‘Had you not told Harry, he would still be alive.’

“Oh God!” He wailed, as he stumbled backward onto his bed. “No!”

‘He was but a boy, Dumbledore.’

“T-there was no other c-choice - he w-wanted to know…”

‘The kind of responsibility you set on his shoulder - how can you justify that?’

He quickly sat up, his eyes wild with fear as they traveled around the small room, “I’M SORRY!”

‘Sorry? Will such a word resurrect Harry?’

“He persisted and once he kn--”

‘You failed us, Dumbledore.’

“That is not true!”

‘You killed off the Potter family, Dumbledore.”

He screamed as he jumped off from his seat. “It’s a lie! That’s not true! I did not kill Lily and James. I did not kill Harry!” He clenched his eyes shut, his palms now covering his ears. “I never killed n--”

‘You are only fooling yourself.’

His eyes snapped open. The once familiar shine in them ceased to exist.

“I’m no fool,” he muttered.

‘But you are…’
