and dressed Sara walked back into the kitchen to see Gil finish writing in his last answer on the puzzle then look up at her, “You showered” he said a little disappointedly “I thought you might have wanted my company in there” he added pouting, but trying to hide it making him look even more adorable to her.

She also noticed the music disc had been switched too, well I guess he didn't like my choice of music today, but did he make any synapse connections in that brilliant mind to what I have been trying to tell him?

Errr, Sex is the last thing on my mind right now Gilbert, after chucking up breakfast. She wanted to answer him, but just said “Sorry, you were still eating and we are running a little later than usual today. So you better get your butt in gear and jump in the shower now lover” she said smiling at him lovingly, adding the last part to soften the blow to his bruised ego at showering without him.

Getting up and placing his plate on the counter, he approached her, kissed her on the temple “Okay honey, all is forgiven. I wont take long” he said chuckling as he went into the bedroom.

Shit! it didn't work, it didn't work! Crap!

Getting a hold of Hanks leash in defeat she called through to the bedroom as Hank came bounding up to her “I'll take Hank out for a quick walk, be ready when I get back honey”.

A muffled “Okay” sounded from the bedroom as she and Hank left their home.

“Well we're going to have to come up with some better idea's than that boy” she said talking as she crossed the road “At this rate little Grissom will be making an appearance before Daddy even knows” she carried on chatting as she affectionately used her free hand to hold her flat tummy, where their child nestled protected in her womb.

“You think when our finances start disappearing in to a University account he'll get it?” she asked Hank, who just let out a happy bark.

Sara chuckled as she shook her head, “God this is going to be a tough one Gilbert” she said on reaching the park.

A/N The first 3 pieces of music were taken from an album recommended for babies to listen too, which I also ended up finding out that Classical music is very good for babies developing minds. The others are just random Baby Lyric ones to fit the story as I don't really know Sara's taste in music. I hope you enjoyed this chapter. More soon!

Please leave a review to let me know if you want me to continue with the story, or what you thought of the chapter. I appreciate any response.
