1The Legend of Spyro: Chronicles!

Episode 3: The Chronicler

Its back again~! =D And all you guys out there better be ready for a surprise~!

Enrico was taken aback by the voice in the air. It looked like it was coming from the giant temple. Slowly, he walked towards the entrance, feeling nervous as he looked around. The rocks and earth were floating in the sky above the temple. To make it harder for him, Spyro and Cynder were no where to be seen.

He stopped at the doors of the temples. They were huge, and wide, enough ti fit two large dragons in together.

“Enrico, don’t be afraid. You are safe here.” said the voice.

The blue dragon meeped and halted hearing the voice. He stood for a minute or two scared to his wits. The doors slowly began to open, revealing a hallway leading down to a corridor beyond. Slowly Enrico walked down the long halls and beyond the corridor, only to be stopped by another door. Smaller though. Regular size for only one dragon.

The doors open for him revealing a room which looks to be a library.

“Hello? Is anyone there?” Enrico called out.

But there was no answer. Enrico pondered and walked around the small room until he comes across a table. It looked high up that he had to climb up to the table. As he reaches the top, Enrico spotted a big book. But it was not bigger than him. Yet, the book looked to be like an atlas only, the book had strange markings.

Without anyone nearby, Enrico opened up the book and searched through the pages. With each page he quickly read through, the more astonished he became. The book, everything in it holds the history, the past and present of his homeland. The southern worlds.

“I see you found my book young dragon. Or should I say.... Young human?” said the voice.

The voice was louder this time and it came from inside the same room. Enrico turned around and yelped as he comes across another huge dragon, yet this one was white and blue colored. He didn’t look old though. He looked just about the age of the other dragons he met.

“W-who are you?” Enrico called out.

The old dragon walked over towards the table and at the young dragon.

“You may call me the Chronicler. Though, in the past I went by another name.” he said.

“And what name were you called?”

The Chronicler looked down feeling a bit ashamed. A question he didn’t want to answer, knowing that Enrico had already met Spyro and probably hearing the story of what happened.

“My name...... Was Ignitus.”

Obviously, Enrico doesn’t know who Ignitus really is. Even when traveling to Warfang, Spyro and Cynder had not been to specific with their adventure to defeat Malefor.

“Its nice to meet you Ignitus. But what I don’t get is, why do you look upset when saying your name?” he asked.

Ignitus looked up a bit surprised. The only guess he could make was that Spyro and Cynder never told the full story about what happened.

“I...Its nothing... Just something from the past.” he said coughing.

He looked down at the book that Enrico had just opened.

“You read this have you Ignitus?”

Ignitus nodded slowly and looked at the small blue dragon.

“Enrico, I only know so much yet know few secrets of your world. I have a feeling you want to know what this place is and why I have a book about your world huh?” he asked.

Enrico slowly nodded making Ignitus nod back.

“Then sit down. There’s little importance you have amongst the islands here yet relates to old magic.”

Enrico got off the table and down to the floor, sitting on all fours and looking up at Ignitus.

“You are a blue dragon. In the dragon islands a water dragon is considered the ancient dragons that once supported life on the islands. Water before then was a natural element such as wind. But they were lost as the descendants were born. No dragon was born with any of those elements until you came. That medallion is indeed foreign magic, but it was created by the ancestors descendants of your world.”

Enrico looked up digging deeper to discover the secrets of his medallion.

“Tell me. What is this medallion?” he asked.

“The medallion, was created by the children of the ancestors. You know them fully well since you read them in history books. They were called the Deep Ones. Yet, despite their origin, they were dark creatures who also made the Shadow Realm. But despite their creation and construction in dark magic, they were able to resist, corruption and falling into darkness. Yet they crave power and control, hoarding all for themselves in the world. But in respect for their ancestors, they made their own creation that supports the ancient powers of the ancestors. With a single soul infused. To tell you the truth, you have two souls. Yours and a water dragon’s. Such a soul can be brought called upon by the ancestors magic. But you know the Deep Ones have such magic. That’s how they came to make life.”

Enrico was in deep thought hearing of two souls in one medallion. Then he thought back to the time he was in the academy reading.

“That’s how they made the Crystal Dragons..” he said.

Ignitus nodded and took the book from the desk and down to the floor.

“Correct. But let’s not dwell on their subject for now. Its time for other importance. “

Enrico nodded remembering recent history.

“But how did Drakas gain control and where did he come from? We all known he was a dragon residing amongst this world.”

Ignitus sighed and shooked his head walking back towards the book case. Lifting his paw with the book, he placed it back into the shelves.

“That, I do not know. Those are the few secrets that I can’t find even in the Islands. Your medallion was hard enough. And the darkness that fills the southern world blinds me... I cannot see more than I see our world’s future.”

Enrico looked down and held the amulet in his paws. The symbols and markings, and the picture of dragon and man circle the middle gem. It looked frightening to him at first.

“Ignitus.... Could there be anyway to get this off me?” he asked.

Ignitus shooked his head and sighed.

“I tried to find that out... But alas, I see no other page of your medallion. Only you or those with powerful magic can remove the medallion. But I fear, that in doing so with magic forcefully, you might lose your soul, or you’ll die before you get the chance to revert back to normal self.”

Enrico gulped, looking shaken and nervous. His memory returned to him with the image of the white tower in the forest. The shadow figure and the medallion.

“I do remember where I got it from...” he said.

“Oh? Want to tell me young one?”

“Yeah... It was in a white tower in the middle of the forest. Someone was meeting me there, warned me about temptation.”

Ignitus looked at the amulet and lifted it to his paws without removing it from Enrico.

“I see... It could be possible that it was calling you... But whoever that figure was, I doubt he had the rights to be there.”

Enrico looked up curiously.

“Why? If he warned me about this then surely he was looking out for me.”

“Most people will act like that Enrico to get what they want. That’s one lesson I have to teach Spyro..”

Enrico’s eyes snapped and looked very surprise.

“Wait! How do you know Spyro!?”

Ignitus looked through the hourglass in the middle of the room and sighed.

“Im afraid I can’t answer anymore questions young one. Your time here is over. But once you are back, don’t tell Spyro about me.” he said.

Enrico couldn’t say much anymore as he faded away and disappeared, leaving a saddened Ignitus in the room.

“Im sorry Spyro but this is how it has to be.... I can’t reveal myself to you just yet.... The time is not right....”

ooo

Enrico’s eyes began to flutter as he slowly awakes. Yet when he was up, he looked to see that he was in a totally different room. More like a study room above the library. He knew he was back in Warfang though.

He looked around to spot Spyro and the rest staring at him.

“Enrico! Your ok!” Spyro said happily.

Enrico felt a bit dazed and stood up.

“Yeah I guess I am.... I think I fell asleep or something...” he said.

Spyro shooked his head.

“No I believe that you experienced the same thing I did. Have you met the Chronicler?”

Enrico thought back earlier hearing Ignitus as the Chronicler. Should he tell him it was Ignitus? Or should he just say his title?

“Well... Yeah. I believe I did. It was weird.”

Spyro nodded and went back with Cynder, Sparx and the others. Cyril walked over and kneeled down facing Enrico.

“It looks to me like you also uncovered some past events while you met him. Care to tell us?” he asked.

Ahhh writing this gave me the happiness to write again~! I hoped you enjoyed it more than I.
