Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking dawn, four of my favorite books

Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking dawn, four of my favorite books. There was just something that appealed to me about pretending that vampires and werewolves exist. I'd always believe that myths had a basis in truth. I was not a Bella fan, I was a total Jacob fan, but I really liked Edward too. My friends and I used to talk about different aspects of each character, Julia yelling that Edward was a god, my arguing that Jacob was not conceited and Kalynda a firm Switzerland.

But I haven't talked to my friends in a long time. I hope someday I'll be able to get back to them, I hope they forgive me for leaving and know it was involuntary, like slipping into sleep, into a dream world. In fact that's what I'd thought at first, that I was lying in a bed somewhere, unconscious. Or that my world slipped away, leaving me alone until I slipped in here.

Maybe I'll never know. Maybe I'll be here forever. In this world this story, this darkness that is not my own.

This twilight.

"He is not!"

"Is too."

"C'mon, think of how much he's had to live through."

"Edward had to live through it too and he's not conceited."

I stopped in the middle of the hallways, hands on hips. "Edward's had over a hundred years to come to terms with what he is, PLUS the girl he loves, loves him back. While Jacob on the other hand-"

"Guys, chill." Kalynda put a hand over each of our mouths.

"Fine." I said, words distorted.

Behind our friend's back, Julia and I stuck our tongues at each other, the laughed.

"So I'm going to Halifax tonight." I announced.

"What for?"

"Visiting my grandparents. But then if we have time, we're going to Chapters."

"Sweet, gonna buy twilight?" Julia asked.

"I haven't saved up my lunch money for two weeks for nothing! I mean, it's about time, I have all the other books."

"You just don't like Twilight because Jacob's only in it like three times."

"No, I don't like it because…wait yeah that is why I don't like it."

Laughing, we continued down the hall.

I'd always considered myself to be average. Dark Brown hair, blue eyes, normal features, nothing really exotic or different. I inspected my reflection in the window of the Chapters bookstore before moving off to find Twilight. It was true that I hadn't bought it yet, though I'd read it many times. I'd just…never gotten around to it.

I spotted the red apple on the cover and grabbed it eagerly off the shelf. My parents wouldn't be back for another hour, might as well…

I sat down on a ledge nearby and opened the book, turning to the meadow scene.

Everything turned upside down, or maybe it was me. But the cheerful colours of the bookstore's interior were blurring no matter how fiercely I blinked my eyes. Then it was like a cloth had been thrown over my face. I couldn't see, and my words were drowned out in silence. All I could feel was the book in my hands. The pages, the cover, the smoothness of the biding. I clutched it in my hands so hard that vibrations trembled up my arms.

It was all I knew.
